Reviews From google play store

Excellent once you understand how to load games. Putting here what I wish I'd known: A "core" will emulate a given system, and you can obtain them through the app by just choosing one under "Load Core". After you've chosen one, Google "(name of the game) ROM". Download that, go into RetroArch, and find your downloads folder using the "Load Content" option. Once you're used to that process, it's easy. You'll need a decent device to run this as emulators require a good amount of computing power.

Great emulator! Takes a while to get used to the UI, but after that it gets much better. You can play tons of different systems with little to no lag (with the right setings). Sometimes DS games have audio that crackles a lot, but if you play system before that era, the audio and video work perfect. I play Nintendo, Famicom, Super Nintendo, Gameboy/Color/Advance, PokeMini, Game Gear, Genesis, and Neo Geo games with Retroarch and they work perfect! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Have been using this for years but have had a ton of fun using this app on my down time. However after recently switching from my dying LG G5 phone to a more modern gaming phone, the Razer II, half the games no longer run. I went from easily running PS1 games to them no longer loading past the menus on those and half the SNES games no longer booting up. I wonder if there is a comparability issue as this is vastly more powerful phone.

useful and easy to navigate, but this thing crashes if you do so much as sneeze. for example, if i try to change the controller settings while playing a game (this is the same for every game on every core) the app crashes. many simple and often integral features are unusuable simply because they instantly result in a crash. this would be an amazing all-in-one if it weren't so shockingly unstable.

Retroarch is the killer app for Android, hands down. I've never gotten so much joy from an app. It's got a but of a learning curve, but once you understand the jargon, you appreciate the level of customization. If you don't like the onscreen controls, get a telescoping bluetooth controller and you're all set. I installed this for my brother and my uncle and they just rave about it. If I could only have one app on my phone, this would be it. Period.

It's a good app with loads of emulators to use. The great thing is it's totally free and no in app purchases. I wish I had a better device for the 64 bit version but still this works for what I wanted to play. I've completed banjo kazooie on it. If you have a bluetooth controller you can hook that up. Ps4/xbox works. I 101% reccomend it if you need emulators.

I downloaded this solely for Naomi and Atomiswave support . Very pleased with this thank you . Works perfectly on Nvidia K1 Tablet . Yes this app can be difficult and daunting to use to one who is not used to it. I assure you once you get the hang of using it , it really is absolutely excellent . Thanks Devs . There is only one Atomiswave game i cannot get to run ,which is neo Geo battle coliseum.

Why can't the app scan a directory and list ROMS in it, then default to the ROM selection screen? Is that so hard where every other emulator does it? And why not separate older cores from the latest most universally functional so we don't have to guess which have the most compatibility? Tired of constantly trying to guess which core works. Annoying. Not to mention there 32 vs 64bit issues and that many ROMS which work fine in other emus do not work in RetroArch. "Failed to load content" Lame

First of all. It's a good app, but need to improve the settings, the options are very clear to me, for me, it doens't matter if there's a lot of customizable things, I like to customize it all, but all my customization gets overrided if I load a core. And there's also problem to config gamepad, I can't configure the Snes9x core to use L2&R2 instead of the L1&R1 buttons, my controller has too high L1&R1 buttons (GamesirG4s) and the L2&R2 are easier to press. Please, improve this emulator.

At first I had trouble with the installation of the app and running the roms. I even uninstalled the app because I couldn't figure it out. I gave it a second try after finding a good YouTube video on how to install and use the app. I'm glad I did because this is probably the best free emulator available. Great thing about it, it has no ads. Works great with an Ipega controller. You can remap the buttons to your liking. I'd also like to point out the clean menu interface. Looks nice.

I give up, after an hour of trying to start any of c64, psx and DOS games on my phone, i didn't manage to start any content. And i'm using emulators on pc more then 15 years now. C64 core just crash, psx core can't load iso file, dos core is working but can't save any changes to file system.

New: THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT The Android back-button still doesn't funtion at all. Pressing the menu button (from in-game) still has a problem of selecting whatever your finger's on as soon as it opens (eg. closing the game). But overlay orientation finally changes automatically! With your phone orientation! And now there's an option (on by default?) to save the app configuration as you change them -- no more searching for a hidden menu to manually save your settings. Powerful tool but still janky.

Highly overrated. UX and UI is absolutely terrible. Edit: I changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. I had to give it another try. So after my third try, I finally figured out how to set it up. Not sure why they chose the default interface they went with. Ozone should be the default. User experience still lacking. There has to be a better way to explain some of the settings.

It works but it's absolutely not user friendly at all. From the confusing list of cores to a control mapping menu that takes an engineer to figure out, I would go toward a more dedicated emulator that is much more set up for playability right from the moment you open it for the first time.

My experience so far is a great one. Do not listen to all the critical reviews, I think that those users haven't had the time to read the docs and configure this piece of software correctly. Great job from this team, keep it up! 👍

Great app but won't load up PlayStation 1 games over 300 MB, Once that's fixed my other emulator app will get uninstalled love Gran Turismo 2 but can't play it on retroarch but other than that i love everything else keep up the great work.

It's great having one interface for many emulators, as well as a controller-friendly UI. However, it's frustrating that it's not possible to tell which version of a core is installed versus available. The library management is also not very user friendly.

1) I have no real understanding of what a ROM is or how they work. 2) I have huge nostalgia for ps1 and n64 and 3) this is the only app I've found that plays everything and somehow has no ads. I would happily pay simply to give the developers what they've earned here.

Not exactly intuitive to use initially, however, it is well documented on their website. Very powerful once you know your way around the app. A must download for anyone after a one-stop-shop for the best emulators available for mobile.

Ok app but impossible to properly configure controls. Let alone it gives the option for analog joysticks but they dont work at all!! Fix this and ill rate higher. Also many games advertised are incompatible (i.e. Hercules)

Hello It seems like you have removed naomi_boot.bin as one of the files required for naomi/Dreamcast core to work After that, some games like neo Geo battle colisium and samurai shodown have started crashing as soon as they start Also, my opponents are no longer getting randomised as they should in king of fighters xi Kindly fix

So, I can't exactly give a rating because this has recently failed to load cores, therefore causing me to be unable to use the emulator. Retroarch64 still works for me, but not this one, which I assume is the one that'll be updated from here on out. Figured I'd mention this.

It took me a good 20 minutes to get it working, but now it looks pretty good. The UI is really confusing, but it works well once you figured it out. Edit: The sound issue was caused by the core. Using a different one solved the problem.

Good little emu but when I try to run PSP and Gamecube games, for some reason they just crash. There might be a setting or two I need to change, but I couldn't tell you which one, and I don't really want to fool around with settings I don't understand. Note 10+

Excellent like always, if you need help understanding how to use it there's loads of tutorials online or you could combine it with a launcher like dig for example. It's definitely worth your te if you are interested in emulation.

I dont know why much people complaining, they should be gratefull there is an all in one emulator which it free, no annoying ads, and at least it works. Your smooth gameplay depends on the source emulator core, example, you cant play DSi game on 2Gb Ram device and you need at least 8Gb Ram with Snapdragon 9xx to play PS2 game.

I have root and I still can`t inport cores from the internet. Some cores are not working, and my third problem I can`t load games just zips but if I load a zip, some cores wont exsept the file. edit:fixed^ new problem: half of the cores do not work! edit2: Can't save cores to sdcard! Why?

runs on most of my devices, but has issues with my chromebook PLus (v2) from Samsung, when I touch the screen it shuts down, worked on the acer spin 11, but it has a slower CPU

it have variety of emulator if i want to pick a GBA emu theres will be a few to choose from some of them emulate it perfectly others don't,the app lack any ad which is a huge plus my only complain is i can't trade pokemon and trading play a huge role i need to trade a certain pokemon just so it can evolve

While playing Wild ARMs, the game freezes up during menus, particularly in shop menus. I have tried several ROMs, un-installing and re-installing, etc.

WORTHLESS, UNUSABLE GARBAGE. Tried on several devices. Always crashes at random intervals. Most emulator "cores" are unusable (crash on load, extremely poor performance or accuracy, etc) and those that do perform "acceptably" keep crashing all the time.

Best emulator ever I can play from the first arcade game to the ps2 gaming system! You do need to know that cores are emulators and which one works best for the game and your phone/tablet

I love this "all-in-one" emulator so far. It plays ROMs for the PS1 generation on down very well. My only complaint to this point is that I don't really know how the cheat codes feature works.

Good idea poorly executed on android. Used to work quite well after lots of tweaking in the configuration menu. At some point in summer 2019 the exit to menu shortcut stopped working and got to kill the app and restart it just to exit a game

Honestly the worst emulating app in existence, I tried and failed to emulate some good games but it either showed me a jumbled up picture or doesn't even work!!! Do not install this app if you want to emulate some classic games!!!! I would rate it 0 out of 5 stars if I could

Can be a little daunting to start but once you get the hang of it, this software is amazing. Recent updates have really upped the ease of use. I recommend it to everyone. Thanks!

Intimidating at first, but there are a lot of guides in Google so it shouldn't be a problem. Best emulators are psexarm for PS1 and mGBA for Gameboy Advance.

For the most part pretty stable. Best emulator option I've tested so far. Love how retroarch supports so many cores (emulated systems) and devices) android Linux, desktop Linux, windows).

Pretty cool, but how do you remove the notification that an audio clip isn't supported? It's really annoying. Thx.

Controller Support Is Still Buggy. Using an XBox One controller and button mapping is all over the place. none of the MAME core work

Easily one of the best Retro game emulators. I have enjoyed many games, that may have cost me hundreds of dollars to buy, with this fantastic, all be it- slightly complicated, emulator

Great app overall. It has many options, and several features that aren't found in any other emulators on the play store.

Its good, and it does everything i want it to but it crashes all the time and its really annoying.

The app is good but some cores like the dream cast really needs to be improved because games like MVC2 even on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is lagging I am just giving out 5 stars because of Cave Story my favorite game

AHHHHHHHHHH The emulator is good once you get to actually get a game to work but omg doing stuff on this app is too complicated and there's no guides or tutorials online to help, everytime I click to use a cheat it crashes the app and it's an impossible task to find stuff in your folders

Pretty nice, A bit complicated, and there are better options for certain consoles, But its certainly up there. Would love to see a Symbian / N-Gage emulator in there.

I got this to play Persona 4 (PS2) but when I began to load the emulator to play after selecting the core and rom, it just turns off. I have tried reinstalling it but I still have the issue

It a fairly well built app will run most gamed you throw at it really well but it doesn't quite pick up the PS4 controller properly sadly

Horrible experience. Could not find how to change controller to 8bitdo. Game was in portrait mode with touchscreen controls. Interface is weird and annoying.

Perfect app. Closes the game when I try and load cheats. Shuts down the app but other then that thank you.

Configurations are not being saved on exit. I can save them manually but core settings like SNES aspect ratio can't be saved and the rom always loads as 4:3. Also very cumbersome to use a mouse in Samsung DeX as the cursor automatically drags the menu around.

Lots of cores available and no ads. Edit: The recent UI update is a huge improvement from before. Thank you!

Takes a bit of learning and figuring out, but works like a gem. Haven't had a problem yet.

Really good app been playing for years now and its always held up really good now more than ever.

It is an amazing emulator but it is way too complicated.

Having a blast playing old games using this medium as multiplatform for older consoles. (not sure multiplatform is a word though)

I'd like the option added to be able to remove/organise button locations. Having L/R buttons on screen is to cluttered when not used.

Quite simply the best emulator around. Need to work on sega saturn and gamecube emulation for android, but otherwise the best!!!

Its alright for a multiplatform emulator but having issues with the ps1 core the dream cast core also having issues with the 64 emulator control's

unfortunately this won't load any game everytime I click in a game it crashes instantly have a good idea but won't work fine

so easy to set up than the linux version and all of the stable core are here by default.

Gave 4 stars because this app performs well on my PC but horrible on my tablet (always 30 fps).

Amazing app. Thanks for allowing me to play my backups without my portables.

Good variety of emulators, but from what i have tested, all of them are slow and unplayable.

I am unable to load the cheats on android. on windows it works fine. each time i tried to enable the cheat the app just auto shutdown. btw im on 1.8.1

Suprisingly optimised and functional on android, menu is a bit clunky but the cores actually work

Great app.. Add free and a credit to its hard working community.

WHENEVER I TAP SOMETHING! IT'LL COME BACK UP!!! IT'S VERY USELESS IT TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX IT!!

Sonic Adventure fails to load. It just crashes on open or has a glitched screen.

Best emulator for a whole lot of games and consoles...wish they would up it to ps2 soon..😆😆

BEST EMULATION SOFTWARE! It's on many platforms, a ton of emulators packed into one continent package! Mobile, PC, raspberry pi!

Why did you guy remove some of the cores for mame now I cant run alot of games that I previously could. Its missing MAME MAME 2016 2015 2010

it only scans half of the directory for games then crashes and part of the games it finds after selecting it says file not found

Love how I can download many cores and play just about any type of rom Quite confusing at first tho

Love Retroarch also use it on linux a great app with a great team behind it, good job retroarch team

Doesn't get any better than this! Great program for PC and most modded consoles also... Must have for all retro game lovers!

Its good but too many setting, customize. All i want simple setting

cant give you a good experience since i cant even use it. everytime i open it up it crashes and closes out

Used to work, now it starts to extract assets, then crashes.

Wish it had a game cube emulator included cause I would love to play Luigi's Mansion and also windwaker

Not really sure why this is on google play when it doesn't work.

After your recent update I'm being unable to save and load the state. Please take necessary steps.

Way way to complex menu and setup for no good reason.

JoyCons not working properly, please fix!

To RetroArch Kudos !! great app it even kept my high scores in Mame

What did you guys do to retroarch.. The PPSSPP core is crashing the app.. 😤😤😤

Horrible emulator app. Wouldn't even load anything. Just a waste of storage.

Cores won't load anymore since the last update.

So Retroarch decided to crash on me and now the image it froze on is burned into my screen.

Amazing, can't imagine the work that went into this. It has been working well for me. A note, you may need to do some reading on setup or just use it for awhile. No ads, totally free and works incredibly well. If you can't get things going after reading and using it awhile try asking on forums. Also, may want to invest in a gamepad. For those that still complain it would be swell if you wrote your own suite as excellent as this one then offered it free to the world ads excluded on playstore.

Apk is not stable !!! It doesn't works in my (Nokia 5.1 plus) smartphone

Not working for hand held game and watch emulation pixel 4

Crashed whenever I try to load contents..

It's okay but netplay is very hard to setup

How can i widescreen the ps2 is cannot play beacuse the screen is flat

This emulator is perfect for every device. Good Job 👍👍👍

Amazing emulator app. No ads or IAP!

Can't load content from External SD Card

It's almost 2020 and this app still can't recognize the back button on a freakin android device (unbindable). Convoluted menus, no automatic config saving, stuff everyone else already pointed out. Retro, I get it, but jesus christ, the future is now old man. Good input latency on snes9x though.

Worst emulator I've ever tried. ROMs fail to start, menu is overwhelming and complicated. Definitely not user friendly, nothing is straightforward. I don't have time to go through hundreds of pages of documentation to figure it out. It should be easy as any of those retro systems you can buy.
