LibreOffice is the best free office suite on the desktop, and is now available on Android as a native application. LibreOffice Viewer supports many document formats:

• Open Document Format (odt, ods and odp)
• Microsoft Office 2007–2016 (docx, xlsx and pptx)
• Microsoft Office 97–2003 (doc, xls and ppt)

LibreOffice Viewer also comes with a preview of the editing functionality, which is considered an experimental feature and not stable enough for mission critical tasks. (Visit the Settings to enable this feature.)

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome, to help developers improve the quality of the application on its way to being a full-featured editor. You can report bugs and attach files that trigger them here: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org

LibreOffice Viewer is using the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, macOS and Linux. This, combined with a new front end based on Firefox for Android, reads documents similarly to LibreOffice on the desktop.

LibreOffice Viewer is released under the Mozilla Public License v2. The software is backed by a dynamic community, represented by The Document Foundation, a not for profit entity based in Germany.

Credits: LibreOffice Viewer has been developed by Collabora and Igalia, backed by Smoose, with contributions from Google Summer of Code students, in joint cooperation with The Document Foundation and the LibreOffice community. SUSE has provided a key foundation of cross platform support, and Mozilla Corporation several core components. Special thanks to hundreds of independent LibreOffice contributors, who have contributed to the source code since 2010.

LibreOffice was based on OpenOffice.org (commonly known as OpenOffice). Full credits: https://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/credits

Reviews From google play store

Displays diagnostic " attempt to get length of null array" when first started immediately after installation. And after installing, attempting to open a. ODT file in MyFiles viewer says there is no app for it. you have to use only the file browser built into Libre office. But... copy and paste does not work. Update: Install " Open document reader" by T. Taschauer instead. It seems to work perfectly.

18 Dec 2018... 3 stars 2day. l love Libre Office... the corporations probably do not make integration easy... keyboard: I installed jbak2 and got success at getting the keyboard to be available on my MetroPCS A6. After that the default system keyboard also became available (a clue for the devs😉). Oh, important: I enabled experimental editing mode first.

"LibreOffice Viewer also comes with a preview of the editing functionality, which is considered an experimental feature and not stable enough for mission critical tasks." I guess some of you can't even read before writing salty and dumb reviews and 1 staring it afterwards.. App is fine, you guys just can't read before turning trashy

The app cannot display more than one screen's worth of a directory's contents: you can't scroll down through a directory. Crashes on opening an .odt file. If I can't see all of my files, I can't edit them. This is an embarrassment to the Foundation. This app deserves zero stars. Go back to the beginning and redesign this, scrapping all of the current code.

I love Libre office on my desktop and laptop. Unfortunately this app on android has no use for me. Had to uninstall after 3 minutes. At all efforts to access my SD card immediately crashes. Therefore was never able to view a single document with it. I wish the developers well and I'll gladly try again in the future if there is some update made available.

I use Libre on my desktop but this viewer cannot access directories correctly. An incomplete list of folders are shown. No filter was selected or turned on... Any chance you guys will create a full Libreoffice suite on Android?

I use Libre Office on my PC and laptop and hate to rate it badly, but this app seems completely useless. I opened a ods file with it and cannot zoom in (impossible to read). I created a new file, just for testing, and cannot delete it.

"Buggy" doesn't even start to describe this mess. It used to work, so I wonder what happened? It crashes; it hangs; it doesn't allow scrolling; it won't open documents… oh dear.

I've been using libre office on my PC since 2015 it's a nice productivity software to use on PC if you can't afford Microsoft will recommend PC wise libre office. libre office android app in one word USELESS i can't edit, view or access .doc files i wouldn't recommend libre office for Android because it's not productive. Please libre office if you can't make your android app functional remove it from Google store.

As an open source nut, I'd love to see this project take over the Mobile arena. Alas, it might as well be a paperweight app as most everything it tries to do is broken to the point of unusability. Best to look elsewhere for now, and hope for a brighter future.

Desktop version is a little bit rough around the edges but it has a nice interface and does the job. Unfortunately, Android version needs work. Although it is possible to open files fairly quickly but that doesn't matter because you can"t zoom in or out so you can"t read anything. How is it possible that this app passed the quality checks?

Try and open an OpenDocument Text (".odt") file, the application just sits there with a spinning logo and doesn't do anything... Trying and open an OpenDocument Sheet (".ods") file, the same thing happens. What is the point of LibreOffice Viewer of you cannot open your own file formats? I'd rather use this over the proprietary solution I use now - but LibreOffice Viewer still needs a LOT of work before I can even think about recommending this to anyone...

The current version crashes every time I open a simple odt. Unusable. Andropen office does at least work, even if the user interface is grim on a mobile

1 star is definitely the correct rating. It won't even open the sample files. I note 1 person said those who rate it as 1 star cannot read. I would ask read what as there aren't any instructions!! As it is it is a waste of space on my mobile. I am going to remove it until it is put right and hopefully will become a fully blown editing packge on android. As far as I am concerned if other companies can produce such a a package so can you!!

thank you Libre office people for making this clean and fast app. The other office viewers are slow and full of ads. I wish that you live long and prosper. May God Bless you all

Mmm.. it doesn't get close to be like pc version. It's totally useless in this current state.

Broken and extremely unintuitive. I love libreoffice but this app needs a serious remake to compete with word and company

I like it. Fulfills my needs of viewing libre office files on my mobile device. I would like to see a cleaner, sharper interface but for viewing purpose desire only no reason to lower my review for the developers of my go to office suite's android port. Look forward to future updates.

Android 8.1.0, definitely. released before quality checked; using LibOffice, OpenOffice,StarOffice, since beginning. Current. version critiqued=18Feb2018. verylongload time, 5min for a 16k .also;; once opened, screen magnification =too small to read; no icons showing, even after 15min; glad to test, if better offering; current should be pulled!

It's fairly usable. My 3 main issues are being unable to zoom in on sheets on my phone and the application crashing a lot and the hardware keyboard not working on a Chromebook.

I delayed rating because I really wanted to give it a great rating after multiple bugs and limitations were dealt with. But, it's been abandoned for a year now and it's pretty much worthless as is.

This worked fine for a month or two, and then stopped working. Anything I try to open (word files etc), it pauses for a moment but then doesn't open the file. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn't work.

Does open Word ".docx" files but loses most formatting. Has major problem opening files (.odt) created by LibreOffice on the PC. So, it sort of handles MS documents but can't handle its own documents. Go figure...

okay, so *that* is the official one. Fine. OK for viewing, but too many presented yet unimplemented or broken features. For example, you can create a new file, but you can't edit or delete it afterwards. And scrolling a spreadsheet is nightmare. Even google freakin' drive does better job for viewing od*-s.

Works great on my android device. Was able to open and read a docx document and that was just what I needed at that time. Other apps asked too much, such as personal info, being online(?), accesing camera(?). This one does not.

I am sorry I have to agree with the other reviews; at the moment the app dos not work at all. The only thing that is working is that it is showing the files and directories, but it cannot open any file, just keeps spinning. What apity, a real LibreOfiice really is needed on Android.

I just wanted to open ODTs but the starting user interface wants me to set up a cloud server? Why make a redundant feature mandatory?

Crash and back to main menu when I open some .odt document. Plz fix it, and I hope this app works perfectly on my other phones. Thx.

Having no zoom capability makes viewing even a simple spreadsheet difficult and a large one impossible. This needs work, but I don't think anyone is listening.

I can't scroll in the file list. It just hangs when I try to open an ods file. Simply does not work.

Can't do a thing with this useless app! I was hoping for so much better, but nothing!

App froze a lot, and struggled to display most files in a remotely usable or smooth way. Not ready for prime time. I wanted it to work, but it mostly let me down.

It doesn't work. Cannot create or open any type if files. Hangs on white/grey screen with "spinning" arrow and that is all. Unlike the desktop version, that one is pure rubbish. You either fix it or remove it from the Play store.

I love Libreoffice, but the Android version has bugs. If I use it to open an XLS document attached to an email I can see the document, but it is so small that I can't read it, and there is no means of zooming. Also, I can only see the first page.

0 stars as it is completely useless. Fails to open simple text documents I created with Libre on my PC.

This product doesn't work on android. It just keep spinning. Fix this major bugs as it annoys the users.

Can't even open a file on an SD card. Can't navigate my folders. Can't even complain or find help without creating an account somewhere. This isn't an app, it's a joke!

Longtime Libre desktop user, looked gorward to this, but is NG. Slow to open files. Print tiny & would not permit expanding.

Takes too long to open a password-protected file. It almost took 6+ seconds to open a file which only contained "test".

I Very useful for reading docs on my phone. In my office we wee a development organization and we created literally thousands of documents first using StarOffice, then OpenOffice and finally switching over to LibeOffice. Interestingly (as far as Ican rmember) wthe LibreOffice viewer has been able to display every one of them which I tried (out of curiosiy) without a whiccup.
