    Needs to be more user friendly. It's hard seeking episodes of diferent seasons and understand which was the last episode seen, the subtitles are very hard to read lots of time, etc.

    First app i review in my life. I can't understand a video app that can't even follow to the next episode without jumping three or five. The ux is awfully complicated. It's a nightmare to watch series on this.

    Won't work on any of my (very recent) android TV boxes! Complains that "the device has been modified" and that there "may be erratic app behavior" or something like that. Sure, they're the cheap ones from China, but have very decent quad/octa core processors that are capable of handling 4K video and at least 4 Gb of RAM AND they play everything else. I don't get Netflix in HD BUT it works everywhere (4 boxes in the house). I'm sure more users will have the same issue. Edit: just unroot it!

    Does its job, sometimes. There are a lot of ux improvements to be done, small issued here and there make me despise having to use this app. Honestly you can't even keep the last played episode, or see the list without having to search for the series, doing it so from the main page says "content not found".

    It doesn't work properly on your phone. It starts loading and stopping in the middle of a film/series even if your internet is fine. I've had issues in my phone, but in my computer works fine even with the same internet

    Comparing to Netflix, service I was using before, this app is a bit behind... No option to fast forward a few seconds, no option to control the brightness within the app which helps a lot.. navigation is not very intuitive.

    The app lacks a skip forward button, sometimes sound gets out of sync and if you akip forward or backwords it keeps loading with only sound playing. Also the episode skip at the end of episodes does not work very well

    There are some bugs now and then while chromecasting, but it might be related to the chromecast. For the price this is a good deal.

    the app should make available the fast forwarding option (10 seconds) or skip the intro for most series. It's been a year and no action yet. Appalling!

    Audio for downloaded episodes is out of sync, making it impossible to watch. Reinstalling the app fixes the issue temporarily, but it inevitably happens again.. and each time you have to redownload the episodes.

    Terrible app. Always lots of lag, sometimes the video and the voice and subtitles gets unsynchronized. Still a very long way to get near Netflix.

    Horrible app compared to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Too much buffering, lacking jmportant functionalities, cannot get rid of the HBO logo and the video/sound quality is not particularly good. HBO keeps promising improvements or tells people to contact their help desk (whose favorite solution is to reinstall, which doesn't solve anything), but in reality after over 3 years of use the issues remain the same. Empty promises.

    Everything is good but there are a some basic functionalities missing like jumping forward 15 second(for some reason there's only 15 seconds back) and there is no way to keep track of the shows I've watched. Also the ability to double tap on touch devices to go forward or back 15 seconds like netflix.

    As others have pointed out, while the content is excellent, the user experience is not: browse the video seeing the screenshot (and being able to move in the timeline, not just fast forward/rewind), and OMG WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THE TRAILERS??

    It's good, but lacks some quality of life functions that for example, Netflix has. The skipping the intro button, the forward 10 seconds button (it only has a backwards 15 for some reason). Just these general small details, that don't seem too significant, but they all add up and make it way more comfortable to just watch Netflix instead. Oh yeah, but the content really is amazing, there's not as much stuff as Netflix, but most of Netflix is crappy teen stuff

    Audio and image are not synced. Not even in downloaded content. UI basic and crappy... Not even a single change in almost 2 years. Fix this!

    Great content... Love HBO. I hope the app can come to Fire TV stick soon, but maybe HBOmax when it gets the Europe.

    You can't go fast-forward. You can't jump intro. Search is not very sensible. Could be better.

    Could be better. I just started using the app and immediately thought it was great, compared to Netflix. But the video quality is poor and pixilated. There should be options to change quality and there should be options for UI, such as fast forward. And I will not be sending an email or contacting phone support. Several other users have the same issues and your support always replies the same way. And NOT listening to your customers. Will cancel before the free trial ends. Unless it's updated.

    Amazing content! But it still has a few problems especially with the video player. Downloaded some episodes but the audio and image were not synchronized. Another thing that bothered is that there's a difference between the downloaded episodes and the ones on continue watching list. They should be the same like on Netflix app so that you can continue watching exactly where you left it.

    The concept is OK, but there's a lot to change. First there's no trailers of the shows and movies. You can only have one user and that's bad, especially when the family have different tastes. Only for Ps4 and not for Ps3, also bad and finally hate the black shade under the subtitles when you watch on the computer. Don't get it since on Ps4 they don't have that shade. Change this and I'll give a 5 star rating.

    Performance-wise, I find the downloads ridiculously slow. Content-wise, I was surprised a few days ago that some of the titles on My List had been wiped off; since I am extremely demanding about including any piece on the list, and since I had there only 4 or 5 titles, I am at a loss to explain what happened, since My List is my list, not anybody else's. That's all; for now.

    The app itself performs great and it is easy enought to navigate. There are a few things missing (skip intro button and the possibility to filter "My List" by tv/movies) althought none are a deal breaker. The only problem (and it is a minor one) has to do with synchronization. I watch it on my phone, on my computer and on my tv casting from my phone. But most of the times I go back to an show and it is not on the same time on which I stoped watching. This happens a lot, mostly with TV shows. If that is fixed it would be a 5 star review.

    Edit: One year later, things are still the same regarding the buffering problems on a good connection, and it got even worse when it comes to audio being out of sync during the bits it works. Lowering the rating to 1 star. Original: Interface is clean and easy to use but it's really hard (impossible) to see episodes without buffering problems (with an excellent network connection). Most of the times I end up using the web version (Chrome mobile), which plays every episode flawlessly.

    Still has a lot to improve. To add to the unappealing menus, the android TV app presents "HD" image riddled with pixels and artifacts. Netflix and Amazon established staples like 5.1 sound, 4K and HDR / Dolbyvision are nowhere to be seen. If you want to compete in this saturated market, you gotta step up the game, specially in two months' time when GoT fans will stampede out of here. Oh wait...

    I love HBO shows and I was looking forward for this app. For some reason everytime I start to watch a show on my phone it crashes and forces me to turn it off. I reinstalled the app THREE TIMES and keeps doing the same. And yes, my phone isn't the best and other apps have the same issue sometimes, however! With this app it happens all the time. Overall, I gave it three stars because I truly enjoy the content but the app need to improve ^^

    I have installed the app in my phone (OP3T) and in my tv box (a mid end box with Android 6.0.1). In the phone all goes good, but in the tv box, the app does not even start, just display "the app cant start because the device is modified". I understand that some publishers need to protect the content, but in my case i dont have any root or a modified version of the android. After i contacted the support number, the operator told that the only box that are currently supported are the Xiaomi Mi BOX and the Nvidia Shield. But that info is obviously incorrect, because my box does not run Android TV but the "normal" version of the android. In the specifications of this app it clearly state that is compatible with android 4.4 and over, so i am not pleased at all to be forced to see the content on my mobile phone, or on my pc but not in my tv. Unacceptable! EDIT: After reply - If you bother to read the review you understand that i already talked with the support! I am not going to try that again if your support team does not even understand the diference between Android Box (hardware) and Android TV (OS for specific android boxs)!

    The app is good enough, I changed recently from another streaming platform and knowing the two sides I think there's some minor "issues". The way you move through an episode is not practical, I miss a skip intro button, in most of episodes the window with countdown to the next one pop's up way to early so you need to take it down and it won't appear when the episode has really finished. Besides that the content is great!

    Downloads are still so slow, it takes forever. Now the problems, that the app should offer, Picture in Picture function is not available on the app, sure I want to watch whatever I want, but if I have to do anything else I don't want to stop the show, I want to do both at the same time... Does,t have the function to go forward 5/10 seconds, or skip the credits. Keep the good works.

    This app frustrates me. I give it three stars because the service is good, meaning that the content is worth the price. The app itself however has a very low-quality UI. Every time I load an episode, it gives me a connection error, but the second time it works fine. When watching an episode, if i pause it and turn my phone off, when turning it back on it goes back to the menu and loses my progress as well. I could enumerate more bugs like this but the worst, is the subtitles' constant errors....

    The app is great! The streaming quality is really good and it's adequate to the internet's speed. Although, there are 2 important features missing: - there should be a button to change the resolution settings; - an option to select either the local storage or the external storage, MicroSD for example (so far, if you download episodes it'll be storaged in the local storage device).

    poor sync across devices. has a limit of 5 devices which is ok but the same laptop over different IP's seem to be considered multiple devices. ends up with issues when it comes to restart the session from time to time. could we have a "skip intro" option? also, loading times are slow and tends to stop more often over mobile network when compared to competitors apps ***Thanks guys for the feedback, it's better now. 5 stars waiting on the skip intro button***

    Excellent content. Just one thing, please allow the autoplay to be turned off. It's rather infuriating falling asleep and waking up in the middle of the night 3 or 4 episodes ahead, and sometimes with major spoilers. 2nd update App also shuts down on its own, if it loses wifi it keeps skippjng to the next and the next episode and so on until it the wifi finally comes This app is costing you clients, there are already online threads complaining of this. You really should do something about it.

    REINSTALLING THE APP DOES NOT RESOLVE THESE ISSUES AT ALL:the sound is only in stereo (with Netflix I have no issues playing in surround). The app keeps buffering (I have fiber and no issues playing content with other apps) . Image quality is worse than Netflix, so no excuse on that end either. Finally, the app lacks a lot of options compared to Netflix, and no way to remove the HBO logo which is really annoying. Not happy at all.

    the app, although it's pretty and well organized, functions really badly. It's always stopping, makes it look like you're paying for a bad streaming service. It's so bad I can't watch anything without it stopping at least once to refresh. Won't renew the subscription.

    On a Huawei P Smart 2019, Android 9 Speedtest (WiFi) - 45-50 Mbps Speedtest (Mobile) - 9-10 Mbps APP systematically buffers while on Wifi, every few minutes it stops for 5 to 15 seconds. Whenever this happens, I switch to Netflix (same device, same WiFi access) and have absolutely no problem streaming. If I watch HBO on a laptop (same WiFi), no problem. If I switch phone to mobile data it works without buffering, which is even more baffling. Very annoying, very disappointing.

    Streaming quality sucks. You'll spend 45mins watching a 30min show, the other 15min spent watching buffering. Doesn't happen on my Netflix so not an internet issue. Doesn't save subtitle settings so you ha e constantly switch them off. I've yet to be able to actually watch a downloaded show. Simply says there's an internal error every time

    just installed the app after creating an account. first time watching a TV show and audio is out of sync, English subtitles appear doubled, video stutters(not really stuters, more like velocity isn't constant) and its not because of the Internet connection or the phone. Bluetooth play/pause don't work. Vodafone gave me 3 months, I wouldn't like to be paying for this.

    The video quality is significantly lower than HBO Now on the US, this is even more noticeable when watching on the TV/Console App. The rest is good though, seems to have most of HBO's library and the price is very affordable, just needs to have the content with higher resolution.

    the app works, but why is always running 2 services in the background? my phone is slower after i install this app and my netflix app doesn't run services or slow down my phone, if you don't fix quickly I'm unsubscribing your service. also there's some random notification flickering on my notification bar from your app, it disappears as fast as it appears.

    I give it three stars for the sake of the good shows that are on the platform. But the app is barely usable. Audio is not in sync with video. Tried multiple networks and even mobile data nothing seems to fix it. It not my phone because it works on other streaming apps like Netflix. So far not good.

    I find that there is great content with HBO, but there are important things missing in the app settings when comparing with similar services. specially in what comes to streaming quality and download quality. Also I have a kid and it would be great to be able to set a kid profile for her.

    In terms of the library, the app is awesome. Lots of content to watch and regular updates that add content They also remove old content sometimes, so Christopher Nolan's movies aren't available anymore unfortunately. Meanwhile I got used to the limited features, yet something I really can't stand is the fact that it keeps causing errors on my SD card and refusing downloads. Every couple weeks I need to delete the app and re-download everything because simply the app is too buggy. Devs help!

    Very buggy. Even on a 150Mb connection has buffering problems that Netflix doesn't. It downloads episodes in strange orders... I.e. i try and download episodes 1-5. It downloads episodes 1,3,4,5!!!!! Why? It also download v slowly.... On the positive good content, not so good delivery.

    Good looking and solid. My only problem with this now is the scarcity of movies from the eighties. Almost all are from the nineties and later. I'm not that young anymore, so I miss all those great movies from when I was. And with all that retro thing going on, I think there should be quite a demand for that stuff :-)

    When i choose subtittles in game of thrones and use Chromecast the app does not show the subtittles. And after this all the movies that are working before dont display subtittles anymore. Only a cache clean will fix. Opening Game of thrones again the problem will happen again... The support email does not work...

    Sound is out of sync; can't open outside the country when traveling; searching always makes the app non-responsive; no double tap or button to go a bit forward or backward; other errors - very bad and the same about the Vodafone tv app as well (no login, really?)

    Doesn't work in several devices. And in the ones it works, its slow and fails to stream frequently. Also noticed sound sync several times. So, in my opinion, not worth HBO subscription with such awful app user experience.

    Add option to disable autoplay. Change that and you will turn an unusable service to one of the best. You waste time implementing a feature that can not be disabled and that turns this service and app generally unusable at night time. This is my only issue (makes it mostly unusable) and sugestion for this service/app.

    It's cool, but when I'm getting worse Internet the sound will just play on, while the image breaks, and when it wants to catch up, the image will just speed up. It's ridiculous and annoying

    Terrible experience, even connected to wifi the video stops every 10 mins. The fact that the app doesnt give you the option to lower the quality of the video is also the worst decision hbo could have made. Do not recomend it. Watch it on pc!

    Doesnt' have many movies/series,most of them are just from the nineties to now,and everytime I try to see a movie,the movie just keeps stoping from 5 to 5 seconds,and internet connection is not a problem

    Tried to watch one episode, stucks all the time on the first seconds, Tried 5 tomes, same problem. And on the 4 time the app Just went back to home screen by it self. And no, 100 % sure that ir isn't a speed connection problem

    Sometimes when you press resume play it starts from the beginning. Why is there a "go back 15 seconds" button and not a "skip 15 seconds" one? A skip intro feature would be useful as well. Good content though.

    there are episodes that don't exists, it is loosing the connection between episodes, and the offer is relatively poor, consider, for example, a descovery of witches wich you offer only the first season while I have the complete dvd for months.

    The app doesn't work on android box tv. It keeps getting the same error 5.1. I have 3 months but not going to use them. I have Xbox One but only the US users can use it. HBO Portugal are a bunch of amateurs.

    The app is only showing 1/4 of the video in Android TV devices. The interface is displayed correctly but when the video starts, only the first quarter of the video is shown in screen. Unusable this way.

    I've installed this multiple times... The first install I can start viewing my series without any problem. If I close the app, the next time that I try to access it gives me a timeout... The workaround is to uninstall and install again.

    Works great. I'd give it 5 star if it had forward and backward buttons in the offline UI. Or, an option to skip the intros. Additionally, the offline mode should mark episodes as played.

    App opens showing 2 options, login directly or via Vodafone and that's it. That's all it does, nothing more. Neither option does anything. Pure and utter garbage of an app!!! Can't watch using browser either because after logging in, site redirects you open in app... Useless

    All downloaded content is badly out of sync on android 9! Cleaning cache or similar do not solve it. In streaming is ok. From interface is unclear what type of HD is available.

    The app still has some bugs to be worked out (specially when casting to chrome). Cant select subtitles. The resolution is always switching between very low and ok.

    Edited review. HBO replied within 1h offering a solution. Allthough its lame you cant use your old acc to link with vodafone, I cant give a bad rating when an issue is tackled so quickly.
