Excellent Layout, My Go To Source. The only gripe I have is in the customization feature. If I say I want less of a certain type of article, the system is not precise enough to understand why. If it shows an article about a teenage YA novel, and I say I want less of that, it will then ask: "Do you want less of literature or novels?"....... No, I'm a 40 year old man, I want stories about novels, just not YA novels.

  2. A Google user-avatar

Decent news app that does a good job of showing the news you want to see if you take the time to tailor things. I like that I can hide sources/topics and I like the "full coverage" button. Problem is, the widget is no longer adjustable and is fixed as 4x1. This cuts off half the info. Needs to be 4x2 on my phone. I like using the widget as I can see a quick overview. Can this be corrected?

  3. Gaurav Chhetia-avatar

Hello, Why such an important application like this is missing or is performing so badly on Push Notifications front. No, not even a single push notification from this app. I even doubt that does this app has this feature or not. I checked a lot of settings, but still no desired results yet. I use OnePlus 7t, but many around me are facing this issue. Please look into this as without this feature, this app will look like having less to no utility. It would be better use news sources app directly.

  4. Shaftamle-avatar

It's a great app if you're looking for the amount of information you'd find in a full set of encyclopedias. For the love of God would somebody just create an app that gives you basic news. Similar to the Google now search page. I do not understand why it has to be endless flows of nonsense. This is exactly why I stopped using feedly. The world doesn't need more anxiety and more things to do. We need quick bits of news. Not an endless barrage of nonsense

  5. Jay Blevins-avatar

When it works it is fine. However, it constantly fails to load the news stories and requires a force stop or reboot to start working again. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to not include certain sources. I don't want sources that don't at least provide a small number of free articles. It's annoying to have sources that require a subscription keep showing up.

Don't think it will ever work properly for me. Does not matter how many news sources I block or thumbs-down I give, every single time I go to the 'For You' tab I have to scroll through football/soccer articles. I have sent messages to developer but no reply. Please, if you are reading this Google; I HATE SOCCER. Rather give me any other possible sport than that. Other than that SERIOUSLY STUPID FUNCTION, I love this app and use it every day.

  7. Eli Fennell-avatar

Recently, the Android version of Google News for Chrome OS was switched to the Progressive Web App. In theory, this could be great. In practice, the PWA has not achieved parity yet. It lacks a Dark Mode, does not permit Direct Sharing to other Google News users, and does not do Push News Notifications (or they don't work). This feature gap is unacceptable. Please address these shortcomings ASAP. I will remove 1-Star from my rating for every few weeks these issues remain unresolved.

  8. Song Bird-avatar

This would have been 5 stars but since the 4x2 tile widget with the headlines had been changed, I'm considering uninstalling. Why can't both 4x1 and 4x2 be options?? UPDATE I found a better app to replace Googe News as the advice received did not help. BBC News can expand to a full page and scroll to view more headlines. Thanks Google, my frustration with trying to work with your app caused me to look elsewhere for a news app that would meet, and in this case, exceed my expectations.

There is one odd thing. I've used this app on a Samsung phone an iPad. Test. On Google' s own phone, Pixel 3a , it does not install an icon on the backdrop. I have to open Androt app store to open Google News. Is this because there's a cutdown version of Google news if you swipe left from opening screen shots of the Pixel?

Overall a good app but the inability to say "fewer stories like this" to articles deemed "headlines" is frustrating. Example: Anything with the word "Kardashian" in it most people would say isn't a headline and arguably isn't even news. Why can't I tune my preferences? I could at one point.. Please fix and I will bump the star rating.

  11. Craig Johnson-avatar

This app seems to work for a little while then suddenly you get a blank screen with a spinner on it while it's trying to load something. Nothing works after that. I have to exit the app, remove it from the active list and relaunch it. After doing relaunch the article(s) I was trying to read are gone. This happens multiple times on a daily basis. Time to look for a newsreader app that actually works.

I really like this news app. But it's main flaw is while on the app reading an article (as an example), it just closes randomly. I find this so annoying and it's happening more frequently. I'm considering moving to another news platform until this bug is fixed.

Google news is a part of my daily routine. It curates exactly what I want to read. I absolutely love it!! I wish if there was a way to have paid sources (Washington Post / NY Times) provide some excerpt during COVID times to read important news related to the pandemic rather than block the articles out completely. Or if Google news would let me find a similar article on a free news source equivalent to the paid sources.

I used to like this app for my news source but the automatic rescrolling back to the top of the page when you finish an article is infuriating. What is the point in making people scroll back down through the articles/headlines they've already seen to pick up where they left off? Update: Issue resolved, thank you. 2ND UPDATE: SCROLLING PROBLEM IS BACK. PLEASE FIX!

  15. NEON BLUE-avatar

App is broken,,,, i go to read an article and it keeps showing me an older article I read 30 minutes ago,,, no matter what new article i click on,,,, example,, i click on news 24 and it will show me something random instead,,, videos don't play properly,,, landscape crashes it and resets,,,, i clicked on a video today and all it did was show me adds that can't be skipped, so i waited 30 seconds after the ad finished, and the video I was waiting for wouldn't play,, no skip no next no nothing 👎

  16. Bagha Shams-avatar

I'm getting really, really tired of seeing themes that I have zero interest in being shown to me again and again and again despite I manually select "show me fewer stories like this" 100 times. What's the point of that option if it doesn't work? It's like it makes you see more stories instead of fewer. I read a couple Bitcoin articles months ago and now I forced to see hundreds of stupid Bitcoin articles every day. What a stupid, stupid algorithm Google.

  17. Davyd Ford-avatar

It was working reasonably well, my tablet did a system update and now I can't get the app to work. It just says 'Can't update at the moment, check your internet connection', so I've disabled the app. By the way, don't try emailing with the eMail address on google play store, it doesn't exist!

  18. Lóan Burger-avatar

Seems to be an advertising wall these days many news articles under technology are really just ads. Does not hide all hidden sources. Omits sources I want to see more off Old issues still relevant : Autoplays videos even when set not to. Caches data really poorly which constantly requires manually clearing the cache. Keeps showing a message I'm not connected to the Internet. Not showing favourite sources. In Web I can see stuff.co.nz but not in the app. It's a rubbish app with outdated news.

  19. B N-avatar

ZERO STARS FOR THIS JUNK! This app is absolute garbage. No matter how many times I click to either not show me or less items from certain news sources my feed is still filled up with all those items. it makes my feed completely useless to me as I don't have all day to filter thru all the stuff I've repeatedly requested to not see. I find it hard to fathom that a developer as large as Google can't remedy this after this long. At my wits end, but I've found Feedly which is 100% better than this.

It's good for news readers but it has one defect that is sometimes it is not supporting for web search. I hope Google will rectify this problem. If anyone wants to know meaning or some other things about the related information Google wed search will help us but in Google News it not working properly. So rectify this problem will improve the more users

Videos not playing on OnePlus 8. It's similar to when we used to use flash player all the time on computers. If I didn't have flash enabled videos wouldn't play. In this case the device tries to play the video in the news feed and it gets stuck. Then an error message saying "Unable to play video. Retry?" I try again and again. Doesn't work.

  22. Zach Patton-avatar

Having a lot of issues actually getting links to articles to open up. I have full cellular data coverage right now and everytime I open and article in my feed I get the spinning wheel of time slowly passing. Eventually nothing happens and I go to a different app to try and get my news.

  23. junior NTR-avatar

This app is simply superb and also one of the best application for reading all the news in the world. But please provide the beta testing program for this application. I didn't get notification from the notification panel this is the problem I have facing. So please fix that issue thank you

  24. –Phase–-avatar

I used this app for months, it worked great. I mainly used the home screen widget to access stories and the main page. Yesterday, seemingly out of no where, the widget size changed to 4x1. Now I can't read a single headline because the entire widget is squashed in on itself. What the hell, why would you change the widget size to 4x1? It's not even adjustable, so I can't even adequately use the app now. Will be looking for a different news app.

  25. Andrew Power-avatar

Good app, could use some improvements. The app isn't always up to date with the news compared to the desktop version (even Chrome on my phone). I'll get an error saying I'm not connected to the internet. Refreshing does nothing. Eventually it updates itself. Not app-specific, but Google news incorporates a lot of unusual and not-so-credible sources for news. Thankfully you can tell it not to show x source anymore and it will stop showing stuff from that news agency.

  26. Paul Granger-avatar

what happed on chromebook lost the ablity to use android app, now just a web app on chromebook, back to reading on tablet, i thought chrome books could run android apps well mine did till google thought otherwise.chromebook is only one year old this new chrome OS could be the problem, please look into, this chromebook was my go to for news and videos, now i will not look into another one lost a sell with this screw up

  27. Don C-avatar

This app no longer functions properly on my Samsung Chromebook. The apps opens now within the Chrome Browser whereas before it used to open up within the app itself. The Newsstand option is no longer available either. These issues seem to coincide with the latest Chrome OS upgrade which perhaps updated or made some changes within the Android OS running on the Chromebook. 07/06/2020- Bad to Worst- Application used to load up within itself, now loads up as an apk within browser, broken useless app

  28. Tom Keel-avatar

There's no way to change the text size specifically for this app, and this app systematically displays text (in the articles) smaller than what other apps display based upon the system-wide text size parameter. So either I have to change the global parameter when entering and exiting this app, or slowly go blind.

  29. Samuel Short-avatar

Provides an astonishingly relevant news feed tailored to my interests that often flags articles that I would probably have never found on the source news sites. I drop one star because there is no way to increase the font size to make articles more readable on a smartphone, and it seems far too easy to accidently click thru on annoying ads. Is it possible that Google have somehow increased touch sensitivity within this app to cause spurious and accidental click-thrus to generate ad revenue??

  30. roberta clark-avatar

My complaints are: the occasional appearance of stories way outside my preferences (soccer scores?). Also too many repeat ads. Otherwise, very balanced. I find NO overwhelming bias toward left- or right-leaning sites, with a good mix of both, allowing me to form my own independent opinions on current events and people making the news.

  31. Ryan Frizzell-avatar

App used to be great, but recently it started showing an excessive amount of leftist garbage. Thumbing down articles seems to have no effect anymore. Maybe try showing an alternative point of view every once in a while instead of making the app into a liberal echo chamber. Edit: I've had enough of your propaganda and am deleting the app.

  32. Aswin C-avatar

The web pages are unreadable (although its owned by the news companies). It feels weird when we click on a news article from the polished UI of google news and it takes us into this ad filled junkyard webpage. Its a wrestle to find where the news article is. I think google should learn from Microsoft news and optimize the news page for its users and place ads sensibly without interrupting the overall user experience.

  33. Earlie Sanders-avatar

Has been flawless forever but for past 3 months on my Galaxy S20 Ultra it spins and won't load the articles I click on. I cleared cache and it started doing it again 5 minutes later. Reinstall works for about the same. It is a crapshoot on if it work anymore from day to day.

  34. Joseph White-avatar

Forgotten App. This app has suddenly stopped being able to load articles, making it completely useless. It still creates the list of articles that might interest you, but they just come up with a white page and never load. Very frustrating. Just another app that Google has forgetten about and left to die on the vine.

  35. Adam Stillman-avatar

Manipulated Norton application lock so that it was being locked and unlocked and not my other news apps. It shows up as icon in application lock instead of my news app, then it sends notifications that log be out of the other app. Highly invasive abuse of privacy and security. Antitrust!!!!!!!

  36. A Google user-avatar

Needs a reset preference option. Think I have broken the ai. Also the marking things as opinions need to be more agressive on everything. Lacks a source citation, opinion. Title is misleading or filled with power words, opinion. Talk show with opinions, opinion. Cute video from Twitter, opinion.

  37. Tre H.-avatar

The share intent widget in this app is terrible. If you have 1000 apps that can be shared to, you'd have to scroll horizontally forever to find the app you want. Not only that, but the apps are not sorted alphabetically either. Who's brilliant idea was this??

  38. David Ferraris-avatar

I would love this more if it didn't leave stories I've already read in the feed for days, or was more customizable. Also, after I click through on three or four stories, it locks up, and I have to force stop and open it again.

  39. Manoj Kumar-avatar

Google News is very good app and easy to use. Google Translate option not available on this app. Please update this feature in this app

  40. Corey Heath-avatar

It's ok. It's nice to read certain news stories and the app let's you customize what kind of stories you get which is very nice. The notifications can be quite annoying at times, such as the same one repeating or one that is irrelevant.

When I set an app to not auto play video I expect it to behave that way. This app seems to ignore it's ownn settings and auto play of videos still occurrs nearly every time a video is displayed. Updated: Would also be really nice if you stopped giving me local news for places I don't live.

  42. MyDogSmells1-avatar

Google news offers a wide range of news sources but locks up every single time I use it. It's progressively getting worse too. Very aggravating Google! *UPDATE - I've had enough if the near constant crashes and am removing this app. So very disappointed because it used to be fairly stable.

  43. John Pruitt-avatar

At one point this was a good news aggregator, however as of late, the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons don't work, nor does the "stop showing me news from this source" button so it shows me the same articles I dislike from the same sources that I hate. On top of this, the "tell us why" options are not as good as they should be. An article on Kim Kardashian will say "entertainment" "Television" or "Culture" for the options, when the real reason is because you don't care about kim.

Experience is overall very good but one annoying thing is constantly happening. When I enter in full screen while playing video in portrait mode and then rotate the phone in landscape it just refreshes the whole page and it goes out of full screen and I have to play video from the beginning. It's just annoying! Please fix that and it will be perfect.

Used to like more. But lately, been having difficulties opening various news links/articles. Ones I have been able to open before like Rolling Stone....Seems random. When they don't open, I just get the spinning wheel and nothing. Going to Google news community, similar question has been asked, only to have the feed locked out and no answer provided.

Switching between portrait and landscape resets the article to the beginning every time. Even when I'm in a video within an article, switching kicks me out of the video and goes all the way to the top of the page. Same thing switching back. Super annoying. It's been an issue at least as long as I've had the app, which is at least several months now, and it's very obvious/easy to catch. Why is this still an issue?

  47. John Hazzard-avatar

I have been subscribed to a couple of magazines for a number of years now. It used to be easy and convenient to access them with the magazine reader supplied. This is not the case now, because they are so buried in the current app that I am often not able to even locate them in a reasonable time. The current system is definitely a substandard way of accessing subscribed magazines.

  48. Praveen Rao-avatar

More recently, I have observed, that when I am reading or browsing through news, it suddenly goes out of the app. Have to go into the app again and search for what you were reading. This happens far too frequently

  49. Matthew Jacob-avatar

Boring. Unable to set feed to reliable news sources. Unable to compress view to get more information per screen. Once again Giggle attempts to sell itself as knowing you but instead but instead makes itself look like a particularly stupid mainframe from 1971.

I spend more time removing articles from my Google News feed that I don't want than actually reading articles from the feed. It continues to show me topics I don't want to see, even after I block those topics. It shows variants of the same article over and over and over. Also, there should be some way to limit the time range of articles shown. And now I'm noticing that articles that I've removed are reappearing.

  51. JSD-avatar

The PWA that I'm forced to use on my Chomebook is terrible. The Android app was a joy to use, with its beautiful cards and its ability to handle articles within the app. Now the PWA is just the browser version in a window. While still usable in tablet mode, it's not as natural as the Android app. Worse, it kicks me back out to the browser when trying to read an artice not using AMP. Either improve the PWA exprience first before forcing people to use it, or allow us to switch back to Android.

  52. cindy triplett-avatar

I get all the news I need and want, before it hits television or other news sources. Also my news is not filtered through either Democrats or republicans . Meaning I can draw my own conclusions from the facts. I love this news source.

Previous version which was newsstand was best i would say. When I am following very few and limited sources then why the hell is it showing me news from the sources which I never followed and never want to follow even. Fix this you will get a 5 then from me.

  54. Levi Black-avatar

The app doesn't offer setting for specifying time ranges. Current news is often flooded with stories over 48 hours old. As an avid reader of news, seeing the exact same articles for days doesn't qualify as new information. I want to be able to limit my list of stories to the last 12 or 24 hours only. The absence of such an obvious feature makes the app pointless for more than once a day use at best.

  55. Adam Simpson-avatar

I like to be spoiler free when it comes to games and TV shows. If I see an article that may contain spoilers I give it a thumbs down and select the reason why, stating I don't want news about a particular game or show. I have to repeat this process multiple times a day and despite doing this over 20 times, the algorithm still pushes me news related to topics I've downrated. I've had winner's of TV shows spoiled because of this. I just want to be able to mute certain topics!

  56. Old UNIX guy-avatar

Do you really expect me to read 3 lines of text in 4 seconds? After more use - I hate apps that automatically update. Using app. Go to another like browser, email, etc. Come back - article reading closed. Articles updated to where one I was wanting to view or the one I was viewing is now gone. Also it filters so much that most articles you just get summary sentence. Have to open in browser to read. Useless. Turning off autoplaying of videos doesn't work.

  57. Bear-avatar

It's unfortunate to entwine so many ads within the news that appear as news items themselves. This is a dangerous and misleading practice that needs to stop. I encourage Google News to re-examine the practice or to more vividly segregate and identify those advertisements clearly as advertising. Advertisements should not be allowed to use the same font and text size as the other Google news articles so that a reader can easily distinguish that they're not actually reading news.

If you want tabloid journalism, articles from pay to read sites after you have clicked the option GOOGLE GAVE YOU to no longer see articles from that site, and the same articles for DAYS on end then THIS is the app for you! If there is a legitimate, reputable, unbiased news source out there, I would love to find it. Google too busy making money to care if their news is accurate.

  59. Paul T Sjordal-avatar

For some reason, a lot of the news articles contain only one or two sentences with no way to read the rest of the article, unless you use a browser to search the internet for the web version of the article. The app is nice when it actually works.

OCT 2018: Poor replacement of the previous app News & Weather. (1) The dark theme doesn't get to the widget (2) Home screen widget is too bulky with lots of unused space. Should be of size 4×1. (3) Local news doesnt show up depending on the location, need to go to favourites to look at them (4) The previous app also used to show the weather of all favorite locations which was very useful. (5) The weather details were good enough earlier which is missing now. APR 2020: Widget has got issues

  61. Casey Bridges-avatar

I used to love this app when I had my Galaxy S7 Edge mainly Because of the widget. However, now that I've upgraded to the Galaxy S20+ the widget is really small & messed up. For whatever reason you can't adjust the height of the widget, so you can only see the top line of the news story which is really annoying. I Don't understand why Google News only has 1 4×1 widget I wish they would ad more sizes & maybe a dark themed widget as well. Also, the temp in the top right corner is ALWAYS wrong.

Very helpful !! Well after reading reading a few review I would say the developers had done a great job by making the app much better .Well till now I haven't seen any ads or any kind of problem in the app . It's very helpfull . I further wanted the developers to look up for a better interface than one it's running

  63. Rhonda Shult-avatar

I'm about ready to give up on Google news. I get to read a few articles then the articles quit loading. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app but I'm having the same problem. Get this fixed and I will up the stars. Don't get it fixed and I'll uninstall for good.

These personalized bits of information are my go to to start my day after meditation, it keeps me in the loop and I appreciate the effort on the Google team to offer the best on-line services, hands down; my favorite.

Been with this app forever, its solid. Why it is so sticky when scrolling down is beyond baffling. Surely you can up your game Google. I use a high end phone, this issue goes back to the beginning of time.

  66. Craig Kral-avatar

I just had to reinstall this on my amazon tablet and discovered that the mini cards option is gone! What happened to minicards? I want to be able to see all the headlines at a glance. Now I have to scroll through pages of annoying animated pictures that take up half the screen. Please give me back my minicards.

It's a great and simple news app. It feels elegant and neat. I've used many news apps over the years, but all of them have been overly designed and been blocked up with too many dynamic feathers that just feels like a content overload. This app is actually just a nice place to be and is a good example of Google simplicity done right

Rotation still resets views of websites which makes it impossible to view videos in landscape after stating in vertical mode without loosing progress. This is super annoying and has been broken for a long time. It seems the developers just don't care enough to fix it (reported ~ a year ago).

This is an excellent way for me to keep informed of the curated news of the day since I don't own a television...and even though I know all the algorithms are flawed, it still gives me sound bites that are useful.

  70. YK Kim-avatar

News widget is so comfortable in that it allows me to see top topics of today on the home screen. Resizing height of widget was allowed before and 4×2 gives much more comfortable view cuz I can see the whole headline sentence at once. But now there is a widget issue on this app. I cant resize its height and only width resizing works(I can choose only 4×1 or 5×1). I dont know if google has banned height resizing recently or it is just an unexpected error. I hope this issue could be resolved soon.

Loved this app when I first downloaded it. Lots of articles geared towards topics I had previously read or news outlets I frequented. Unfortunately with the majority of newspapers asking for subscription fees to access their articles now, the majority of the news on the app is celebrity click bait or top ten lists no one cares about. Sad end to a once decent app.

  72. Scott-avatar

It's ridiculous that it's so difficult to add a sports team I do follow. If the professional team is not in the state I live in, it's like they don't exist. Sick of news outlets configuring what I view. It's why I rarely use Google news. I find my news by actually searching the news outlets that don't feed you news via iv. News for intelligent people is required, you force-feeding jerks

  73. Dean Arnold-avatar

Pointless app as you can just scroll to the left on your home screen to get this anyway. Also it doesn't work and is full of ads, the overlying ads don't load which means I can't select anything/play videos in the articles.

  74. Anton Langston-avatar

What the F is going on with your news app Google!? For a company that provides information you have the worst news app I have ever used! It never updates, so the articles are always days/weeks old... It won't refresh articles from the news sources I've selected... Searching news outlets provides me with no results... What are you doing!? Either remove this from the app store completely (because its ruddy useless!) or sort out the app and fix it!

I use the app on two devices a Samsung S7 Edge and a Nokia 3.1 works great on both, occasionally I do need to open the app and pull down to refresh the widget but that is usually only when I'm checking it more the every 1-2 hours. As for some of the other reviews; the ads showing is how they provide the service for free. There is always the option to open the article website directly by the triple dots at the bottom right, stop being lazy and complaining, it's free

  76. ComicCrazy-avatar

Ever since the new update, while reading or thumbing through stories, timeline updates reset to top stories. While reading a current story, timeline will update, kick you off page and reset and scroll to the top! Annoying! Cant read without being reset! Will not use anymore!!

  77. Sam Felton-avatar

Pretty good, but needs to enforce a consistent UX for ads. This sh*te is all over the place. It is the one big reason why I still use Microsoft News - their advertising UX is consistent and far less annoying.

  78. Steve Cooke-avatar

Mostly ok, but has the annoying feature of sending me back to the home screen when it updates the news. A great feature would be the ability to suppress ALL celebrity news, and sport as well.

  79. Susan Erbetta-avatar

Great app! You can set your preferences in news apps. Google is constantly striving to give you as many news sources and as much entertainment as possible. Much appreciated-Thanks Google!

  80. A Google user-avatar

Google news used to be the best news app in the market but recently the changes they have made have made it nearly useless. None of my suggestions when I try to ignore a type of story are accounted for and it constantly fills me feed with random things that I may have searched for in Google once or twice.

  81. Jason Schrock-avatar

Great news curator for your interests!! I love the feature that lets you see all the news coverage for any major story - I can get all the perspective from a wide range of political leanings without having to go to many different websites to find the articles. Helps me stay balanced and neutral in my perspective.

  82. Yogesh Sharma-avatar

Keeps on pushing paid news. I keep on getting these stupid news about celebrities, without getting an option to click not interested or remove them from news feed. Google is clearly pushing certain news items for money. It certainly casts a shadow over how unbiased the news selection is or are they trying to push public perception in certain way. Makes you question their intentions.

  83. Danny Lim-avatar

Nice contents but slow loading website link even to some reputable site, average takes 3-5 sec after clicking on the notification. On Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus with 1GB fiber network in Singapore on AX11000 WI-FI 6 router. Not sure about other devices!

  84. pete Ninetails-avatar

Google news, whether it's the app or just online, doesn't understand the difference between actual news (ie current events, politics, y'know serious things) and pointless Internet tat. I spend a good portion of my time getting rid of web pages from my news feed that have nothing to do with the news: gossip, celebrities, cooking, fkn fortnite, or local news sites detailing the local goings-on that are no doubt interesting to the people who live in the area but totally irrelevant to everyone else.

Thank you Google–Team for this app. ––– A request, please: Under the "Following" tab, add a feature/option that will allow users to view all recent articles from each of the "Topics", "Sources", and "Local" sections. For example, I am following the "Topics" — Statistics, and Machine Learning; (currently) the app only allows me to view updates on these topics, one–at–a–time; it would be nice if I can (also) view all updates in this section ("Topics") with one tap. ––– Thanks, again.

  86. Sinan Yalcin-avatar

Like the app on my phone, but disappointed on the tablet version. There is no mini card (compact layout) option on tablet. Layout not optimized, the articles are way too big, 1-2 articles covering the entire screen, difficult to view, need scrolling a lot. Could you please add mini card option to the tablet version?

  87. Austin PC Help-avatar

The inability to change font size is absurd and makes the app unuseable for users with visual impairment. (My system font size is already set to "largest", but Google news still displays the font tiny.) Most apps and websites are poor in terms of accessibility options, but for Google's news app? Unacceptable.

  88. Said Ali Samed-avatar

The reason for 1 star is that you have decided to replace native android version with web app version on Chrome OS. It no more delivers the look and feel of a full fledge featured native app but just a web page. Other quircks: opening a news link takes me to web browser. Before it loaded the news inside the app and could easily go back with back button. I would suggest Google work on making Android apps to integrate fuller with ChromeOS than giving up to web apps as a solution.

  89. John Hufnagel-avatar

Personalized and custom tailored with the news and information I need at the moment. Accurate weather and thumbnail headlines turn into full blown stories with a tap. We use Google News several times a day for quick updates that effect us locally and nationally.

You need to improve this app, by refining the content and easiest way to visit the desired publishers, more interest based news and headlines should be there, need more detail to the content by adding various feature that can help in reading it in more better way, need to work on notification as featured content are not notified and also very less breaking news notified, need more notification from publisher of choice.

  91. Celia Kilburn-avatar

I don't like the videos automatically starting while I'm just scrolling down on my tablet. There have also been times I've tapped on the news article because I want to see the photo that's included with it, but then there's only the story without any photos.

  92. Nick Fuller-avatar

Until mini-cards come back and the trash sources & bot sources are removed. The app is going to be disabled. After maybe 10 years of using a Google news aggregator, it's too poor to continue with. So shoddy, give us back the previous version, this PWA version is dreadful.

  93. FeFee Bee 123-avatar

Don't really use this app but when I do wanna find a good news site to look into they are a perfect place to go. There isn't anything that's has come to a suprize to me yet on TV cause Google keeps me pretty updated, so if that's what your into being up dated regularly on news , I know a few of y'all then this app is for you. If you don't like to hear your phone alot turn off the notifications just FYI😉 Great app all in all

  94. Chris Johnson-avatar

Great when it works. It mostly just spins. I'm guessing an update messed something up. It used to be awesome. Time to find another news source and check back in a few months.

  95. Fadlul Faris-avatar

The widget is too limited, 5 news is not enough, and pressing next button is cumbersome, let me see everything at once or scroll/swipe through..... And the homepage is too personalised, just because I'm interested in some stuff doesn't mean I don't care about anything else in the world... Yea I know you have the headline section, but I almost never go there

  96. Danny Cecil-avatar

Android version on Chrome now forced to PWA. It just looks like using Google News on the web, it doesn't even try to look like the old app. No dark mode makes reading news late at nite really unpleasant. What's the point of supporting Android apps on Chrome if you Google is going to force us to use web apps anyway?

  97. Darren Austin-avatar

This app has got worse lately for padding stories out over multiple pages to expose the reader to additional ads. I've just counted 39 pages of ads to get to the reveal. Furthermore, breaking news takes hours to appear on the app. Will be looking for an alternative with less ads and quicker refresh

  98. Vivek Ahire-avatar

I'm a big "fanboy" of Google and Google apps, but I'll prefer Microsoft News over Google News for just one reason and that is it's flawless implementation of dark mode even in article pages. That is the dark mode in true sense.

  99. Jeff Goff-avatar

I us the widget and it randomly turns to a black background making the lettering invisible. NEW ISSUE: About a month ago the apps widget went from a 4x2 to a 4x1. The writing as a result is cut off. It is resizable horizontally but not vertically. I use a Samsung Galaxy S8

Google News is a great news platform that tailors your experience with what news and topics really matters to you. However, in the past few months, the app keeps closing unexpectedly. I'm not able to browse all the news while scrolling. Hope there could be a proper fix.
