Use joints, bones and muscles to build creatures that are only limited by your imagination. Watch how the combination of a neural network and a genetic algorithm can enable your creatures to "learn" and improve at their given tasks all on their own. IMPORTANT: This is a simulator and not a game! If you are not interested in the concepts of natural selection, genetic algorithms and neural networks and watching them work together then this is probably not the app you're looking for! Everyone else, please continue reading :) The tasks include running, jumping and climbing. Can you build the ultimate creature that is good at all of the tasks? I want to stress again that there are no real objectives. Even if a creature of yours reaches 100% fitness, you don't win anything except for (hopefully) lots of excitement and joy. IMPORTANT (again): The simulation is pretty CPU heavy so it will crash on most old and/or low-powered devices. If your device does not meet these minimum performance requirements you should NOT download this app! If you just experience some lag you might be able to improve the fps by lowering the population size in the start menu. For more information on how the algorithm works behind the scenes and everything else you might be interested in click on the "?" button in the creature building scene. 1.1 Update: You can now save and load your simulation progress. There is also a Mac & PC version available for download and a browser version for you to try out on the main project website (keiwan.itch.io/evolution).

The game is very neat.but I would like you to add a feature called animate.after every 10 generation.you get to animate your creature by moving joints and muscles! you cannot expand or shorten these parts but you can turn them around any way you want.it is optional if you want to animate in every 10 generations.and you cannot animate again in the same generation.you must wait another 10th generation to do So.thanks!

Let's you play at seeing how evolution works by designing "simple" figures and turning them loose. UI needs a little dressing up, and wish it was expandable, but still entertaining.

I have a big problem with this game at the moment. Every time I get to generation 5 my game suddenly freezes and my creation does not save. But other than that this game is fun and amazing

Never gets old, I can play this for hours. The only thing is that it doesn't save the ai (or I'm just not seeing how). Bu overall, game good. Also, a suggestion I have is make conditions, like it can't touch these bones/joints, another is make a rope-like connector that connects to bones and joints.

I don't know if you're still working on this but often times the creatures just stiffen up and vibrate it's limbs extremely fast, you don't even see the limbs moving but it still glides the creature forward like it's on ice. It really ruins a lot of possible creations because for more complex creatures it'll learn to vibrate before it learns to actually move, in the end they just end up being boring gliding static objects

The app is fun to use for about a week before you stop using it, I have had it on my phone for a while but at random times no matter what I'm doing, the app will open itself and try to get me to play.

the AI works well, as a person who finds themseves intrugied by mechanics and programing, this simple game could be the accual start of robots who know nothing and learn everything by experience. and that's coming from a 13-year-old, 5 stars lad.
