Hound is the best way to search using your natural voice.
What do we mean by natural voice? Instead of talking like a search query "OK Hound… Find Chinese restaurants", just ask "OK Hound… What are the top-rated Chinese restaurants near me?" You'll be amazed at the lightning-fast response.
Want to try something more advanced? Hound can use follow-up questions and commands to filter, sort, or add more information to the original request. Give this a shot: "OK Hound… Find Asian restaurants rated 4 stars or more within walking distance of CN Tower and exclude Chinese, Korean, and Thai"
But Hound isn't limited to restaurants and coffee shops. Use Hound to:
Make your driving easier with Hound In Car:
“OK Hound… Help me drive”
“OK Hound… How long does it take to drive home?”
“OK Hound… Drive to the closest gas station”
Search, discover, and play music:
- “OK Hound... What song is playing?”
- “OK Hound... Play the top hits by Celine Dion”
Access Spotify with hands-free controls:
“OK Hound… Show my Spotify playlists”
“OK Hound… Play my Discover Weekly playlist”
“OK Hound… Skip to the next song”
Research and get trivia answers quickly:
- “OK Hound... When was Justin Bieber born?"
- “OK Hound... Tell me about the constellation Lyra"
- “OK Hound... Tell me about the Amazon River"
Set alarms and timers:
- "OK Hound… Set an alarm for 7am every weekday"
- "OK Hound… Set a timer to take out the chicken in 40 minutes"
Get the latest news:
- “OK Hound… Show me the latest news headlines”
- “OK Hound… Play me the latest news from NPR”
- “OK Hound… What is stock price of Amazon?”
Call, text, navigate handsfree:
- “OK Hound… Call Alexa at work"
- “OK Hound… Text Jeff ‘I’ll be there in five minutes’”
- “OK Hound… Show me directions to the nearest Loblaws”
Get the weather forecast:
- “OK Hound… What’s the weather going to be like tomorrow at 6pm?
- “OK Hound… How about in Vancouver in two weeks?”
Plan a night out at the movies:
- "OK Hound… What movies are playing near me around 7pm?"
- "OK Hound… What are the top action movies in theaters right now?"
- "OK Hound… What movies are playing in IMAX?"
Book an Uber:
- "OK Hound… How much is an Uber to the airport?"
- "OK Hound… Get an Uber to the nearest movie theater"
Search for hotels and plan your travel:
- “OK Hound… Show hotels in Toronto that are pet-friendly, have a gym, and cost less than $275”
Numbers, calculations, and even mortgage estimates:
- “OK Hound… What is a prime number?”
- “OK Hound… What is the square root of 16 minus the square root of 9?”
- "OK Hound… Split a $96 bill two ways with a 15% tip"
- "OK Hound… What's the monthly payment for a $500,000 house with 20% down?"
What will you use Hound for?
Hound takes speed and accuracy to a new level thanks to our powerful Houndify platform, combining Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding into a single step. We call it Speech-to-Meaning (TM). Other assistants simply translate words into text, and the do a voice search the old way. But just recognizing words isn't fast enough! Hound, powered by Houndify, is the fastest and most accurate independent voice assistant in the market today.

I absolutely adore the potential of this app. When it works it feels great and natural. However it has a problem of crashing constantly defeating the purpose of having it. I can't wait for an update so I can revise my review because I really want it to work. EDIT Ok so messing around with the permissions I've found that when given permission to access my calendar (Google), it caused Hound to repeatedly crash. Disabling that permission seems to allow Hound to run smoothly.

What good is sending a text hands-free if it can't read replies? I used the competition, but I hate supporting an overwhelming monopoly or duopoly. However, I can't remember the last time this did anything useful. Play music? Pull over and work through some permission settings, then fail anyway.

I had this app when you had to be invited to install. when this app was first introduced years ago, it seemed so advanced; but now it's not as good as Google assistant. The only 1-up is that you can ask hound multiple questions at once, but it doesn't work as well as it used to and its limited in what you can ask. it's just an app that clashes with my Google assistant now.

It seems food so far. I would like to see it attempt to get to know the user better and memorize more things like maybe having the ability to tell it family members names and being able to make connections in contacts... but the main reason I'm probably not going to use it is the for awful voice. It has potential but I don't see it being anymore fun or useful than Google.

This app needs lots of work. I have dealt with voice recognition since trying to incorporate it into Commodore and Atari systems. Trying to be glib, suggesting a better solution - dig up your dead grandparents, hell dig up your great grandparents and sitting close to the bodies, start a normal conversation. Your success will actually be a little bit better with the dead bodies than HOUND. Have to go, grandma wants me to ask questions about the afterlife. This is a Dead Dog. "OK Grandma..."

  6. Scott Bean-avatar

Had to uninstall. It kept popping up asking me if I was driving even though the push notifications were turned off. If I want to use it, I'll turn it on. I don't need it popping up all the time. Imagine if every app thought that it knew better than me of when it should be turned on. I hate when programmers think that their app is so important that they continuously bug you to use it. Three stars as it seems useful. Just let me use it when I want to instead of forcing on me.

    A Google user

this app isn't that bad, but if you really want to understand what Hound is saying, slow her speech all the way down to 0.5x, when i first open this app asking "what is the weather today?" she speaks so fast, i had to slow her feedback down also, she can't understand what i'm saying by asking her what i said: "do you know anything about pewdiepie?" she hears "do you knos anything about Pizza Pie? when you speak slowly and clear, she cuts you off

It was a great app for a while. It does cover a lot of functions I need it to do...saying that though there was a negative side for me...when I'm trying to have a conversation with someone if I am speaking in a normal register the app goes off all the time and starts recording what I am saying and then opening random web browsers. Other than that I like the design and functions.

After searching, and searching for a half decent voice assistant-- Hound wasn't it. Hound is amazing. It's extremely smart, questions can get very detailed, and it replies with a great a answer. Love that it works so well with SoundHound, although I will say, I wish it didn't have SoundHound built in, I kinda just wish it would give a more dumbed down version for the built in aspect.

Best alternative the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, I have been using it for quite a while and I am really satisfied with it, love the new beta: "Ok Hound" Anytime feature. All that is left to make me completely forget about the other assistants is the option to allow it to "Permit Drawing Over Other Apps" in system settings so it displays over apps partly when you say "Ok Hound" outside the app. I made a photo of a concept like this but I can't put photos in
