Try the free Family Link parental controls app from Google. Whether your children are young or in their teens, the Family Link app lets you remotely set digital ground rules from your own device to help guide them as they learn, play and explore online. For children under the age of 13 (or the
), Family Link also lets you create a Google Account for your child that's like your account, with access to most Google services.
With Family Link parental controls, you can:
• View their app activity − Not all screen time is the same. Help your child make healthy decisions about what they do on their Android device, with activity reports showing how much time they’re spending on their favourite apps. You can monitor their usage with daily, weekly or monthly reports.
• Manage their apps − Handy notifications let you approve or block apps that your child wants to download from the Google Play Store. You can also manage in-app purchases, and hide specific apps on their device, all with remote access from your own device.
• Set limits − It’s up to you to decide the right amount of screen time for your child. Family Link lets you set time limits and a bedtime for their supervised devices, so you can help them find a good balance.
• Lock their device - Whether it’s time to go and play outside, have dinner or just spend time together, you can remotely lock a supervised device whenever it’s time to take a break.
• It’s helpful to be able to see your kids' location when they’re on the go. You can use Family Link to help locate them as long as they’re carrying their Android smartphone, tablet or other devices.
• Family Link’s tools vary depending on your child’s device. See a list of compatible devices at families.google.com/familylink/setup
• While Family Link helps you manage your child's purchases and downloads from Google Play, they will not need approval to install app updates (including updates that expand permissions), apps that you have previously approved or apps that have been shared in the Family Library. Parents should regularly review their child’s installed apps and app permissions in Family Link.
• You should carefully review the apps on your child’s supervised device and disable those that you don’t want them to use. Note that you may not be able to disable some pre-installed apps.
• To see the location of your child's or teenager's device, it must be powered on, recently active and connected to the Internet.
• While Family Link provides tools to manage your child’s online experience, it does not make the Internet safe. Rather, it is intended to give parents choices about how their children use the Internet, and encourage conversations about Internet use.

Thanks for this app, I find it useful. One thing you need to fix is the fact that my 10 yr old can find a way to unlock his tablet whenever he wants by putting on random numbers until it unlocks. I don't see the point in having time limits and bed time schedule if he can do that. My work around is to block all the apps on the device then unblock to let him use, which can be a pain.

Love this app! Makes it so easy to supervise what my little one is doing, as well as what she has access to... In this day and age, with just about EV-ER-Y one toting a smart phone, it feels nearly impossible to protect her, but thanks to my Family Link I can at least have some control over what she's doing on her phone...

there's a lot to unpack here. i once had this app, i was the child. i was about 11 years old when i had it, now I'm 13. let me just say that the "under 13 rule" is garbage. children under that age will NOT have access to regular YouTube, instead they will automatically receive YouTube kids, which sucks by the way. imagine being a mature 12 year old, looking for good youtubers, and the only thing you're allowed to watch is cocomelon. it deletes your channel and Google account. awful.

I have been struggling this app for days, just to create a google account for my child. It says "You cannot create a Google Account because you do not meet the minimum age requirement." 😯😤 Obviously I am using Family Link because I want to create account for a child!! And FYI, I have not access to "Send feedback" section of app becuase I've got stoped in "before you start" section and no settings or three-line or three-dot UI element is not visible there.

Horrible. Not only does this limit my child's actions on his OWN account. But annoys me, because every time he has to do something meaningless such as searching word definitions. I still have to give permission. This is an app for control freaks, at this point I heavily regret not telling my son to place a fake age instead. this is the most horrendous and terrible function in the history of android. I do not want to have my son limited whenever using his phone.
