Ismul  isim  asma’ yang artinya Nama, Al-a’zhom yang artinya Maha Agung.

Seperti halnya Asmaul Husnah, ismul A’zhom juga sangat terkenal dalam amalan doa kaum muslimin. Sebab telah diriwayatkan dari Rasulullah SAW bahwa barang siapa berdoa dengan menyebut Ismul a’zhom niscaya doanya akan dikabulkan.

Nabi Shalallahu alaihi wa sallam mendengar seorang laki-laki berdoa: “Ya Allah, aku memohon kepada-Mu, sesungguhnya aku bersaksi bahwa Engkau adalah Allah, yang tidak ada Tuhan selain Engkau, Yang Esa, Yang menjadi tempat bergantung segala sesuatu, yang tidak beranak dan tidak diperanakan, dan yang tidak ada sesuatu pun yang setara denganNYA.”

Lantas Nabi shalallahu alaihi wa sallam berkata: “engkau telah memohon kepada Allah dengan isim A’zhom, yang jika dipakai untuk memohon niscaya akan diberi, dan bila dipakai untuk berdoa niscaya akan dikabulkan.” (HR. Abu Daud, Attirmidzi, Ibnu Majah, Ibnu Hibban, Alhakim dari Abdullah bin Buraidah ra)

Dari shahabat Abu Tholhah ra, katanya: Rasulullah SAW mendatangi seorang laki-laki, yang ketika itu sedang berdoa: “Ya Allah, sesungguhnya aku memohon kepada Mu bahwa hanya bagiMu segala pujian, tidak ada tuhan selain Engkau, Yang Maha Pengasih lagi Maha Pemberi karunia, Pencipta langit dan bumi, Yang memiliki Keagungan dan kemuliaan”

Lantas Rasulullah SAW berkata: “Sungguh dia telah memohon kepada Allah dengan isim a’dhom yang jika dipakai berdoa dengannya niscaya akan dikabulkan dan jika dipakai untuk memohon dengannya niscaya akan diberi.

Then the Prophet of Allaah alaihi wa sallam said: "you have to ask God to isim A'zhom, which if used to invoke undoubtedly will be given, and when used to pray undoubtedly will be granted." (HR. Abu Daud, Attirmidzi, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibban, from Abdullah bin Buraidah Alhakim ra)

Of Companions Abu Tholhah ra, he said: the Prophet went to a man, who was being prayed: "O Allah, I plead with thee that only to You all the praise, there is no god but Thee, the Most Gracious, the Most Giving gifts Creator of the heavens and earth, Who has the grandeur and glory "

Then the Prophet said: "Indeed he had begged God with isim a'dhom which if used to pray with him undoubtedly will be granted and if used to beg him will undoubtedly be given.
