I have bought several movies on this platform. I take issue with the downloading feature. It works inconsistently with Wi-Fi, even stable home connections. It will download portions of a movie and then suddenly stall saying "a network connection is required". Meanwhile, I'm browsing the internet and am even able to stream movies using this same app on the network connection it claims doesn't exist for downloading.


Great selection but could use some additional features. I would love the ability to make a playlist from the tv shows and movies I've bought, or at least be able to set up a queue list. My daughter is obsessed with holifays a d I wish I could put all the Halloween, Christmas, etc episodes into their own playlist so they are easy to access one after the other. I also wish you could view just the items you have purchased rather than having to see all the episodes of every season.


After subscribing to various streaming apps for several months, I soon became bored with the lack of current blockbuster movies that were available. Thankfully with Google Play Movies and TV app, there is always something available to suit everyone in the household at any given time. I've found this app more useful than others for that reason, and would rather pay as I watch than subscribe monthly for movies and TV shows that are outdated as soon as they're released, in many instances.


Won't cast to Chromecast Ultra. I need to cast from browser. Tells me that I can't cast by mirroring... I'M NOT TRYING TO. I only figured it out when trying to refund a movie rental I couldn't play... Still couldn't figure out how to refund it. Edit: Got notification that the developer responded to my review, but the notification just brings me here and I can't read it. Why don't you contact me instead of trying to appear helpful publicly? Edit: Okay, got response but doesn't solve "mirror" error


Same issues as a lot of people (with no replies to their ratings): Binge watch is not working and captions keep showing up even though they are turned off. I've never experienced any issues with the app until the most recent update. Pretty disappointing. 8/31 edit: Binge watch finally working again. 10/10 edit: Binge-watching doesn't continue between seasons, I have to manually start a new season. I've noticed this going on for at least a couple of weeks now.


Please make it easier to view what you have purchased and downloaded accessible offline... It's such a hassle having to load the app with service.. Especially when you have a job that doesn't allow you to in cell phone service for week or so. I'm sure all the city folk are fine because they are constantly in cellphone service or internet. Maybe make it like Google music where you're able to access content within 30 days without service. Thanks! Will be 3 stars till fixed


I used to like this app a lot and gave it 5 stars. In my last review, there were some issues i didn't like and gave it 3 stars. Now I can't even watch my movies wirelessly off my phone to my TV. Why should i have to buy a chromecast device when I already had a device to enable me to watch movies wirelessly on my TV. If I have to pay to watch movies, I should at least be able to watch them on any device without limitations. Because of this limitation, I now only give it 2 stars.


I'm actually quite satisfied with this app. You can either rent or buy a movie, watch it legally. However, I think there are much more thing to be improved. I realized most movies available in Google Play Movie are Hollywood. I hope you can add for Japanese movies too. Last time I searched for 5 cm Per Second and Ghibli's and I can't watch it there. Even movies in my country. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ˜… They're listed, but no option to be rented or bought.


I love this app. Definitely my favorite. The only thing about Google Play Movies is that they don't have every movie that i am looking for. It's listed, but some movies i can't get, and just saids "add to wishlist." I movie i would like to get is Unplanned but it's not available as of right now. Not sure why because it's been out since February or March. I hope it gets added soon. Other than that, Google Play Movies is great.


Every time I rent a movie, I have to ask for a refund because there is no video, only sound, upon rental. Doesn't matter if I use a different device, clear cache or reinstall the app. Such a disappointing waste of time. I don't think they're even trying to fix this. Longstanding problem with no fix. Thanks for stressing me out when I want to relax with a movie. After 2 years, I give up.


English films never available in the original language. I'm living in Germany and thought I should change my location on google play, a bit of a mistake, now it's only worth watching native german language content and I have to go elsewhere for English-language content. You can only change your location once a year, and even if I were to do that, I wouldn't be able to download some local apps. Itunes, netflix, even local services like maxdome or t mobile often offer multiple languages.


All my purchased movie and tv titles (I HAVE MANY) do not support subtitles!!! They work with rentals but not on ANY of my purchased titles!! Google customer service has FAILED me in CONSECUTIVE OCCASIONS each time i pluck up enough patience to try open a support case again it ends in broken promises, excuses and I STILL HAVE NOT GOT A RESOLUTION!!


Not playing video / movie. Always an error not being able to retrieve license. Trying to update. We will see... App now not opening... Used this feature for years, not sure what happened and lost a few movies along the way. Followed fix directions keeps coming up error 1 can't fetch licence. Also, going to the site to request a refund doesn't have account as a option to request a refund.


Generally quite favorable, easy to navigate and use. However, during a migration of content, I'm finding a number of television episodes are not grouped together (they appear in Season 1, Season 1 - 6, or Season 1 - 7). It would be excellent if they would allow consolidation of these episodes into one category.


The only reason why I got the Google daydream was to watch movies in VR, then they shut this app down for day dream, I travel alot so having my personal theater for plane rides and long road trips was amazing. Then On my most recent road trip I put my headset on and see that it disappeared was very disappointing, now I feel like I have no use for it ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜”


I stopped using due to limited features. Use Vudu instead. Normally I'm a avid Google customer and used to use Google play movies extensively until I realized the quality was misleading. 4k is available but unsupported on most platforms, including all of mine, but Google never made that clear during playback, despite my paying more for 4k quality. Dolby atmos isn't available at all. I've now switched almost extensively to Vudu and never use Google play movies at all. I hope that can change.


This app needs a full revamp. While it's easy enough to buy and watch content, it's pretty limited in it's capability compared to other services like Netflix. Even a "continue watching" feature would greatly improve the experience - having to open the app again and play the next episode manually when streaming via Chromecast is tedious.


I had high hopes for this app. I bought a couple hundred dollars of content so I could download it because my internet sucks and my movies don't work after a couple of days it says cannot fetch license I need to re download to fix it and then it does it again. So I won't be wasting anymore money on movies till it's fixed I hope this was helpful. UPDATE to this review due to an update I can no longer use my smart view to play movies I have PURCHASED!! On my tv It is not allowed anymore


Yet another update, and guess what?, **STILL 'NOT' WORKING!!!!!!! and Google clearly dont give a stuff, awful, never works either keeps crashing or movies flicker and unwatchable, cant even download your own purchased movies, utter waste of time, update after shed loads of emails and hundreds if complicated processes it still doesnt work!!!!!!!!!! Never works totally useless!!


Horrible since update.. Its wont let me screen view ( mirror ) to my tv anymore. Like others who are complaining i have invested a lot of money into my playlist of movies. The last update did away with that. I am very upset! I will NOT be purchasing Chromecast to watch my movies. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO! This is ridiculous! FIX IT!


I can play movies on my phone, however, when I open Google Play Movies to watch movies on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8, the movie will buffer then freeze and remain stuck with the Google Play movie app open but frozen. And with the app frozen, I have to wait until my battery dies in order to have my tablet fully operational again, are there any suggestions other than updating the app because the app does not appear to need any updates.


Great app but..... I have the Samsung galaxy note 10+ and the aspect ratio is 19:9. So some of my movies don't fit the whole screen. The movies are cut off right below the camera. On my vudu app the movies are in full 19:9 aspect ratio. So I know it can be fixed. Please please send that firmware update....... Update.... It's August 27th .....can I get a response please....?...


This app no longer lets me mirror from my Galaxy S9 to my new Sony Bravia 75โ€œ Smart TV. It says this type of playback is not supported. It use to mirror my movies from Google Play Movies to my phone. Do not use this app. Google support just informed me that GOOGLE PLAY MOVIES AND TV does not support MIRRORING . One week ago it was supporting.


The app keeps crashing and disappearing from my phone (happened in 2 phones). I have to keep going on play store and enabling the app for it to reappear. Even during watching series or movies. There is a bug to fix guys, please. (Doesn't happen to any other apps on my phones. Reinstalling didn't help).


movie cannot be played after purchase. Still the worst, couldn't fetch license issue constantly happened to purchased & downloaded movie. Cleared cache and delete for re-download doesn't help. Very inconvenient as we downloaded the movie for offline entertainment while travelling, at the end it doesn't work and just a waste of time money.


Hey ya'll! Great app for playing TV and movies - maybe even the best in my opinion. The only issue is that I'll get a lot of random errors along the lines of chromecast and mirroring even when I don't mess with the settings or app whatsoever. After three days of restarting my device and this app, I finally got rid of the error and could watch my shows again โ€” if anyone has a similar issue, simply uninstall Google play movies, shut down your phone, turn it back on and reinstall.


This app was awesome! No problems. Dropped a star because problems started. I can't play any of my movies now because a message pops up that says, "This type of playback isn't supported To play this video on another device, you'll need to use Chromecast instead of mirroring," even when I'm just trying to play them on my phone. Please fix this issue asap!

Great when it works. When it decides there's a license problem, however, it can thwart all troubleshooting attempts. Right now all the content I've purchased can't be played on my S8 due to the mysterious "can't fetch license" error. I've deleted the videos, cleared cache, and downloaded multiple times, but it still doesn't work. What do I have to do to watch the movies I paid for? Why has this been a problem for customers for so long? UPDATE: I received an email from someone at Google and tried following the instructions to have someone contact me, but that never happened. I'm about to take a long flight and wanted to see if I could get my movies working, so I did the delete/clear cache/download again, and once the file was downloaded I shut off wifi and went to airplane mode. I got a new error, 'network not available', despite the movie now being on my phone. Fiddling around a bit more, I tried playing it while connected to the network, which then worked, so I then again disconnected and tried again, and now it plays. This is the false sense of security I got before my last trip which resulted in this interview. I've tried the support contact steps again (response times less than 1 minute!), but still not a peep. I'd like something better than 'hope it works' before I set foot in an airplane again; something like a root cause analysis to convey the actual steps that either lead to success or failure so I can actually watch my legally purchased content in the ways I'm supposed to be able. Still one star until at least someone actually calls back.


Sound is either unavailable or will not sync when played on Android TV episodes I paid for a device I paid for and I can't watch the movies on it or TV shows do not buy any movies from them. I don't know what to do when it company scams you like this what do I do I can't call them do I contact the Better Business Bureau I've spent hundreds of dollars on movies I'm an idiot


I can't play my dowloaded movies. When they do play, they get deleted within two weeks. I checked my settings for clearing cache. I can't find the solution. I have an S8+. I just uninstalled and re-installed the app. The downloaded movie is playing now. Let's see if it gets deleted.


This app works every time without fail and I use a shity old tablet. Some of the new releases are a bit steep in price but meh, they go down in price over time, the tv shows should definitely be a bit cheaper. Some are old now and still expensive. Apart from that... Never had any issues.


All kinds of problems!!! Can't delete shows from device, shows wont load...get an error message. Show will stop midway and just buffer. I paid for these shows and movies. I should NOT be having problems streaming! Oh yeah...and before you could turn off subtitles and it would stay off. Now I have to turn subtitles off every single time a new episode starts. So annoying!!!


I have a hard time with the app because: 1. lack of audio options. 2. subtitles didn't work properly, English version didn't show up. other languages are not available. (web version) 3. I tried to use it on Huawei Desktop mode and its not supported, if screen mirroring screen was completely black. at the end i had to connect the laptop because the streaming to smart tv didn't work


Binge watch function does not work on my Pixel 2, iPad, Samsung TV, or Roku. This function used to work. I've submitted numerous feedback messages about this issue. I'm still waiting for a fix. I've contacted Google about this issue and the fix was to use the YouTube app. This is not a fix because if I'm watching something and I finish the season YouTube, instead of starting the next season, plays some video or show that I do not own. Please fix the binge watch feature on this app.


It's great for watching content but I can't download movies properly. I purchased a 128GB SD card for the main purpose of downloading movies for offline watching. However, even after changing the storage settings to be the SD card, the movies are still downloading to my internal storage. No matter what I've done to fix the issue -- removed the SD card, uninstalled Play Movies, changed settings back to internal storage, the back to SD card, etc. I would really like to see this fixed. edit: fixed!


Why is everything I select is in closed caption i went to my settings to turn it off and it's already off. I refreshed the app several times it's still on. Every show I watch I have to turn it off while in the show or movie. The best way I came to deal with it was to make it as small as possible, but it's still a eye sore. What a stupid problem to have.


Great app but... I no longer need it and want to cancel. It's IMPOSSIBLE to cancel it!!! I've been trying to for months and to no avail so I'm being charged $9.99 every month but not using it. I've called and called and no one can help me. They have no clue what it even is. They think it's YouTube TV. I've wasted so much money on this app now. Super disappointed.


Downloaded 4 episodes of Paw Patrol, paid ยฃ6.99 for HD quality, and can't play it because of a licence issue. Download again it says. I'm on 4 times now. Still no luck. ยฃ6.99 for a blank screen. Not happy and neither is my upset 2 year old.


Been using the app for a long time now and I normally download shows and watch them later on my Samsung TV since I have a Samsung phone. But as of September 19th 2019 Google will no longer allow me to mirror my phone video onto my TV good job Google you just lost a customer. If you don't believe me check how many downloads I download all the time you just lost a lot of money over that. And do not suggest that garbage Chromecast to me because you have to be on Wi-Fi to use it and I watch offline.


Possibly my most trusted and quickest movie app buuut... I do often find the occurance of the movies going black screened, and when I reload the app it is still there, and is there for every film. This only went away last time when I uninstalled, installed and logged back in


I don't use this app at all as it's not needed for me. The problem is that it wouldn't let me to uninstall it from the device. I have try many trials to uninstall it but it was not successful. Please make a way to uninstall the app without it asking to update itself as I am not using it but it's still using space in the device. Thank you.


Unable to play anything if it does not start from the very beginning. If it starts at 2-3 seconds in, or have to pause a movie and return to it later, it gives an error message (with no code). It's nice when it works but if you have to pause or rewind youre out of luck. (I am using this on a PixelBook.)


G play has great music selection when you can get it to work. Constantly saying not enough free space on phone. You have to clear cache. Delete downloads. Restart phone. Sometimes remove apps from phone. All of that and still demanding more room. I finally found the answer. I unsubscribed from google play and went back to I-heart Radio.


Constant unwanted subtitles! There's some sort of glitch that has just started where every single time I open an episode or movie it is automatically subtitled. I cannot find a way to change it back to how it was. The only way to stop them is to physically turn them off every single episode! Please fix it or tell me how to!


After researching the web in reviewing 2-3 yr old posts, it is easy to come to conclusions that Google has no interest to make changes to their Movie platform to make it a better user experience. I'm a huge fan of all Google product, but this one is a huge miss in my opinion. No extra content or languages options available but charges the same prices as iTunes as an example. The picture quality and sound is great, but all other platforms are, so no big deal! Sorry but 2* is all I can give!


This used to run fine. Now it plays one of my bought movies for about 10 seconds, then black screen and red circle like it's buffering. I have fast INTERNET. Even happens if I have downloaded the movie... Which was AN EXTREME INCONVENIENCE ON MY 10 HOUR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT!! I can scroll thru and see the screen shots, but won't play. I tried re-installing the app and clearing cache. Same results. I CAN'T WATCH MOVIES I PAID FOR!


Out of all google apps, this is the worst one I guess. Here are the things I have noticed. - App freezes too often. - I bought Big Bang Theory, Season 1-10. Whenever I have to watch the episode 1) it does not show where I stopped watching frequently. The app does not remember, Common Goddammit this is 2019. this should be a default functionality and this app is there from while. I got this to work by clearing cache and storage again and again and again. Gave up after some point. Fix the goddamn bug. 2)For navigating to the episode, I have to click i) library, ii) select Tv Shows iii) select season iv) select seasons 1-10 v) keep scrolling the goddamn list. Common Google, Why are you even showing me all other episodes/seasons when I don't own them and that too especially when I'm browsing through my library. Pure insane. - The most recent update, whenever I play the video, the screen dims as if the video is not playing. Hate to see such a low quality app coming from google. I wish google some how merges this with you tube and gets the you tube player instead of this worst player.


The fact the latest patch was for "Stability issues and bug fixes" is laughable, since I can't actually access anything on my phone without the message "An error occurred" popping up on my screen. This, coupled with not being able to download any of the shows or movies I've purchased is maddening to say the least. The most bizarre fact? The app was working just fine before the new updates.


Should've bought digital entertainment elsewhere. Can't play movies or tv shows without getting an "there was an error" mssg. What error? Force close, clear cache, try again. Maybe get lucky after 2 or 3 attempts to get a tv show to play but next episode, start process over again. Closed caption is defaulting itself on every show even though its turned off in settings. Disappointed with this app.


App is fine but Google policies and customer service are terrible! I purchased a movie, Captain Marvel, and wanted to share it with my daughter (who is starting college) on our family account, but it wasn't available... Contacted customer service and was told I had used the "wrong payment method" and either have to buy again (wasn't an option, SINCE I ALREADY OWNED IT), or give my daughter full access to my Google account. Ridiculous! Consider other options if you can...


Kinda fed up. I have 300+ movies, I download movies, it might work but most of the time, I get an error: couldn't fetch license. If you plan to download and watch movies, do not buy from Google, found out my issue is shared by many, no working resolution for most of us. Cant watch what you pay for, why buy from google


My preferred platform for buying movies and shows. Unfortunately many fake, spam and inappropriate reviews (people's addresses, absolute gibberish, complaints about costs as opposed to reviews of the product), which Google doesn't do anything about regardless of reports. Many shows lack captions/subtitles that are available on other providers, and many foreign shows don't have their original audio available.


Prior to 9.18.19 experience has been 5Star, I've invested time & money in Google Play to build a digital collection. The problem is you've taken away support for "Screen Share" in this update. I have Samsung TV's & phone + have used "Smart Screen" for years on a daily basis. It is far more practical & reliable to download my shows/movies to my phone's SD for watching anytime w/o streaming issues or degradation. I am unable to get ISP @my home & rely on 100gb 4G data/mo. for ALL of my TV viewing.


How can Netflix get streaming so right, and Google get it so wrong? If I stream, I often get regular interruptions to playback every few seconds. If I download, I often get errors either during download or playback ... sometimes both. Netflix works perfectly every time. Ridiculous.


Stopped supporting the use of HDMI to watch movies on a TV despite Google still saying this is possible. Every other app supports HDMI, Google is forcing you to buy Chromecast to use this app for no reason. Will never rent another movie using Google Play again.


Has some issues. Since the last update its been defaulting closed captioning to on regardless of settings in the app. It also has been having problems finding downloaded content when offline for a while now. Itll eventually find movies, but it almost never will find episodes of a show. Itll show you the series for shows, but not individual episodes.


What's "new" is actually the update that ruined the scrubbing controles. I used to be able to touch anywhere and drag to the left or right on screen to scrub through a movie or TV show and now I can barely do it at all. Sometimes it works, most of the time I have to deal with terrible controles that weren't broken to begin with. Now they've made it like the restrictive Netflix controles. VERY annoying...


Captions are stuck on, regardless of whether they sre selected or not. Additionally, my Nvidia Shield TV is unable to play certain videos anymore (error code 119), despite yesterday having no problems at all. I have done a complete factory reset of the device with absolutely no effect, although removing updates to Play Movies gets rid of the subtitles.


Used to work great but now it's not downloading any movies to play offline. Chose this route since I buy the movies for my 3 year old. I've tried uninstalling, clearing cache and just about anything else I find online. Frustrating!


It is a great experience to have movies available at all times. It has produced so much entertainment for me. But I recently have been having issues with my movies. When I tap on them to watch them, it instantly says "There was an issue." and while I was typing this, they somehow start working now.


This app has been brilliant. Bringing movies and tv series at reasonable prices. A bit disappointed that recently there has been some issues. An error message comes up on tv series I have bought. It will play one episode and then the error message will come back. A playlist option would be fantastic!


I loved this app until one day EVERYTIME i try and play a video it just says 'there was an error' thats it nothing else. It just wont play anything!! Hi I'm having PROBLEMS with this app, I bought and downloaded a lot of movies off this app, now NONE of them work... the screen comes up with (couldn't fetch licence, redownload movie). This has happened twice to me now. I am NOT going to uninstall and reinstall all these movies. I'm on prepaid and it costs a fortune to do this every time this app has a spit. Please fix it up.


All I get are can't fetch liscense errors when trying to watch a download movie off-line. And I've tried all of Googles "fixes". Update 5/9/19...problems are still there. cant watch rented movies that are downloaded, or owned movies that are downloaded. Clearing all the caches is temporary fix. Only works once. App has serious problems and Google isnt addressing them. update 8/13/19...same problems. simply pausing causes problem. only temp solution is to uninstall/reinstall.


App stops downloading movies randomly w/only fix being to delete app and start over. galaxy s9 plus. i download almost every movie i own (>100) and have never had a problem until recently. While downloading any video, app stops downloading (mobile or wifi). The usual fixes, reset cache, network, phone, etc do not work. Plenty of storage on my sd card! Customer service could not help, only giving me the usual steps. the only option: delete the app. 3rd time in 1 week.


the app broke my phone. tried to load a movie from my library. it got stuck, with the loading circle going round for about 5mins. phone wouldn't respond, then screen turned black and hasn't worked since. Bought a new phone, downloaded the app and it keeps disabling itself. It's not showing up in my list of downloaded apps and can only access if online.


There are movies listed in the app from other services such as Hulu or Prime. 90% of the time I click to watch it on another platform, it is never the same movie. For example, "Get Hard" with Ferrell & Hart is listed on Prime. After clicking to watch on that app, it shows a foreign film about a guy with an errection or something.


Keeps stopping, and says unfortunately google play has stopped, but can still hear sound track. This is on my new tablet, so i tried it on my Samsung S8+, and it worked ok. What is going on here , come on Google sort this out, paying for films and not being able to watch them on my tablet, which i bought for this, as it has a bigger screen.


The Google Play Movies & TV store official app is beautiful, amazing, informative, impressive, comprehensive, and offers rights to DRM-protected content (Digital Rights Management) that is current, premium, top of the line, and state-of-the-art at reasonable, inexpensive prices that are sometimes even promoted during a sale and/or in-app advertised promotion at an even further reduced, enticing price. If a title is not available on Netflix, I prefer to search here and/or my local public library.


Info Cards, Rotten Tomatoes scores ๐Ÿ…, and great customer service from Google has made my experience good. I don't often watch movies or TV shows but when I do I check out what's on this app. They have pretty much everything could be looking for.


I have been charged 18 times on my card for a movie rental. The movie did not play but i am getting charged after every 2 mins. I have also removed the card from my account but im still getting charged for it. What kind of joke is this?? Please arrange to refund the money charged immediately and make sure that Google, who themselves owns Android, is able to resolve this bug


Worthless.....every update ruins another thing. Latest update makes closed caption the default on every single show every show that starts...Closed caption must be shut off manually each and every time...most people aren't deaf...and most people don't want closed caption. Thanks for messing that up you Harvard grads at Google! Also..."binge watch" feature no longer works....hell of an update!!!... Nothing works better...and at leas5 2 things now messed up..keep up the good work!...


What did you do google? Both online and the app show the special feature as their own tiles! And there doesnt appear to be any way to make them go away. Please give me the option to not see special feature as tiles in my main library. being able to filter/sort/create folders would be fantastic and a seriously long overdue enhancement. It is now even harder to find my movies than it had been, now i have to try to find them in a sea of 234 tiles?


Well the app for movies are really nice but the only thing is that within the last few days I have been experiencing Lag and alot of it movies won't load the home screen isn't loading either, but eventually after 5 minutes or a few reboots it will work fine or I just give up on watching movies I really hope this isn't going to keep up with the slow load times


Worst movie app so far if i could give it a half star or no star review i would. Rented a movie and wasnt able to watch it because there was no image. The audio was playing along with subtitles but there was nothing to watch just a black screen. Might have well just downloaded and audio book instead. And to top it off havnt gotten a refund


I've had this app for years and have always loved it, but now I am having serious problems with the new update. I always have to turn off the captions and the movies and shows I have deleted keep popping back in my library. Also, it is obvious that my preferences are not saving. Blah, bummer:(


Awful. It pops up ads for games and other options all the time. It happens in the middle of texting, while trying to post on FB, even when I haven't touched my phone for a while it just comes alive with a sample of some loud stupid game. I hate it and I am afraid to uninstall it because it says it could corrupt other files or something.


I love my library, but this AND Hulu STILL didn't work on my LG Stylo 2v! These apps suddenly froze after several seconds, ruined my Netflix app, and even locked my phone so I had to reboot it! I've tried EVERYTHING suggested (even with offline downloads in this app): changing the resolution, clearing my RAM (which is only 2GB) in developer options, a factory reset last August, the steps given by Google support, even uninstalling Hulu -- NOTHING ever worked! Was my phone actually defective?


Rented spider man far from home and only got to watch it once. Total waste and rip off. Won't be using it again. Support section is an endless loop of suggestions that didn't apply to my situation and when I did write a report I hear nothing back except ' thanks for your feedback '.


This app USED to be four stars (five of it had filters and sorting of Watch list). But they got rid of the Top Banner and Andriod notifications when watch list Movies were added to a new provider. Half the reason of this app was so you knew when your Saved Movies came on a provider like Hulu, Tubi, etc. Now the app is mostly useless for provider tracking so I'll use Reelgood instead.


I don't know what happened to this app but everytime I stream my purchased movies, the colors are extremely washed up now. The resolution is fine, but the colors are just awful. Avengers infinity wars colors are extremely faded compared to the Netflix version. All the other streaming apps work well and have decent to vibrant colors. I can't be renting or buying from Google play movies until the movies I bought show improved quality.


First time using google play for a movie rental and was very disappointed. Rented Godzilla on my Samsung smart tv. Paid extra for UHD and the picture is horrible. The play back also doesnt use true black for the top and bottom black bars for widescreen, looks a dingy grey. I'll stick to my microsoft movie viewing with a much better experience.


Really not good, they seem to have given up on it. This app has not improved in ages and got worse a few weeks ago when closed caption started being turned on when playing a movie/show despite disabling them in settings (on all my devices). Also missing some basic features like only displaying the downloaded episodes in a serie/season.


When it works it's good but so often has issues. Especially with downloading. As it right now I need to basically manually control the download by both keeping my phone unlocked, the app open and regularly switching between the exact movie/show I'm downloading and the overall list so I can actually make sure its downloading. Everything else gives a failure to download notice


Movies I paid for, I can't watch except in very limited contexts, set by Google and very buggy where internet is spotty or off. VERY much less value than buying a DVD, though significantly more expensive... And the app can't seem to keep itself installed and enabled, unless there really is an update that I just can't see...


It used to work great, now in the middle of a movie that I have already purchased, it will stop and say it is having trouble fetching the license. This never used to happen. I don't know what to do. :-(


Awesome. But sorting needs a fix it arranges them inaccurately if they are released in the same year. Also the them being put in ascending order is a bit of a bug would like to see them from oldest release to oldest


I HATE THIS APP!!! AHH it's the worst. It freezes when you have it in offline mode and want to watch a movie. I'm on a god damn pixel book and any movie or tv show that I haven't finished, or want to skip forward gives me a "error". 8/21/2019 Update- Still sucks! I got this super fancy pixel book and the app keeps crashing on startup. BUT IT'S OK GOOGLE, I DIDN"T WANT TO WATCH MOVIES ON MY FLIGHT. I will, always, tell people to stay away from google prodcuts. They can't afford a QA person.


Unable to open after 2019-09-21 update Edit: the instructions didn't work and I'm not interested in bug testing your app with a Google specialist. I did find a way to rent a movie through the Google Play app and play it from there. But every time I try to open Google movies directly it shows the splash screen and then crashes


App was working fine before, since update though it no longer plays next episode automatically, arnt updates suppose to make apps better? I have to keep uninstalling it to the base version in order to use this optimally, really disappointed and you should be in yourselves since this is your flagship on demand media app.


On a laptop it opens up in a new window with no address bar and no cast button. Ended up disabling this app and just running Play Store movies straight from the regular browser (no app) to use the cast from Chrome. Pretty irrelevant app, seems more trouble than it's worth.


What possessed you to list movie extras separate from the movies themselves? Now I have like 100 listings for The Last Jedi clogging up my library and I can't tell what is what without tapping into the listing. Not to mention that playback defaults to having closed captions for absolutely no reason and cannot be changed, or the fact that there are certain titles where "Remove from device" randomly doesn't work. This app is a complete embarassment and an utter joke.


Works on app doesn't work on computer. Followed multiple instructions and still does not play the movie on my computer. Its right there listed, but it will switch to the trailer and ONLY play the trailer. For a huge company where you are making a purchase platform you should have CALL CENTER for help like itunes. Wasted money


This app is so buggy now. Closed captions wont turn off, some episodes wont play. Very unreliable app. I've bought over 13 seasons of the Simpsons and 20 movies. Nobody seems to know what to do or will help me. Very frustrating to say the least. Please FIX this app!!!


This was great app until you couldn't use screen mirroring and now they are forcing you to use chromecast or their approve devices. I paid money for the content and should be able to watch it any I pleased.


The app keeps crashing and saying there was a error when ever i try and play a movie usually about every 5 min when i play the movie again. Please find a way to fix this i love this app and i have baught alot of movies here i dont want to have to stop using this app


I have joined my SD card and internal memory into one so I can send apps to the SD card. Google play movies doesn't let me download movies I purchased to my SD card because it thinks my SD card is "internal memory" Please update to fix I would really like to download


Unable to switch between accounts. Even after an uninstall and reinstall it just automatically signs me in without even allowing me to put in a different account making my previous purchases useless unless I link that account to my phone, which I don't want to do.


No queue. Can't download purchased content outside of app. Often loses sync with Chromecast making me disconnect and reconnect with perfect wifi signal. UI does a pretty good job of hiding my library.
