  1. Marky Marc-avatar

I have been communicating with their email support for 3 days. They take forever to reply and when they finally do get back to you... that's where it gets really fun. Every single reply that I've gotten can be found word-for-word on the frequently asked questions (FAQ) page. Their team member, Snow, is actually copying and pasting from their FAQ page. That is not helpful at all Hinge! It's a shame I have to change my 4-star review, but this is becoming a pain in my butt

  2. Ian Loveall-avatar

Usually a good app but the customer support is none existant. Account locked me out for "not being old enough" (I'm 24) and support hasn't gotten back to my messages even once. Deleted and redownload and nothing changes.

  3. Jason L-avatar

I've had this app for a while, and up until recently it was a bit disappointing. The amount of members skyrocketed with most people practicing social distancing. Overall it's a great app. I think that profiles should possibly have a little more information. Knowing what a person is looking for and having the option to search accordingly, (relationship, friendship, long or short-term dating, or even hook-ups to be specific) would improve the functionally of the app. :).

  4. Damian Hyde-avatar

They weren't lying, its an app designed to be deleted. You have to pay just to be able to filter your matches properly or you will spend most of your time swiping left. The only redeeming factor is you don't have to worry about coming up with intro messages, just one click he. Why write a unique message to a user when most just delete the message if they are not interested. I wish this app offered features that are free in other apps, like filter by age, ethnicity, body type, and distance.

  5. Destiny Marie-avatar

I found this app glitchy. Never told me when I got a message or a match despite making sure the notifications were ON. Then the price for the membership is absolutely ridiculous, especially for what little it offers. You get the same results whether you pay for it or not. I found no one interesting, and most matches were creeps that had nothing in common with me. The obscure questions still give off little knowledge of you, and you're only allowed 3 questions.

  6. Andrew Renault-avatar

Pretty solid dating app that's built to encourage dialogue from the get-go. The UI is really clean and easy to use. However, it lacks the ability to use GIFs, and there is no built-in video chat option despite pleadings to "date from home". The paywall also happens rather suddenly and forcefully - it's much more harsh than Tinder or Bumble. All in all, Hinge is good if you can look past its flaws.

  7. Marc Prenger-avatar

Hinge used to be great, but every day I see the same profiles selling sexual services with explicit pictures and videos in the profiles. They all use the same text but different pictures/videos, so you'd think it would be easy enough to block them from being created. Disappointed that the reporting system doesn't seem to be effective in getting rid of these profiles. I really enjoyed this app, but I'm afraid it's going the way of all other dating apps, inundated with bots that don't get curated.

  8. Cathryn Lim-avatar

I cannot recommend this app highly enough. It's easy to use, free to chat to people, and you can see who liked you. And, unlike other apps, you can see what people are liking you for. The only 2 issues I have, which others have also commented upon, are that; it's only on mobile, and sometimes, the chat zips all the up to the top so, you have to scroll almost endlessly to reach the most recent conversation 😅 But, other than that, it's amazing. Thank you 😊💖

  9. Kathryn White-avatar

Hinge is okay, but the format is pretty limited in conveying any information about a person. Unless you pay you're forced to make snap decisions on people based on a few slightly lame joke answers to set questions, some photos, and the basic info. The app is also a bit buggy (every time I open a conversation with a match it's at the first message, so I have to scroll for ages to get to the latest messages) and could do with a quick tour when you join so you know what the features are.

  10. be dede-avatar

Many apps out there seem to be scams or have fake profiles. My experience of this is genuine profiles. Even had a date before lockdown, still had matches and chats since. I don't have premium, but it still works. I would probably upgrade if less money and easy to opt in & out. I think this is where a lot of apps fail, need to be like Netflix, Spotify prices, convience. I might pay for one month, but not till after lockdown, this is one of the best, I prefer it over tinder or pof.

  11. Zach Johnson-avatar

Last 3 days I have logged in to this app, it has shown me the same people I liked or passed on. So I have been living deja vu with this app and it's bloody annoying. Feels like it's forcing me to try and match with certain people. Maybe when I pay I get a better variety. I don't know. But I don't recommend unless you like seeing the same people day after day.

  12. Ludovic Renel-avatar

Pretty decent app, like the amount of info and prompts. There's also some cool positive anecdotes and advice on their insta page. Especially around dating courtesy, and a lot about ghosting being poor form. When you choose to unmatch with someone the app asks for a reason, eg 'no reason', 'not interested', or 'fake account', etc. Would be nice if there was an option of 'they never replied' or 'they ghosted' on here.

Onky have had it a few days, but so far so good. It's got it's own personality unlike any other dating app. I really love how you can like users photos, or comment on them before you swipe. The app makes interacting between matches more personal than the other popular apps and it is very clean and smooth to use. This is a sort of premature review, having not used it for long. I will come back and edit this rating if need be.

  14. Jeffrey Smith-avatar

Pretty solid dating app. The features all make sense for the platform and there is a reason to pay if you want some added benefits. It's a little hard to get to know someone from their profile, but I think the point is to start talking right away. Only issue was the character limit. Made it hard to be witty sometimes.

  15. Viv B-avatar

Terrible. Works well for three days then you get stuck in an endless loop. Everytime you open the app you see the exact same sequence of profiles. Every single time. It's infuriating. So muc so that I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Guess what, I lost my purchases. Now it won't let me restore my three month membership of which I have a month and a half left.

  16. Matt Doe-avatar

The best option for "slow dating" and relationship-oriented people but there's issues. Please fix the disappearing messages bug!! Why not have a ghosting option for reasons for unmatching if you're trying to discourage it on this app? 90% of the time I'm unmatching nonresponsive people, not "I'm not interested in this person" or "no reason". Since it's against the TSA, why no report option for "this person isn't looking for a relationship" when there's profiles clearly stating "casual only"?

The concept is interesting and different from other apps like tinder and such which is good if that's what you'relooking for. but I've been using this both on the free ver and the paid, and I have to say that its not good either way. I've had it for a while now and I've only gotten 2 matches and not one single "like", either im completely unattractive to everyone or this app is a sham and filled with a lot of bots or people who deleted the app and forgot to log out. Take this as you will

  18. Serena Turner-avatar

Paid subscription only to lose all suggestions! Despite me being interested in plenty of suggestions! Why, because there's no tutorial to tell you how this very different dating app works. No warnings of how different. I asked for a refund but no & they 'can't' reset my account! Now I'm over £38 down for no service! Strangely they can't refund me but I can delete account, start another account & pay another £38! Seemed such a different way but customer service beyond poor !

  19. Holt M-avatar

The prompts and required pictures/answers are a great feature. However, the chat is super buggy! Every now and then some of my matches replies don't show up. Let's say they sent 3 messages in a row, I'm left with only 1 of their messages and it's getting awkward to keep asking them to resend. I know they sent these other messages because I can see their responses on my lock screen. One of my friends with a different device also has this issue. Would be lovely if this issue could be sorted.

Well, they broke the like picture/first message screen a couple of versions ago. If one fills up the text box the button for sending the message is not visible. The email exchange with support was utterly useless, support couldn't comprehend the problem. The app regularly tells me that there are no more matches, which I know is not true. If for nothing else because just now I was viewing one, stepped away for a minute, the app updated or restarted, I got logged off and now I have no more matches. Other than that, I'm just probably really unattractive, because in this app nobody seems to like me, hahaha

  21. Simon C-avatar

Ok. Would be good if you could have more basic filters in the free version. Be prepared to match with many you wouldnt normally because you can only choose age and location/distance as the two filters in freeware. Dont want to date a smoker? You have to pay to filter that out. Not into druggies? Gotta pay to filter those out. What about if you're single and not really wanting to date single parents? You have to pay to filter those out too. Novel idea. But after matching same as other sites

  22. Leah Knowles-avatar

I don't like the addictive nature of it and would prefer if you limited the discover tab in some way (like a certain number per day). I'd also like to know if someone is inactive on the app (they just didn't delete it). Other apps tell you when the last time the person was active on it, and that would be helpful.

  23. Brittany Terrell-avatar

Only giving 2 stars because it is an app you can pay for but the chatting is still glitchy. Sometimes I get a message I can't read. However I did meet a guy a really like talking to and he hates that he can't react to individual messages. You should add a button like messenger. Also it would be nice to send pictures too. Maybe with an option to approve the message before you open it? I understand why there isn't that option but still would be nice

  24. Joe Congdon-avatar

This has to be one of the greatest schemes I've ever seen in an app. The programmers are quite brilliant, but it shows just how much information they can pull from just your photos. Hinge has an advanced algorithm that only shows you the most passed on people in your area. They would show you the others in your area... For a price. How do they ensure that you keep using the app? If you match with someone the app will drop your messages and matches. Now the person I want to talk to is gone.

  25. John Huffman-avatar

The design and Layout of the App is great, the app is smooth and responsive. I like the chat interface with your potential matches. It's almost as easy as texting. The biggest downside and the reason I give this App only two stars is due to it not letting me Filter my potential matches enough. So literally you will have to sort through hundreds of potential matches one at a time. It is such a waste of time. They force you into viewing people you may not particularly enjoy seeing.

  26. Kyland Gadson-avatar

This app does well when it comes to finding people close to your area to get to know. The compatibility message helps you stop and review someone a little more, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. The messaging is a little iffy to me. I will receive a Like from someone, send them a reply message saying hello, and do not receive a reply back. I can't tell if it's just people playing around and ghosting or if my messages are not going through and it looks like I'm ghosting well-intentioned men.

  27. Sie Bear-avatar

I've seen other reviews with the same problem as me. It logged me out, and there is no way to sign back in that isn't facebook, which i didn't use, and the only other option is to create an account. Even using the same phone number they dont say like please log in with your pre-exisiting account, it just has you create a new one. Whats worse is now I can't even delete my account if i wanted too. Very shady.

  28. John Welsh-avatar

Turns out, this app sucks. Unless you pay for this app it's pretty much garbage. The app selects "best matches" based on algorithms that are great at getting it wrong 100% of the time. The question prompts are lame, would much prefer to create my own profile. Meeting people is fine, the chat box sucks. Better than Tinder, but anything is better than a dumpster fire.

  29. Rob-avatar

The format is kind of annoying at first, because it's so different to other apps but that's also what makes it pretty good: it encourages you to be creative with your messages and by only letting you view one match at a time (unless you pay) you'll be more inclined to separate the wheat from the chaff instead of copy-pasting the same generic opener and playing the odds, increasing the chances of finding something serious/worthwhile.

  30. Christian Myers-avatar

    Christian Myers

    2020-05-05T11:49:37.351Z

They say they're different to other apps, but they're not really. They let you comment on a photo when liking it, but it's not compulsory, and even if it were it's no different to opening with a line about a photo on Tinder. On top of that, you only get about 4 likes before you pay. This just feels like a very lazy attempt to distinguish a product that isn't actually that different from the competition, while being worse at the core function - providing likes to allow you to match.

  31. Joshua S-avatar

The app seemed promising at first. Matched with some ladies. Only a very small few knew how to respond. All would disappear a day or two later to reappear as someone Hinge felt I should match with. While browsing, I'd select "not interested" in those I wasn't interested in to have them reappear the next time I opened the app. Seems like Hinge has a very small group of accounts. These accounts don't like to talk and will constantly get reshuffled. Meant to be deleted because it doesn't work.

  32. Alex Jacobsen-avatar

Good app that requires users fill out their profile. The feature of having captions on pictures (the app has many suggestions for these) make starting conversations much more natural and less pressured. Limited number of daily likes is expected. Not sure if the app has noon-light or other features like tinder for safety but this app does make virtual dating a little more enjoyable. The interface is good and the way conversations start remove seeing initial messages the rest of your chats.

The only issue I have with the app is the very small amounts of likes you can do a day. Otherwise it's a great app

  34. Sarah Mene-avatar

Firstly I don't like that it's so expensive I refuse to ever pay for premium membership because I really don't see what is worth paying for! Secondly I think the messaging part of the app is not great and puts u off using even when you like someone, it's just tedious. Needs to have better functionality.

  35. Lisa F.-avatar

It lets you match with people who like you immediately, and it's easier to start conversations because people have to like something specific about you (your pictures ore something on your bio) to swipe right. Making the profile takes 2 minutes and it's very intuitive to use. Better than Tinder or Bumble. Good work!

  36. Jonathon B-avatar

Cannot add Instagram - error 400. My insta account shows my personality far better than a few pictures. Please fix this?

  37. Matthew Smith-avatar

Definitely one of the "Higher Tier" dating apps. Mostly people wanting an actual relationship and not just looking for a fun night or someone with a limitless credit card. Interface is clean and premium features let you like as many people as you want and set more filters. I am childfree so being able to set that and not constantly see people with 4+ kids and want more is a big plus. My one suggestion though would be to add sent/read statuses to messages sent on mutual likes.

  38. Siobhan Reilly-avatar

It's like tinder but gives off a less dtf vibe. It's nice you can add captions and show your personality a bit. Also a good new feature where you can video call, but it only unlocks when you both suggest your ready which is thoughtful. There's a max "likes" per day, which can be irritating but you can pay to have that and other features unlocked, if you're that way inclined

  39. Adrian Daniels-avatar

I like the interaction that you get on here with the conversation starters. There seems to be more options of people than the last time I used the app. I guess it's catching on! I'm giving it a four because when creating a profile, I've wanted to go back and fix something but couldn't and had to start from the beginning again. I clicked around and the only option was to go back and restart. Also, kind of not down with the limited likes.

  40. Rhian Morgan-avatar

It's okay. But my main problem is that it ignores my gender preference option. If I choose to see women, it still shows me men. I've spoken with other people who have also experienced this. I know it's a very minor issue, and it sometimes makes me laugh thinking Hinge is trying to convince me to change my sexuality, haha. Not a bad app, but if I had to bring a 'con', that would be it. Good luck on ya search everyone

  41. Marc Powell-avatar

This app is a mixture of Bumble and Tinder, which I like. It takes the best parts of both of those apps, but it tries to market it to you too hard. The bad part is that it doesn't give you nearly enough likes without paying - you run out very quickly. Even Tinder or Bumble give you more opportunities to like someone. This could easily be a 5 star dating app if not for the lack this. The membership is far too expensive in comparison to its competitors.

Messages aren't being sent through. In my notifications for my phone when I get a message I see it pop up. But when opening the app it isn't there. And sometimes when I open the chat I'm literally seeing the message disappear before I have a chance to read it. It's almost as if they are deleting the message right there in the chat and you can see it being deleted like Instagram but I know us users can't do that. So it's an app malfunction that needs to be fixed because it's annoying..

  43. Elliott Heath-avatar

App lost my account 2x👎. There is no way of getting an account back - you always need to go through the whole setup again even if you use the same phone number as before. Latest time happened after my device ran out of battery. I got a notification from the app and when I opened it - it showed the person then immediately switched to the account setup screen. Avoid this app!!!

  44. Christian Erb-avatar

It didn't give that only want to hook up vibes like tinder but it i felt like I was back on Plenty of fish again..which isn't a good thing at all, having to pay to view additional things that are basic info on other apps,(why?) The questions were the stupidest thing cause nearly every profile had the same thing ( never shut up about "my dog" or something equally basic as hell) A app thats meant to be deleted is right, shouldn't have to pay to see basic info.

  45. Bella-avatar

Provides prompts that you have to answer which are good conversation starters. The only thing that really bothered me was that you have to pay $20 a month JUST to see the people who like you, which ruined the app for me. If you don't pay it, you only see the most recent profile who liked you and the rest are blurred. The app can also be buggy and unmatch you with people you already matched with and dislike a profile I didn't dislike. Waste of money.

A nicer design than Tinder, asking people to add more personality to their profile but still letting people look like blank canvases (their choice but perhaps don't allow them). Yet with only 6 likes a day compared to Tinder it's a bit crazy. In addition there needs to be a prompt for people to answer back, there's the whole process of 'like' then 'match' to chat and you just end up getting left on read by some people. Now won't let me exit 'age','distance'. Have to leave the app instead.

  47. Natalie Runser-avatar

I would leave 5 stars but I'm a little disappointed in Hinge that right when the Covid-19 government shutdowns began, you now have to pay for an upgrade to see people that have sent you a message or that have liked a picture or a comment. Overall it's a good app. I've met some great guys, they're a little less..gross then the guys found on another popular dating app. I also enjoy reading the answers people leave to the questions you can add to your profile.

Decent. Conversation is typically deeper, more involved, but the people are still pretty loose and discrete. The app's format allows for a more open book approach with your potential matches, and the ability to select aspects of a person's profile to "like" gives more credence to this being geared less toward hookups. This is 21st century dating at it's most shy, uncomfortable, overtly sexual, and socially dependent yet, while adding a dash of self respect, and self awareness. 7/10 Pls kill me🤷

Guys have been nice and down to earth for the most part. Being able to see the minimum number of pics with or without prompts has given me a sense of their personality. The three Q&As are great for finding material for ice breakers and the section with some background info helps me determine if they may be a match. You find out what kind of guys are into you by the window of ready interests, only in Hinge. No partner yet, but I'm still enjoying the chats and connections. Sweet app.

Its different from some of the other apps and has some things you don't have to pay for like filtering by race. But whats really annoying is when I have a persons profile pulled up, and I have to click on my "home" button on the phone and come back into the app, the app automatically selects "not interested" on someone. Even if I was in the middle of typing a message. So annoying. Fix this please.

  51. Saif K-avatar

YOU NEED TO FIX THIS!!! it happens every time I talk to someone on this app.. They either don't receive my texts or I don't receive theirs.. Which make the conversations awkward.. I thought I was being ignored... But the problem is this app! Not my internet! not my phone! I tried on another phone on different network same thing!

  52. Faisal Smith-avatar

The app is a great concept - all profiles being the same size and having the same amount to say things, but that's where the fun stops. The vast majority of prompts are more for teenagers, and so you end up with nauseating openers which everyone feels awkward about. Need to advertise more as not good selection of people to match with. The app itself is glitch as hell and freezes or won't load. Great idea but needs work both in attracting better quality users, and in ensuring the app runs smooth.

It's my first day on the app. The platform itself is easy to use with a clean design. I also like that I can mark things as dealbreakers. I am on the fence regarding the limited likes per day. I understand the need to create an incentive to pay but it'd be nice if your first couple hours were unlimited. I feel like I was just starting to understand the platform and now I'm out of likes. On the other hand, it forces folks to think about what they want in a match. Overall it's my favorite app.

  54. Anne Sloman-avatar

Pretty good free functionality, you have to pay to filter on politics, education etc. American language used for profile, so some people misinterpret 'hometown' and 'school' so a bit confusing. It also seems to match you up with people outside you specified distance and it's not clear why.

  55. Samuel Ashley-avatar

Fantastic experience so far. The only thing I'm concerned about is if the guys in that other app that begins with a "G" see this and all flock here. Please dont! Haha. Honest review, I love the way you interact with people and the format. The premium is a nice bonus if just a bit too pricey but most apps are similar these days if you want full functionality and convenience. I would recommend this app to people looking to date, I dont think it would suit casual meet ups very much, thankfully.

  56. Katie Suratt-avatar

In theory this app should work, but the issue is that matches randomly stop talking with you mid-conversation, even when you've been consistently asking each other questions to keep things going. I have yet to meet anyone on this thing. It's full of commitment-phobes and lazy people.

Best dating app hands down. I feel like you can see a bit more about a person than on other apps. You still get to see pictures and see if they are attractive, sure, but I feel like it allows charm/uniqueness to come out. Also there have been FAR fewer creeps on this app than on the other dating apps. Yikes.

  58. Ryan-avatar

"designed to be deleted" not wrong there atleast, the only app I've used where I don't get more than a handful of matches, and even then you might be lucky to get a reply. In my experience, this is the worst app I've used. But try for yourself, it's free after all.

Having a lot of problems with the messaging portion of hinge. If i send 2 messages in a row they only get one, and the same thing happens if they send me two in a row. I have also had problems when someone likes my picture so i send them the message but they don't recieve it. It just tells them i invited them to start the conversation. There is also no intuitive way to report tectnical problems and when i eventually found how to create a ticket that didnt seem to work either...

I've had a profile for about a month maybe 6 weeks and so far two matches. The first lasted 3 days and a total of 6 messages. Then nothing. The second never made it past the first message. I have yet to get a like. And I did get the one month just to see if its worth it (too early to tell) I also noticed the amount of attractive people vs unattractive completely change once i bought a month, not in a good way. Even before paying the ratio of still bad. And I'm not super picky either.

  61. Tamas Kun-avatar

I signed up, tried to connect my Instagram and it didn't work. Two days later they banned my account and I was charged $20. The app is glitchy and tech support won't even tell me why it was banned considering I spent half an hour filling out my info and didn't post one inappropriate photo or anything. Worst dating app I've used.

  62. Lewis Bartmess-avatar

Actively reading profiles is better than surface level swiping, yet it falls short. On the app you can select 3 prompts to answer about yourself. There's at least 20-40 different prompts, yet each profile manages to pick the same prompts with the same answers: "I wont shut up about (my dog)" Or "Ideal first date: (margs and queso)." Or "You should not go out with if you don't like (dogs)." When everyone has the same flat and basic personality, that doesnt convince me to use the app at all.

  63. NY B-avatar

This app is such a great idea! No more shallow swiping based only on pictures. I like that it requires a thoughtful first message. While I don't rack up as many matches as other dating apps, the matches I do get are higher quality and more responsive overall. I like the design of the app as well as the ability, as a paid member, to set preferences for my potential matches. Really satisfied so far! Thank you!

  64. Marissa Mason-avatar

This app is mediocre at best. It has a claim to be the dating app "meant to be deleted". People on here are looking for threesomes and hookups. I keep rejecting one person and replying to another and the app is not registering it. Also on the feed, it keeps cycling the same people over and over. Even after I've rejected them several times. Waste of time at this point. The one cute thing it has to offer is the prompts. With some updates, maybe this app will excel, but I'm deleting it.

As expected. I do like how it is more controlled than other apps and there needs to be a yes from both sides before you can chat. It's a good measure (and sense of!) security. No push through notifications when you get a message from a match though. One thing I do not like is when you say no to a match it keeps showing up! I do like the age filter, it actually filters out anyone who does not match your criteria and it's appropriated because no one likes a kid showing up unless it's asked for!!

  66. PO -T-avatar

Very nice concept but it seems there is some technical issue. Once in a while it tells you there is no more profiles to see in your area and that you should start over. You have to say no to the same profiles all over again (to all the profiles you said no too). I like the idea to have a second chance and start over. Clearly missing in Tinder. However, you will surprisingly see new profiles... So that means there was other profiles all along and you're just wasting time... Happened 4 times today

  67. Ian Lynch-avatar

With other dating apps, I find myself liking people and then when we match, I have no interest in starting a conversation. But with Hinge here, you don't just send a like, you send a comment. So it's easier to start a conversation and if I have nothing to say to a person, I just move on and don't worry about it. It just feels more genuine and less streamlined.

  68. Graham Kirby-avatar

Pretty great app over all, I really love the idea behind it. The only gripe I have is pretty minor, but sometimes the chat is buggy and messages don't appear until you restart the app a few times. But outside of that, it definitely holds up as advertised!

Hinge seems to have figure it out. Gets to the heart of what people want and does it in a fun, well laid-out interface and very intuitive. It looks visually appealing and I enjoy using it. I believe it has matched me more accurately with the woman that I am looking for (although I'm still looking for the one 😉, don't worry I'll find her) and also the highest quality gorgeous women with genuine hobbies, interests and careers. I mentioned the beautiful women right? Couldn't be happier

  70. Tyler Brownell-avatar

Good app, but for the last three days I've been saying no to the same people over and over again. It's like the app isn't saving my responses, because every time I open the app now, it's the same dozen people in the same order, and no matter how many times I say no, they always come back

  71. Dustin Lewis-avatar

App has been working pretty good since my last review. I do tend to get notifications way later for some reason though; I'll be on the app and see that I have new matches, then it'll tell me like 5-10 mins later that I matched with the person. Otherwise than that, I like it!

  72. Andrew Lopez-avatar

Nice concept/different set up and cool prompts but ultimately disappointing. I don't want just to get matches & likes. Like other apps you can't make a connection that lasts than longer than a few minutes before all the sudden they stop responding. I'm a firm believer in "other fishies in the sea", but not when there's a limit of like ten you can try for, who end up not even responding. You guys were right on one thing on your commercial. This app will be deleted, just not useful.

  73. Niamh McCrone-avatar

My main issue with this app, is that it could be absolutely fantastic and has so much potential because of the way that they format everything and present personality, alongside appearance. However.. when looking for the same gender (in my case female and female) men are the majority of my matches. I feel like there's way more fine tuning to be done, but the way the app works is genius!

  74. Chris Pain-avatar

There's so much you get for absolutely free! Detailed, full profiles selected by specific preferences, it encourages you to start a conversation and really fill out your profile, and there is instant messaging, liking and picture viewing all without paying a thing! It is also well built and runs smoothly, certainly doesn't feel like a half baked app, and the option to boost is reasonably priced, and not shoved in your face. The only thing is the distance selection is a bit broad. Good app 👍

Ok so I get that the slogan for this app is "made to be deleted" but probably not because we hate it.. I have my preferred age range set to 25-35 (I'm 26) and they keep specifically recommending ("we think you two should meet!") men who are WAY older. At first it was late 40s. These last two recommendations were 60 and 62. Hinge. I am not interested in dating men old enough to be my grandfather. My preferences on the app even give you guidance, but apparently you ignore them. Deleted.

  76. Andrew Brown-avatar

It's an interesting interface. The UI is clean and very smooth. The learning curve is a bit high, only because most dating apps are grids. With Hinge, you have to slow down to consider matches one at a time, which makes the process a lot more thoughtful

  77. Rich king-avatar

Seems to be a decent functioning app. The only downfall is you only get to like 5 people a day. If you want to spend money you can get more. Also if more than 1 person likes you, you can only see the 1 at a time and the rest are blurred out. Once again if you spend money you can see the rest.

  78. Bank Mich-avatar

I like the fact u have to put effort into your profile before it allows you to have a profile and adds your social media page/handle which semi wards off catfishes. I love the conversation starters and prompts, they are original and fun. I hate when I run out of likes for the day but still a great free service. Would recommend

  79. Sam Regalia-avatar

So hinge is a little diff than other dating apps where you like a specific thing on a person's profile versus swiping. Overall the app is good but finding people is hit and miss, just like with other dating apps. Although if you're looking for something more serious this is a better app to use than like tinder.

  80. Lanesia Jones-avatar

I like the app better than any other dating app. Have to match 1st before communicating. Also pics are higher quality, and people seem to be a better selection. It's really free but you only get a few opportunity to like others before it tells you to like or match more you must pay. Overall great quality.

  81. MsJazzyRay-avatar

Very good so far! People are required to put multiple pictures and conversation starters so you don't run into bots. Likes are very limited and they want you to upgrade for more, which is frustrating. But app is overall clean and really easy to use.

  82. Danielle-avatar

Ignores my gender preferences! Thought it was an issue with guys themselves setting their genders as women but nope, then one liked me with their gender on display. Surely it shouldn't show me to men! Very frustrating for lesbians and makes me uncomfortable. I like the questions that give me a feel for the person from their profile but I do wonder I'm not getting all messages through reading the other reviews.

Great app, especially if you're seeking to meet someone who is looking for a relationship. The matching process is simple, forward and a great experience. I was resigned about social dating apps until a friend suggested it. Had nothing but great experiences. Its the Amazon Prime of online dating.

  84. Jacob Bratcher-avatar

The app used to be very straightforward and user-friendly (2019). It still looks almost the same now (April 2020), but the app has become extremely laggy and slow almost to the point of being unusable. Pictures take minutes to load, same with the login and editing your profile.

  85. Sean Henry-avatar

A three month subscription used to cost $20. With the pandemic going on, they have raised the price to $40 for three months. However, they haven't raised the prices for everyone, because some of my friends app still show the old rates. I don't know why they have decided to DOUBLE the cost, but I refuse to pay the extortion rate they are trying to charge some people during this pandemic. What a shameless thing to do.

  86. Omen Boy-avatar

I don't understand why the same people I've passed on come back into the shuffle constantly. I'm seeing the same stack of people ten times, no matter how many times I've said no. Also, when you need to report inappropriate photos or profile content, the process is so frustrating, you want to give up doing a report. Four questions deep, you're forced to provide comments on the offensive content. Are you supposed to describe the inappropriate parts for the staff's entertainment? Nonsense.

Frustrating at times. Sometimes when I open the app, it automatically Xs a potential match. Also, even though I have plenty of characters remaining, my message will be too long for the screen and I won't be able to reach the Send button. Why doesn't that page automatically scroll???

  88. Henry Leu-avatar

I signed up for 6 months. There are too many fake profiles. Also, the people that Hinge recommended are totally not even compatible with me. And when I try to skip that recommended person, it won't get away. The recommended person's criteria does not even match one of my criteria. Your algorithm needs improvement or maybe Hinge is just trying to get rid of those low profile people to me.

  89. Rory Barr-avatar

All dating apps seem to have their own unique flavour. Hinge strikes a good balance between Tinder and Bumble. I like the mandatory basic information and the matching dynamics. 10 likes per day with a free account is limited, but the name of the game is quality over quantity.

The concept of this app is nice. Unfortunately its not always well executed. The "date from home" function is infuriating, constantly popping up in the way and there's no way to remove it, even if you've ticked "yes" on that person. The chat often defaults to the top, even if you have a big string of text messages, so each time you open you have to scroll down (after lowering the "date from home"). Worst of all. I'm a single parent with an awesome kid. I had it set, clearly, to show that I have kids. Its set to visible. When I view my own profile, it shows. BUT. Those that I'm matched with can't see this. I discovered this this afternoon when chatting with someone amazing that I was meant to go on a (safe distance) date with. I told her, (nicely) rejected. Heartbreaking!

  91. liz blalock-avatar

I've only been on a few days. It's a nice app, but it seems a little sparse for info sharing. You get 6 photos and 3 questions. Some folks use them wisely, others don't. I've noticed several 'bugs' with the app that need to be worked out. I'm not sure how the algorithum works either, but I'll only see a match if the person writes a message. Maybe that's the way hinge works. Not sure yet.

This app uses a clever system that avoids mindless right/left swiping. I find myself spending more time on each profile and giving each potential match more thought. Additionally, this app does offer premium features, but unlike other apps this app is not intrusive with ads and premium pop-ups.

  93. Brook Beverage-avatar

Haven't been onsite for long, but I like it. U can describe yourself with "small talk" Q & A, or drop a blunt "truth bomb". Both methods are still short & sweet. Not too many pics or rambling bios to cause sensory overload. Tied together with the classic "you both liked" each other matching, to assure both parties are attracted to the other.

And who doesn't like being in control?? Nobody!! You are in ABSOLUTE control when you use this app, and that's saying you have already made the decision to pay a bit to be more appeared and you can make better decisions and edit your profile COMPLETELY. I chose to pay in and it's a GREAT app!!!!!

I've tried almost all the dating apps under the sun. Hinge is by far my favorite. They've focused on perhaps what matters most: UI/UX. Their app interface is beautiful and makes for a very fun, thorough, might I say wholesome experience. As a result of this, I think, they have attracted a sizeable user base not only sufficient in number but also (I think because of the app interface and nature)of less toxic people. For icing on the top, they don't milk you for cash with their premium features.

  96. Matt Sassolino-avatar

Was a good app up until a week ago. Currently cycling through the same exact 20-30 person rotation, regardless if I dislike or like them. I have no idea if messages and likes are going through bc I'll see the same people I liked in the rotation. Until this gets fixed, don't bother with this app

  97. Alex C-avatar

The best dating app on the market - no competition. I've been using Tinder for at least 5-6 years, but after seeing Hinge's unique advertising a number of times "designed to delete!", I decided I'd give it a try. I don't even use other dating apps anymore. Not only that, but Hinge likes to dive deep so you can really get a feel for your potential mates. It requires decent input, so you can't opt out of a bio. And unlike other apps, Hinge attracts quality people. I could keep going, try it!

  98. Twinz , The-avatar

Your only choices for signing up are Facebook or your phone number and, on top of that, every time I attempted to use Facebook to sign up it didn't allow me to, essentially forcing me to use a phone number. Didn't even get into the app and I don't think it's worth it.

  99. Ere Santos-avatar

I've tried pretty much all of the dating apps and I have to say, Hinge is superior. The quality of people and conversations on the app are just higher and I've found that it's very clean and easy to use. I had a minor issue where I wasn't receiving or being able to send messages a couple weeks back, but reinstalling the app fixed the issue. Great app!

  100. Colt-avatar

Biggest annoyance, sometimes the app will auto-dislike if you stay on a single match too long. Maybe I'm trying to figure out what to say! Come on hinge... Having said that, of the dating apps out there, this is only one I can recommend. Most are pay to match this one is not. Can't share pictures, and the information that can be presented is very limited, however, I believe it is this scarcity of sharing that encourages chat interaction.
