Permissions required are completely unrelated. App is broken. Cannot add a device. Failure at first step to choose the icon. Able to add in still working ios app.

All 4 of my remotes used to work with Google Home, but as of a few days ago, just stopped. Unlink and re-link works, and the GH says it's performing the requested action, but nothing happens. All devices still work with this app, but that's not why I bought them; if I wanted to push buttons on a remote, I'd just use the remotes that came with the TVs, etc.. Now, I have 4 useless pieces of black plastic.

I am extremely unhappy with the 11/6/18 update. The app will not even launch if I don't give it all the permission it asked for. It is a remote control, with this version, I can't even turn on an appliance without allowing the app to access you contact info. This is unacceptable. I don't see any reason that the app needs my contact info, my location, my camera once it is setup correctly, just to turn on my fan, or my tv. This is not a free app. I have to pay for the hardware to work with the app. I am asking that the manufacturer to immediately remove this permission requirement. The hardware is useless otherwise.

biggest issue I and othera who I know use this is, when you tell alexa to turn something on it will turn the device on and then off really quick, as if its sending the signal twice really fast. it has been doing this for over a year, I am surprised it hasn't been fixed. buttons have been relearned many times, the device is sending the same IR code multiple times

Unnecessary use of permissions has been reported in other reviews and the dev has said they're looking into it. Now the app will not function at all without these permissions. Location and phone permissions are necessary to streamline setup using nearby devices (this can be done without nearby devices using AP mode setup), but there are no reasons to require these permissions on an ongoing basis, and now to enforce them with an error message in-app. The app has worked perfectly without them.

Why in the world does this new version of the app require access to the phone book, to the microphone, the camera, etc., pretty much everything? This is a bit concerning... I'm thinking it may be time to look at other options. I suggest Broadlink rethink this, and soon. Where is Broadlink located, and there been concern about spying there? 🙄

Used to be a great app. Now suddenly they want access to everything on my phone: contacts, phone calls, etc. There's no reason to have access to anything on my phone. Beware as they might try to get personal info off of your phone. Uninstalled. ,..............................Thanks for the reply but I don't believe that. The app worked just fine before WITHOUT having access to my contacts, phone calls, etc. Try again.

I have google wifi. It sends out 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi simultaneously. The RM mini 3 only supports 2.4Ghz. Fine. Because my phone connects to the 5Ghz band, this app says, "Oh no! That's 5Ghz wifi! The RMMini3 can't connect!" Even though the wifi is also 2.4Ghz. I can't find any kind of workaround. All my devices that connect to 2.4 are so old that the IHC app doesn't support them. And all the devices that can run IHC connect automatically to the 5Ghz band. So what do I do?

it works acceptably, but DEMENDS ACCESS to PHONE, LOCATION, CAMERA AND MICROPHONE. how about hell no. and you can't use the app without enabling it. used to be fine but just... no. to response: how come no other app needs it then? response 2: "the information we need is device id code". is that in my contacts and phone history? is that accessed through the microphone? You don't "need" it, you want it so you can sale my data. don't buy this product.

Requiring IMEI, geolocation, camera and storage permissions is so shady! None of those are wanted by me to control my RF fan. I don't want them to have ANY of those permissions and none of them are needed for what I want to use it for. It'd be one thing if those were optional, but they're not. Major privacy concerns and totally unnecessary permissions "required". Don't buy their BS about them being needed. They are not needed and the fact that they say they are is even more suspicious.
