Kinder is a super simple name choosing app. Through Kinder you can quickly swipe name suggestions you like to the right and dismiss the ones you don’t like.

You get one name set for free based on your location and if you want you can easily buy additional name sets for a small fee. Purchased name sets will also be available for your partner.

You can connect to your partner to find matches.

Kinder has over 18.000 names in the library with a grand variety in origins so you can find that unique name that your child will write history with!

FAQ’s
Why are extra name sets not free?
Of course it would be great if you could have them all for free, but unfortunately it’s not a sustainable way to keep the app in the Play Store. You get one set for free and additional name sets are available for a small fee. Hopefully you understand.

I can’t connect to my partner, please help!
If you can’t connect it might be that the connection code is expired. Please try to invite each other once more. If that doesn’t help it might be your time settings; those must be set to automatic, otherwise the connection mechanism can’t connect you unfortunately.

I don’t see our matches?
We try to update matches every 30 seconds. So please bear with us! If after that time you still don’t see them, please try to restart the app.

If I purchase a name set, will my partner also get these?
Yes! It might not show up in a split second, but if you’re connected purchases will be shared.

I bought a new phone, what will happen with my Kinder likes?
We are very sorry, unfortunately we don’t have a feature to save your likes, dismisses and matches just yet. We are working on a solution to save these though.

Who runs Kinder?

Kinder is app started by me; Krijn Haasnoot. I’m a Dutch guy who had an idea after having dinner with a couple of friends years ago. They were having their first child and my question was: ‘How do you find a name?’. Their answer was: ‘Probably some books, the internet, family’. I immediately thought, ‘that can be more fun’ and I came up with the idea of using an intuitive swipe like selection mechanism used by another app, but than with baby names! And it should be able to match likes between partners!’

I don’t think Kinder is the end solution to choose the name for your child, I just hope to inspire, get the discussion going in a positive way and help out! Having a baby is a fun, sacred, but also tiring and possibly stressful time. Let’s take a small thing out and make it nicer.

As you can read, Kinder is just a small one-man company.

This app is super buggy. I love the concept, but when buying all name sets and filtering per language or per letter, it just resets automatically meaning it won't let me filter by the letter A or by Aboriginal names (for example). What's more annoying, it repeats the matches my partner and I have already agreed upon. Also, the app crashes repeatedly and won't restart. I'd ask for a refund but the developer can keep the money to develop something better because this isn't good enough.

Downloaded this app about 18 months ago for our first child. It was fun, the names were all there for free and no ads. Now you have to pay and there's this ridiculous ad flashing at you the whole time. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee to get rid of ads and to get all the names, but this is excessive. Will just go back to using the name books!

Its ok - i wish there were more names. Doesnt have alot of names to select, even with the option of all packs. I didn't see mine or my husbands English names. It repeats the same like 5 names over and over in between others which is annoying. Some name packs also appear to have no names in them which is weird. Its good though, when you purchase 'all name packs' your partner also receives it, so no need to pay twice.

This app gets boring. Would be good if it had the option to view names in a list instead of just the swipe view. I paid for all the names as well, and had trouble with the settings to display selected genres of names.

Average. Good idea, but it didn't even have mine or my wife's name in it and we had bought all the English/Scottish libraries and our names are English/Scottish. Not sure why there are so many English libraries either, seems a con. Only took 1 evening to swipe through all of the names of 5 libraries - so not a great collection to be honest (male & female). Good potential, but lacking depth.

Hi, I love the app, but could someone please help me with a refund request. I accidently purchased 2 name packs before realising there was a pack for the complete set. So I made 2 purchases followed by a purchase for the entire pack. Could it be possible to get a refund on the single purchases please and I'll just purchase the main pack (which I have already done).

TL:DR; Lifesaver and time-saver. Inspiring. Helps you get this done. Boils you down to that shortlist in no time. Inspires along the way. Suggestive. Not prescriptive. Culturally inclusive. Internationally aligned.

When we used for our first all the name packs were free. Now you have to pay. Developers should have stuck with the ad revenue. We will do it the old fashioned way.

Easy to use, loved the app when you had access to all the names prior to having to purchase the additional lists, now you can run out of the names quickly. Love that you can link with your partner and find names you both agree on.

Use to be able to go though many different types of names and have more liked names. Now you have to pay for everything. Wonderful concept, but just a money grab now.
