Du Chinese is a Mandarin reading app which lets you quickly look up the translation of any word or sentence with a simple tap. The lessons include English translations for both words and sentences, and have full human voice recordings which are synchronized with the text. The word translations are context-dependent to give you the word's meaning in the current sentence. Really great app for learning Mandarin. Has traditional characters as well, which for those of us in sovereign Taiwan is great! Can also practicing listening, and save vocab words. The only downside is if you don't star the lessons you're working on, it's easy to lose them after a few days (there's no search functionality).

Thank you very much...it's the best app ever for learning Chinese....I have tried too many apps but this is the most professional and helpful one ....you can lessen to the dialogue first one with English to get the story then lessen again with the Chinese characters and again with pinyin all available at the same time....thank you sokoto much for your great efforts

If you use this as a companion app to something more structured it is absolutely incredible. It works very well as long as it's not your only way of learning Chinese. To the developers: If you could add a random story button with filters for the level, that would be much appreciated.
