    Awful experience. It is unstable and full of all sorts of annoying bugs; it can't remeber your credentials, also it has a crazy auto-refresh option that makes entering your email and password a fight with this stupid app. Not to mention that your tv is deactivated periodically for no reason, so you have to come back again and again and deal with this stupid app. This app was clearly made by amateurs in their spare time.

    pl Low quality for an app claiming to be the official HBO app. This regarding the fact that there's no skip intro button, no forward button, the downloads don't work without internet (what are they for then??) and they usually freeze my phone while downloading (with 4gb ram). Please do something about this, so we can have a pleasurable experience... If not with your ideas, you can always steal from Neflix, which works flawlessly.

    app Well OK, there are major improvements to be made. For starters please ad an option to forword by let's say 10s then ad an option to skip intros and then sort out the sync of audio and video. My audio lags behind the vid. To ad insolt to injury the app lacks esencial settings like where the vids download to. I would like to save them to the SD but I am not able to. Apart from that and some bugs (that can be blamed on my device) I have had a good time on the app.

    germany I really like the app as it offers the variety of genres. HOWEVER, 1) could you please restore the category 'The Last Chance?' How Wake can we know that certains film are going to be taken away? I do not understand why you have removed this amazing app feature. 2) Could you improve the search bar so that we could find films from a chosen country?

    tti Terrible! Both mobile and TV! Feels out-dated, slow, clunky, lacking in options! Like grandpa's car: old and busted! It's not that hard guys: make the TV app more remote-friendly (the back & forth playback navigation and typing are a nighmare!); Put a back & forth playback option by tap for the mobile app (like youtube/netflix/hulu/etc); when selecting a show you never watched, make it start from season 1, not the latest season (why would I want to spoil myself with season 10 of a new show?)

    apk The application is lagging all the time. Can't watch the videos, they are either interupting all the time not being able to load the content, or not starting at all. There's no difference if I am next to the Wi-Fi router or using the mobile date. I have all the updates and stuff properly installed. No restarts nor réinstallations are making any difference. I am really disappointed for a paid service!

    romania The app is okay at best. The problem is it's really slow at loading videos or scrubbing the timeline. I have checked everything like my internet connection reinstalled the app a couple of times and tried on different devices (all packing enough performance) and the problem persists. Some times it runs better than others and sometimes is straight up unusable. I don't seem to experience problems while using the service through a browser but the app is quite dissapointing.

    t I installed it on an Android TV box, a Minix U1? It runs only when the WiFi is conected. It does not detect the LAN connection and asks to restart de app on and on. During the setup I cannot pass the step where you select the cable provider. I cannot scrool down the list or select any operator. It is usseless.

    hr The app is simply horrible. I run it on PC, a tab a and a tab s6. Same issues all across. Playback fails if you skip ahead sometimes. Playback fails if you jump back sometimes. Playback fails if you use the 15 sec back button more than 2 or 3 times. All instances require an app restart. Sometimes buffering takes a while even though the connection is fine. Bad, bad app.

    login in comparison with the TV app the sound works! But the app keeps logging out and deleting downloads while on 3G, not all content is available for download... Netflix app is much better when it comes to downloads + there is an option to see the trailer there which is not an option on HBO. All in all not so bad but a lot of room for improvement.

    The app freezes from time to time for a few seconds, my Wifi connection is very fast, the bug is from the app, and also I don't think is from my phone, before i was watching from Huawei P9 lite, not i'm watching from Huawei P30 and the bug is still there, and also the image gets blurry sometimes, and then is clear again. Also a skip button forward would be great, not only skyp back. And maybe some background with opacity on subtitles (i didn t look that much through the settings)

    I'm only rating it so that it'll stop asking me to. I had trouble logging in, deleting all data wasn't enough, I had to reinstall it. The Watch Later list just disappeared multiple times. When you tap on a show, it automatically shows you it's latest season, which is incredibly dumb as I tend to start watching at the beginning. And it asks for a review like a free, ad-ridden game.

    Not an ideal app for the good content it has. It has many little bugs:no skip the intro button, no forward button, no dowload button. The sound is often late from the image(which isnt very good quality either even tho I have a pretty above average phone). Please fix these mistakes

    the app doesn't have half of the options Netflix has. Also, trying to find a way to unsubscribe for half an hour already with no success. Info in faq does not correspond to what I see in the app and there is no chat option. When I want to watch my downloads offline, it says "no connection" and doesn't let me enter the app at all. What's the point of download option then?

    Thanks for fixing the below, it's great that you listen to the voice of the customer! Here is another for you: when I access the app from my home/ work wifi in UK, I get a "geographical area error". If I use my UK mobile data, it works. Previous review: The app is great but has some issues yet to be solved, for example, for series, it doesn't remember where you left off the episode that you where just watching. It would be great to download episodes/ be able to use it offline.

    Too many time application freezing at loading screen, working unstable and rapidly changing the image quality (from the lowest to the highest), even the connection is 100% stable (LTE). Seems to be this this general problem how the service works. From browser I'm experiencing pretty the same problem. I'm really thinking about canceling my subscription...

    The app is clear and simply, that is ok. But When I am connecting to WiFi it is just loading continuously. The WiFi connection is perfect, other video, streaming app is working well. I have just deleted HBO GO app and reinstalled it but the issue remains. I rebooted the WiFi but the issue (only with HBO GO app) remains the same. I can use only with mobile data but it is not acceptable for me! I've changed my Mobile Phone and the WiFi router to a brand new and a better one but the issue is same.

    I am not able to use the latest version of HBO GO on Odroid C2, Pine A64 due to the message "No Internet connection", which is wrong. I wrote to HBO GO support and they replied to me that the error occurs on unsupported devices. Incredible. According to their website, my devices are supported. So, I temporarily downgraded to version 5.6.2, which works for me.

    My review will be specifically for the app and not the content which is good. This app is behind Netflix in all aspects. You have only one profile, you get signed out after a week of inactivity or so and the worst part if you get signed out of the app on tv and you delete the device and try to add it back you'll get a cooldown and the optimization for tv is just bad.

    Horrible. The display of movies is horrible like(when you do not know what you whant to see and search for something). You have only one option to back 15 sec. No foward. Usualy after you back a few times the app ghets stuck. Sorry but you are light years behind competion...

    The app often doesn't work! It keeps loading something... Same for your app on Samsung TV. There's so many obvious problems with your apps, that I don't even want to list them here. It's much, much worse than Netflix apps.

    It doesn't run on my phone Samsung galaxy S. I reinstalled it twice and still no luck. I run the app, but as soon as I try to watch something it starts pausing or loading every minute for at least 10 to 40 seconds. It's very annoying. I don't have such problems with any other streaming app. I've seen it running perfectly on other phones, but 1 star from me as I cannot use it.

    Commenting only on the app UX: - buggy and unintuitive, feels outdated, little options (no skip intro). It is the buggiest app on my phone and if it wasn't the only means of consuming the HBO content, I would delete it. Few days ago it bugged out so much with the error upon launch that even the restart didn't help, had to delete and reinstall. HBO needs to invest in a new app asap.

    Bad as an app and bad as a service overall. Lot of buffering on high-speed network (no problems with 4K content on Netflix or Amazon). App freezes frequently. I really don't know why I keep paying for the subscription, even the content is lacking.

    It used to work just fine for me, until my last os update (I am the possessor of an oneplus 6t). Now the video is not perfectly synchronised with the audio, even if I download the film, and that makes it unusable. Another thing that I dislike is the lack of a fast forward option.

    The app left a sort of unrefined feeling to it, the in video menu was a bit lacking, for example no forward button to skip a few seconds. The app from Netflix was better, should start improving even if u copy from them. First day with the app and already got a DRM error, telling me to restart the app. I did, error didn't fix, now I can't watch anything because this error keeps popping up. Guess I'll have to reinstall.

    Basically it's OK, but when I'm abroad, it randomly annoys me with the "you aren't allowed to start me due to your location" messages. Besides, switching the language of the movie or subtitle is a bit crappy (needs to be saved 3 times, etc.). Otherwise, I enjoy it.

    Why is it discconecting every so often? Why can't we use the app/service when abroad? Why do we need to register the same device every so often without logging it out? Plus, some times the app itself does not allow logging in...please check apps from amazon, netflix...

    The most dreadful app. Experience with it is annoying as hell, waste of money. Keeps loading all the time on super fast Internet. 1hour movie becomes in two hours experience of anger and issues. Nobody seem to care to fix this issues. Everyone complains from this and no action is taken.

    The watching history is not preserved which is really annoying if you start watching a series and you comeback to it after few weeks. When you cast the video the sound is stereo and not Dolby 5.1. Ergonomy issues but you can live with that. You need to take some cues from Netflix, Hulu and even newcomers like Disneyplus.

    I'm not very happy with this app. There is no option to change the color of subtitles and even when font size is set on Large the letters are still too small when viewing something on a large TV screen accross the room.

    1 star because it keeps deleting items from my Watchlist. When it stops doing stupid things I will reconsider my rating. One more stupid thing, in my opinion, is the fact that it stops at IMDB rating 7 when browsing that list. I cannot be expected to refresh lists 7 days a week to see what's new and I would like to choose my own movies, not like HBO Europe isn't pushing trash as it is. Other than that, it's working ok.

    Have HBOgo and Netflix and to be honest I much prefer HBO. It has all the Potter films and many more newer releases than Netflix. I've kept Netflix for their exclusives and documentary programmes also their programmes seem to stream much better. HBO seems to buffer quite often. I had prime too but Prime is a waste of time in my opinion.

    I wish that the app had trailers build in it and to have more options in settings, to set the resolution (it's on auto everytime) and bunch of others ( I dont remember others, but I'm gonna edit when i remember :) ). And sometimes when I pause and I play it again the screen turns dark and sometimes with green marks ( but I dont know for sure if it's from the app, my phone or my internet connection ) But in rest, the app is very good.

    Please make the app available worldwide because my phone is from USA with USA play store and it is not available in the search. App is mot bad but there is two nasty bugs. on several times movies from wish list disappear, this is not movies removed from the app, they just disappear and i need to add them again. second bug is that se times TV series lost progress to where i have watch them. 3rd advice is look at Netflix app, favorite movies. they suggestion engine is kick ass.

    This app is working sometimes and sometimes not and this is why it's annoying. Everybody loves HBO GO on TV but this application needs more development. whenever I got the error message: qw_error_authn_loginsession_invalid deleting the application data is still not enough I need to reinstall the whole app...

    It has great potential, but on console it's not avaliable for all regions and when I sometimes connect it with a hdmi or even on my smart TV it keeps buffering. Thought it was the internet connection at first, but switched the provider a while ago, and besides it working perfectly on my phone, everything else runs smoothly. So great potential, needs a some work.

    Great variety of movies and shows by HBO but the app itself drives me nuts. It takes forever to load, it crashes as soon as I try to watch something or (in the cases it doesn't) it simply refuses to connect to WiFi and only works without buffering if I turn my WiFi off and on again. Weirdly enough it works great on 4G phone data. Please fix this.

    Nice interface, but personally cannot watch on WiFi (45 mbit, tested on Mate 10 pro). Video goes on for 10 seconds and then starts buffering. Switching to mobile internet plays it immediately. Concurrent platform does not have any problems on both connections :/ would be happy to try a fix.

    Downloaded shows are useless in roaming as you cannot use the app in another country. The app got "stuck" in setup mode in foreign language and remained stuck even if I tried using VPN or came back to my country. Had to delete storage and uninstall to get a fresh start. And redownload the episodes while in the bus. So much hustle just to enjoy few episodes while traveling by bus.

    Lots of crashes when loading a movie. Also sometimes it takes a lot when streaming on TV. It is not that fluid comparing to other apps of the competitors. HBO must improve the app and user experience becase they are way beeehind.

    Now it happens more rare that I need to clear cache on my older tv, but on my smart tv I no longer have full screen so I have to cast from my phone in order to see the movie. Previous review: everytime i want to access it i need to clear data and cache and reintroduce credentials, otherwise i am unable to login receiving some message that request cannot be processed

    Why is it not possible to use it with and android tv box which is connected to the ethernet and not wifi. The application demands wifi even if I have internet connection. This is really behind tech nowdays, please fix it!

    Lacks important features on mobile and/or smart TV: skip intro button, skip forward button; the "continue watching" feature is also implemented very poorly, it's the 4-5th row usually. They're behind Netflix with respect to UX.

    I open my WiFi and it says that HBO it's not in that geographic area I turn off my VPN still doesn't work I force stop the app from my Samsung still doesn't work I uninstalled the app and reinstalled again IT'S WORKING , fix this bug so the app can recognize faster that I am in Romania And not in another country !!!

    On my Samsung tablet practically unusable, keeps displaying "DRM error" and asking for restart, which of course does not help, works maybe one day of twenty. On the same device, Netflix or Spotify run just fine.

    Jan 2020 still love HBO but it's a shame you can't share a link to what you're watching16 Nov 2019 you can now cast from the app and it's brilliant, well done HBO! It now operates in line with the main apps and competes well with Amazon prime or Netflix. 5 Jan 2019, Can't cast from app or use a mouse on the screen app, slow to search as a result. no offline download like Netflix. Many smart TV's don't support the app but in some instances you can cast your whole mobile screen to smart tv screen.

    The search engine is terrible compared to Netflix's. There I can just write a word that has something to do with the searched film or series, and different options pop out. Here I have to write exactly the name of the thing I'm searching for.

    No matter on what i try it it stops to buffer every 20 seconds. It's really annoying when you have to watch a 25.min episode in 40 min. Takes out all the relaxation and fun.

    A very basic app. Lightyears behind the netflix app. It lacks functionality, loses connection, sometimes logs out of the account, freezes when i scroll through a video and when this happens the audio keeps playing even if i close the app. Needs a total redesign.

    Unfortunately slow to load, no quick back and forward options, loses track of where it was before when reloading, would be good to have a choice of users so only 'relevant' films are shown consider that user, takes time to load hogh quality. Room for improvement

    It's awesome, great visual quality (full HD) without any jitter even I have just the cheapest Asus Zenfone with only 2 GB of RAM. Also it has a great movie database that it's periodically updated and all of that for only 3 euros a month at least 3 times cheaper than Netflix is, really affordable for everyone.

    App is awful, out of all video subscription services I tried this is the only one that has issue buffering videos, any video gets stuck 5 minutes in and the only way to resolve it is to restart the video. Not recommending at all for Android users.

    Im using it on a samsung ue65nu7092 tv, and suddenly no sound, i mean everything that i play takes like forever and when it starts has no sound. I did reinstall the app, same thing. Whats wrong?

    The app: You can't forward a definite time (eg. 10 or 20 seconds like on Netflix). Your favorite movies disappear from that list and I can't understand why. The channel: Very few choices of movies and not a very good quality.

    Would have been 5 stars, but no option for changing resolution is a big minus, on limited internet you're stuck with ~1GB per hour of watching... And audio is out of sync when listening over BT earphones, it's the same with all I tried. In other apps (like Netflix and YouTube) sync is perfect

    Horrible app. Every two minutes stop playing and I'm waiting few seconds. Ten or more. Same when I click on "15sec back" button. And the HBO app in my smart TV? Every 20- 40 minutes stop working and forcing my TV shutdown immediately.

    5 stars for the ease of use, stability. The only minus is you cannot eliminate movies from the "continue watching" list: you need to slide the play till the end of the movie, or just leave them there...

    This is absolutely horrible. It messes up the episode order, disconnects from the TV all the time, and now the chromecast button doesn't work at all. I can't even hope for a proper android TV app.

    The application is not working properly when I'm using WiFi, even if I have a strong signal. I use Netflix and there is no connection problem.

    Tottaly hate this app. The video Is lagging no matter what. Pixel 3a And 5G WIFI connection doesn't do ANYTHING. The sound has a delay. Have no idea what to do. It Is unwatchable.

    After 2 consecutive connections on TV, the third time it doesn't work anymore, it does not connect with TV and it doesn't play any video at all, tried with different smartphones.

    Very slow app and with a bad user experience. It's a high time to solve loading issues and eventually augrade with some cool new features like option to continue watching from last viewed episode... current version is a shame for company like hbo!

    The app randomly disconnects from the Chromecast or change the episode in the middle of the movie. I would not recommend it. Nothing like that happens with Netflix so it's not my network issue.

    The subtitles need to be more visible, more like the Samsung's tizen version. And the errors need to be more verbose for the average user, trying to offer some solutions before the user hits the support team

    Very buggy, freezing after i hit sign in button. Also it happens almost every time: when I have luck and successfully log in , after the loading page it throws me to the home page but signed out like the signing in never happened

    Harder to handle than Netflix. The interface is not as friendly as the competition's. And downloading episodes takes way much more storage than on Netflix. But the shows and movies are nicely picked.

    The app randomly displays a notification about starting downloading when actually I've never downloaded anything??? And then it starts heat up my phone pretty badly. Annoying and inexplicable...

    Quite limited searching. Very often connection problems while playing on Google Chromecast. Other apps like Netflix or Prime video doesn't experience this issue. Also you can't skip intros or recap as it is usual.

    my 2 mastercards doesn't work with this app..i just can't make an account unless i don't connect with my provider..having a prepaid sim,willing to pay to connect but can't,netflix app is still above and easier to access,even is little bit expensive..

    Works well, dispalys also the IMDB rating which is useful info. Titles are automatically deleted from my list after 60 days, which is very annoying! Fast forward / rewind not as good as Netflix.

    Your app is just like any other streaming apps, except for the fact that it lacks a download button, and a proper skip recap/intro button, and at times the streaming of content is laggy even on strong internet connections

    Can't prolong subscription from the app. App can't handle variable bitrate, so videos don't play at constant speed. Rubbish for such a huge player...

    Poor functionality (e.g., lack of fast forward) and annoying constant buffering (even when the connection is fine and other streaming apps run smoothly.)

    The app is great, but it does not contain as many movies and series as expected. Maybe the library should be extended more :) other than that, great app!!!

    Keeps buffering and needs to be restarted to work for 2 more minutes. An application for such a big service shouldn't have theese problems.

    Picture and sound are often unsynchronised. Long loading times even though I have steady connection and all the other similar apps are working fluently.

    Nice app. Works perfect for now. One minor question? Is there a way to erase shows from Continue to watch list? Shows that we didn't like and don't want to continue.

    Unless I downloaded the movie, keeps freezing when I move back 15s two times. Why no 15s forward anyway? Why I can't choose quality? Forces HD but lags. 144p would be good for me but please play it smoothly.

    Removed a star because the app crashes constantly after 5 or so rewinds while watching swamp thing. Probably not related to the show. Running android 10 on Samsung s10.

    I think the app has issues on the search functionality.I tried to find Big Hero 6 wich at some point i was watching ...but now i can't find it.The video quality is ok!

    Some times i get error in a middle of playing, but its ok in general, download option is great to have and authentication issue is fixed

    Allways asks for my password, and often doesn't recognise it, so I have to reset my password, and even then it doesn't recognise my email! So very often I have to call my provider to aolve the problem....

    I really like this app it's convenient and easy to use. It would be really awesome if I could easily connect to a smart tv as well if it's turned on. But still with added download option it's cool

    Sometimes the applicatin is slow. It does not save the added movies in favorites. Sometimes continue watching function is not working.

    Was good the first month, now it is disaster. Doesn't want to stream. Doesn't even start the show/movie just keeps trying to load.

    Low quality video and audio is out of sync when using Bluetooth headphones. No problem while using other services like Netflix.

    The app is great but you can't use it abroad even with vpn. Besides that, not every series has a download option.

    Problem with buffering because of CPU usage when I play stream. I didn't have similar problem with Netflix on same device.

    Not very user friendly, difficult to organize movies, search for what is intersting or simply continue watching (many times simply forgets and starts from the beginning)
