I got the app using a code, which is valid for 2 years only (this should be noted somewhere), from the physical dict purchase. The interface is snappy and clean. Many entries have contextual usages. However, the degree of details varies from entry to entry and some are just lazy one-liners. The gender of the nouns is not included and voice aloud is not available for German words ("Baum" doesn't even come with phonetic). Plural forms are available but require a separate search.

This is a very useful resource, but it's quite basic, with few examples of usage, and there are omissions, inconsistencies and oversights. Most annoyingly, the plural form of a noun is sometimes not given, even if the plural is irregular.

Langenscheit is respected so I paid a lot with high expectations. Content may be great but the user interface is the worst by far of any of the dictionaries I've got. What little it offers is geared towards German speakers, it is dismal in the opposite direction. Langenscheit tell me to seek a refund from playstore. Playstore tells me to seek a refund from the developers. I gave it several weeks hoping I'd get used to the interface. I did not. I expect I won't get my money back. Don't buy this app, and don't waste your time with the supposedly free introduction. It does not enable you to assess the app without buying it.

After installing, the app shows that you need to pay. I click on Try option, type in 'einsetzen' and it tells me that I need to pay for that word. Waste of time.

Often with many useful examples showing the different meaning of a word in different contexts. 4 stars because of the ridiculous demo mode - better provide full functionality for a limited time or number of queries. Users should know before installing the app, that you actually can't use it without paying a decent amount of money. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your work and I am willing to pay (actually bought the pro dictionary), but you are creating wrong expectations with the app being flagged as free. I guess much of the bad rating is caused by this confusion. Also when starting the app, there is no reason to ask which dictionary to use. No idea, if upgrading the dictionary from basic, to pro, to expert is possible. Would be nice. Perhaps I should have installed the pro app instead of this one with the pro dictionary which seems to offer a slightly different set of features. How could I know? Conclusion: great dictionary suffering from some awkward product management and UI decisions.

The Basic version has plural form and it's cheaper. This version, which is supposed to be better in terms of content, does not feature plural form - and doesn't make it clear before purchase. I'm willing to buy the pro version but I'd like to refund this one, as plural form is massively important to the language.
