The hiSG mobile application is brought to you by the Health Promotion Board (HPB), exclusively for participants of the Health Insights Singapore (hiSG) study. The hiSG mobile app is designed to provide hiSG participants with a more seamless and engaging study experience by allowing them to respond directly to study questionnaires on the app and log their meals taken via the app’s meal logging tool. Participants are also able to track their progress in the study, earn Healthpoints for participation in study activities, as well as gain deeper insights on their health via the app.

requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections

    12/9/19: performance is now much better after latest update. Will monitor and update as time passes The app had its up and (mostly) down. After being very slow, laggy and buggy for a long period, there were obvious speed/performance in the last couple of months. The latest updates, while improve on the UI, cause the app to be very slow and laggy again.. wish that the developers will do a thorough test before pushing out the updates

    27 SEP: Getting better Old: A timely update to resolve the extreme slowness. HPB, please redesign your app and make it better. The recent update made the already hard to use app worse. if you want accurate logging, spend your funds wisely and engage a good mobile app development house to do it. This will motivate users to log more details willingly.

    Could be improved if time defaults to actual time of meal logging rather than 00.00. A few Small choice buttons for common choices like .25, .5, 1 that one could Tap without needing to open drop down portion dialog box. Likewise for source of food, common choices are Home, Supermarket. Too much unnecessary scrolling and tapping. There's plenty of blank spaces to implement this. Give us an Auto claim check box so that we don't have to tap to claim. Again, why make us do unnecessary taps to claim.

    Can't log meals after app update! Thought update would enrich usage experience, as the app has only basic features. But instead of seeing improvements, even the basic logging of meal logging is not working now. Should not have released the update when it's not quality tested!

    Update: so much better after a recent upgrade! Am going back to recording meals regularly instead of just the bare minimum. The HiSG staff are always nice so I feel terrible writing this, but HPB really shouldn't have allowed this app to see the light of days. The lagginess is unparalled. Please at least give us an alternative way to log meals. I also don't get why we need to claim the HPs one by one. Wouldn't have been an issue if a single click doesn't take on average 10 seconds though...

    This is one of the worst app I have used so far. In the past 3 months of usage...a couple of "upgrades" to the app was introduced, only to make it from bad to worst. I dont know how many times I had uninstall and re-install this app, and the amount of time wasted on waiting for the app to function. Even till today the app development team is still indifferent to the various issues: 1) taking ages for app to load when you toggle between tabs 2) app hangs when you claim points 3) many more...

    App is super laggy and non-responsive. Forever loading screen... sync-ing data takes forever... logging meals is super painful, as app does not seem to respond at all. a simple task now takes minutes to perform. Should just auto-claim points. really waste of time to claim points when app is non-responsive. very frustrating experience. If app is non-functioning, pls remove the requirement to log meals until app is properly fixed. 😭👎

    App is super laggy, it takes a few minutes for the app to react after I try to do any action. Please improve on this. It doesn't help that we have to manually claim the points everyday. Why not just auto credit the points, why do we still have to click and collect when it takes so much time for the app to react to a simple touch?

    If I could give a negative for this app, I would. It takes more than an hour for me to log a day's meals, and the claiming of points, as others have mentioned, takes ages. My phone's battery dropped from 97% to 66% just to log meals and claim points. Our reviews should seriously be taken into consideration.

    your app is horribly slow and laggy like others have said, it's seriously getting worse and worse! other issues I faced was that I tried logging meals and that it never registered the meal. I also have tried claiming points; the app took sooo long to load that I killed the app and reopened, and my points was no longer there for me to claim! Please lah, you want people to treat this study seriously please also do your part.

    I emailed them with the suggestions below to hopefully improve the app's loading speed and usability. 1. Allow meal tracker to be auto-synced with other apps (e.g. Healthy 365, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal), so that meal info keyed in those apps will be updated on hiSG. 2. Adding a claim all healthpoints button. All I got was the template answer (feedback noted, we will review it), i.e. forget it we're not changing anything.

    App has gotten progressively more laggy since the previous update. Whilst I appreciate the team uploading more of different photos and content for the sake of the study, at least show us an indication of any background updates so that we know that the error isn't on our devices. Nobody will be inclined to log data when it takes 60 secs to select 1 dish, snd another 30 secs to claim 2 points.

    Kept getting "Error Logging Meals", emailed hiSG to enquire. Guy who replied me recommended i reinstall the app, "should work after reinstallation" he replied. Well i did, but the hiSG app only allows users to "Sign On", there was no "Log In" option. Obviously i can't "Sign On" a 2nd time, and that what happened. The app is stuck at the part where i "Sign On" with my NRIC i.e. the app won't start. Before this i can still log 2 out of 3 of the requirements. Now its 0 out of 3. "Great" job hiSG.

    Despite being advised to reinstall the app, sll the functions in the app are still super laggy, especially so when it comes to syncing and claiming the healthpoints, and it doesn't help that you can only claim the healthpoints one by one. Please look into this asap! HPB really ought to check out this app themselves. The lagginess is unbearable!

    this is a crappy app. the research result will never be accurate given the sluggishness. many things does not make sense. 1) the slowness 2) the dashboard 3) the claiming of points 4) the forcing of fitbit watch face to have crappy hisg watchface. if it is funded by taxpayers money. im utterly disappointed. absolutely frustrating. playstore and appstore should removed this.

    Terrible is an understatement. Deserves a 0. Recent update made it even slower. Almost impossible to log a meal. Even force changed the Fitbit clock face into a poor HiSG one which shows 0 for all stats, probably reading from its own ultra slow server. Guess my finger is supposed to get fitter from the repeated tapping, and it's supposed to train me to become a more patient man.

    So unmotivated to log meals. Loading takes forever, consistently have errors and worse is when after entering many items, cannot save and upload. Also many food items calory count seem highly inaccurate. Lastly, I suggest creating mix rice entry options eg rice+2veg+1chicken and reduce the very granular ones that people are rarely using.

    increased rating by a star because app finally isnt overly laggy MOST of the time. great that progress is included, but it seems to have an error. i have obviously completed my sleep task, as seen from the sleep calendar, but yet it is still displayed as i did not complete. please check and fix.

    As many have written, the performance on the app is less than ideal. One easy change is to do away with manual claims for healtpoints. All you really need is a manual sync (together with auto sync) for tabulating the healthpoints to be awarded to the user.

    Here we go again. Again new feature is push to our app. And now the app lags so much it is usable, again. Again, it is with the inputting of our daily meals.     Unusable app. Attempts to log any meals will cos the app to lag for 5 to 10 mins every step of the way. i just logged 2 meals for today and it took me about 30 mins. Honestly, HPB should just remove the meals logging requirements given the state of the app now.

    It was once ok. However 15 Jan update made the logging part extremely slow. Any single action, such as changing date, searching for a meal or claiming points, will cause the whole APP slow and no response. Why not have a function to claim all points?

    After the last update yesterday, I can no longer open the app because it says that my phone is rooted even though it's not.. what is going on? How am I supposed to sync my data? I've been using this Phone since I was onboarded a year ago.. Can someone fix this?

    Finally, thank you for fixing the slow loading time in the app! This app is much more snappy and responsive now, even though there is still some loading time after claiming all the points one by one, the logging of meals is much easier now.

    This is not even worth 1 star. App is extremely slow. It at least around 3 seconds to process each command. Can something be done? It's frustrating to even open the app, not to mention logging meals.

    The only cons is uneditable food log. Sometimes you key wrongly and accidentally submit but can't edit. And also why need to do double work when I've already selected a food portion and origin of food, why doesn't it automatically choose it but have to click it and then click done? It makes logging food a hassle and makes me only doing the bare minimum

    It takes very long to load a page or drop-down list. Logging a single meal becomes a chore, and usually take at least few minutes to log an item.
