If you are also a speech therapist who deals with myofunctional treatment, you will know how patient compliance is important in this type of therapy. For this we offer you a tool that will make your job more appealing in the eyes of your patients: Gulp !, the only Italian speech therapy app created to support the therapy orofacial muscle imbalance and deviant swallowing.

After the success of the first version of the app, we have worked hard to make this second better version is graphically view and from the functional point of view.

The new Gulp! It is structured into four sections:
Speech therapist, the app part dedicated to the professional. The app is not intended to replace the direct treatment, in fact it is only after careful evaluation by an experienced speech therapist that you can draw up a specific treatment plan for the individual patient. "Gulp!" Helps the clinician to personalize the treatment program, giving it the opportunity to choose from more than 200 exercises, the ones best suited to the patient, and select the number of repetitions for each exercise.
To facilitate the search / selection of exercises, we have divided them into five main categories: breathing, muscle gymnastics, swallowing, articulation and generalization. The categories can be further divided into subcategories and exercises grouped according to their purpose (eg muscle gymnastics à lips a tone both lips).
MY PROGRAM, the app confidential part of the patient. The patient will always have a list of selected exercises from his speech therapist, with the number of repetitions, the written description and explanatory video.
The patient will also be able to use the alarm clock, which allows you to set the text and the reminder time that, through a notification will remind you to perform the exercises.
LANGUAGE, the part of the app designed for the self-awareness of the lingual posture. With this feature, the patient can, with a simple click, indicate whether the lingual position is correct or incorrect. The application has been the subject of two dissertation for the degree course in Speech Therapy (University of Milan). The first thesis, entitled "Gulp! The first specific mobile application for myofunctional treatment of atypical swallowing: Myofunctional the effectiveness of treatment with the technological support, "showed that the app has increased the effectiveness of myofunctional therapy. This thesis also was rewarded by AMPLIFON as one of the three best of the academic year 2013/2014 the Faculty of Speech therapy in Italy. The second thesis, entitled "Survey on the satisfaction of patients and parents about Gulp !, the first mobile application for the specific myofunctional treatment of atypical swallowing", showed how the app is a pleasant and easy way to patients' eyes .
