Reviews

merci d'avoir (enfin) ajouté le support au français!

All I can say is WOW! this has made my life so much easier! I hate having to type a text message let alone typing. I've had many apps that do not display the correct words let alone sentences. Google displays the right punctuation marks, when stopping mid sentence, it let's you continue without capitalizing your next word. Need to try it to love it!

Can you please have the Google text to speech identify individual emojis? Calling more than one emoji smile or smiling face is not helpful to a blind person. Also is there some way to make improvements so that the voice sounds more natural? Also why can't the same voice that is used for the Google Assistant be used for the text-to-speech engine? It is an excellent voice. Several years ago that was the high quality voice that we used for the Google Text-to-Speech engine.

I found that voices are monotonous and there's no option for "expressive" intonation for voices. I wanted Google TTS to use my mobile network to produce more enhanced voice but it still sounds like 80s robotic voice. iOS has far better voices which sounds more human. Few apps like "@voice" gave me option to use mobile Network for more human like voice but why can't Google provide the same options in their settings menu? Why would I have to switch to other apps (@voice or iOS) to just get more human like experience? Hence I didn't like this app.

I was once a big fan of this App but like other reviews I find it degressing, Almost stagnating. Instead of learning and growing, it just seems to be "phoning it in". (punintended 🙂) Samsung has surpassed this giant in a big way. Just like the ol' sayin' goes, " always go with the 2nd best Co. as they will try harder than the 1st". Seems an apt and clever axium. I just uninstalled it from my note 8. Yeah Samsung! Boo Goo...

Works ok sometimes but very inconsistent. Samsung's text to speech is way better. This one only let's you get a couple of words in before it interrupts you so while using my Bluetooth can't get the message finished. It's like the impatiant cow joke. Maybe time for an upgrade Google!!!

It kept writing different things than what I was saying so I don't think the voice recognition works very well when you have to keep correcting the Dead the dialogue it sucks. And if said many embarrassing texts that made people scratch their f****** heads it chooses words that I don't even say or sentences that I don't even say not too sure if I like this or not. Sorry being honest.

Please check the latest update because now when I'm using Google gboard and when I hit the microphone button I do not get any audio response back telling me that I need to speak. Just a visual. Edit: I'm an idiot. My MEDIA volume level was down.

Since around the time android 8.1 was released the voice to text functionality has been spotty at best. Appears to be a caching issue. Voice to text simply stops working at random. After a reboot it works for a while and after a cach clear the problem goes away for a day or two. Very annoying indeed.

I really love this app! I use this app over texting a lot. This app is fantastic for texting hands free! Also can be a time saver versus having to type a long to very long message. Plus if there's some words that you have trouble spelling like me. Then its very helpful for that also. My one and only issue I have with this app is sometimes I will be speaking ABSOLUTELY CLEAR and it won't even be close to what I tried to say. Then sometimes it takes multiple tries of repeating what you're trying to say. Then there's times that you just have to give up and have to type it in! But side note sometimes it can be hilarious with the combinations it comes up with! Overall great app! (Also I used the speech function for this review and it understood me. With only very few minor errors.)

Amazing app. I love it. Is a fantastic idea and way of learning. Is the perfect way to work on speech. Build short notes and reminders. Speaking correctly, positive wording and good manner. Pronunciation and even grammar at times might seem hard but with this app theres no better way of practising. Is a possitive start a. And being able to write about it by simply talking. Is beautiful. Achieved. I can't wait to try it

A for annoying and awful. U for unusable. The app doesn't keep the screen on, and it stops as soon as the screen goes black. My version of Android doesn't allow the screen on for more than 10 minutes. It's a pain to reactivate the app. If the phone rings and you want to answer, it's another pain. The goal is to have the reader continue while I focus on something else. Impossible!

Now if I'm right if this is a different app than I'm reviewing I apologize but if this is the one you used to talk text it sucks. It does not hear all you say and if it can't figure out what you're saying it just puts a period on it and forget the rest. So you have to reread everything you're talking so might as well just text it and not use talk text. It's like it gets tired and says oh well I'll just put what I want and I'm done.

I want to love this app. But the words do not always translate well. And before I realize it, i have sent the message. It does not have a built in spell checker either. Her spelling sucks. And she does not always say what I am saying. So it is either funny or embarrassing or extremely frustrating depending on the receiver and context

Update I wish there was a way to roll back to an older versions that actually works. It put words together that is not used together in the English language. I've been using this for a long time but, I have a one+ 6, the voice recognition is horrible on the new version. It types the word correctly but then it changes it to something that does not make sense in a sentence. Changes words like "bet" to "said", "in" to "and"

Ok. let's review.. been using this for quite a while now on plethora of devices across pretty much all of the manufacturers that use and it's by far the most intrinsically, incomprehensibly versatile bit of tech support by far and and inherently not used nowhere near enough due to privacy issues outside socially. doesn't always hear what I'm saying and yes I'm using it right now but for the most it works. maybe it's time for better microphones in devices hint hint Google cos you can change that

Google has fallen short like I've never seen before. This app will only frustrate you! It will not make your life any easier. You will only question why or how Google could release such a pathetic piece of software. This app rarely works, and you spend more time correcting then anything else.----》 UPDATE: Google Text to Speech absolutely continues to disappoint and frustrate. Hey Google "developers", are you there??...... McFly!?!?!?....Yo developers....Pathetic!

help!! i force stopped then came here to unindtall then reinstall this because once i force stopped i couldnt enable again and now i cant reinstall! i LOVE my google keyboard and hate it when i lose my microphone button! there are toi many solutions online...all it does is confuse me. what i did here was probably different steps from different websites. just wisg it didny get lost in the first place. and idk if this app has anything to do with it. help. please. 😏

I don't hate the app... far from it. It's just a massive tech problem. The shortcut disappeared and I don't know how to get it back. I've searched and searched on the net... nothing. If I try to uninstall, it doesn't... instead, in my apps on google it just says update. So... can't use it... can't uninstall it so... pointless.

I really dislike the fact that this app insists that random commas be preceded by the word "oh." It's not my diction that is at fault, according to friends and family. This is a very annoying shortcoming, as the pre-programmed correction leaves a space before the comma. Therefore you have to leave text to speech to fix it, and that means that yes I do spend a lot more time on this app than I expected to, given what it accomplishes for me.
