Reviews From google play store

Fantastic app. Ads are not in your face, only a tiny banner at the bottom of your screen while setting the brightness. Goes away when you use your phone normally. I love to use this to dim down my S4 to way darker than it can natively go. Perfect for games and internet browsing before bed or in a dark place, like a movie theatre. Simple to use. I love the blue light filter. Highly recommended.

I tried a few dimmers before this one but besides filtering out blue light (can do in the s8s screen display settings) they didn't help much. This app allows you to dim your screen significantly below the phone's lowest setting. I'd say the s8s 0 brightness with blue filtering on is still like a 30 or more on the easy slider that appears for this app.

This is perfect, and I'd give it five stars if it weren't for one thing. The app doesn't dim the backlight or the notification bar for my Google Pixel XL. I don't know if that's true for all phones or just mine but I'd appreciate an update for this. If not, still a great app. FOUR STARS!

Dimly did exactly what I needed; however, I had an other than normal situation in how I use this particular device. I encountered a minor issue and reached out to the developer. He was very fast with a suggestion, which worked, and even linked in an article on how to make the change to another setting on my tablet which solved my unique issue. Good product, responsive and helpful developer. Thanks.

full of bugs goes on randomly silently, need to clear data, stay away! screen filter was better. (no help option in the app, instead there's a rate button but takes to an outside link, (to fool us in rating not on the market...))

Overall love it. My ONLY complaint is that the notification bar does not dim and it's quite jarring to go from the lovely dim light to checking the notifications. (Especially at 3:30 am, which is when I downloaded it because I can't sleep!) Seems easy to use and I like the simple interface. Update the notification situation, and 5 stars A+ review from me! Thanks for creating!

OK I was going to give this app a 5 star rating but then I remembered that I sat at the movies last night for a while after having installed it trying to figure out how to exit the app because it had completely blanked out my screen. Maybe it does the job a little too well! So far so good since I have been struggling for a long time with the brightness of my screen. I highly recommend the app after less than 24hours of installing it.

I love this app so much! I always have it on, and the dim light is much easier on my eyes. My only complaint is, since the last update the app has been constantly crashing. The only thing worse than a bright screen is having it flicker between bright and nicely dim. I look forward to an updated version which doesn't crash anymore.

Worst spend of $2.50 ever. Stay with the free version. I upgraded to have auto start and stop, but those features are not working at all. Nonetheless, I have tried several dimmer/blue light filter apps. This is the simplest, least obtrusive, most effective of them all.

It says what it does, and is simply and intelligently designed. Really, though—ad banners? In an app that dims your screen? is commercialism and greed everyone's orientation now? (Sorry if I'm being redundant there, BTW.)

A useful tool if you are looking to controll screen brightness to the fullest. However, the bluelight function lacks any controls or settings. The thing that irritates me the most about the notification bar setting is you cannot adjust the brightness within the notification bar, you have to select "dimly", the notification bar then closes, and you are confronted with a pop-up that THEN allows you to adjust the brightness. Improve the notification bar option and add a widget please. If this were changed I wouldn't hesitate to give this application a full five stars!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the SHAKE TO RESTORE BRIGHTNESS option if you happen to go outside, for example, and can't see the screen anymore.. honestly, that alone is why this is the screen dimmer app that I use. The only reason its not getting 5 stars is because the notification panel and the soft keys on the screen don't dim as well (although the preview photos show that they do). However, I'd def change my rating in a heartbeat if the developers would make that adjustment. Thanks for the awesome app!

The dimmer my phone comes with is still too bright at night, even on it's dimmest setting. Not only does Dimly lower the brightness A LOT more, it also filters out much more blue light. I've only been using a few days, but I haven't had any issues with it.

This app is perfect for a simple screen dimmer/blue light filter. It's small, non invasive and doesn't seem to interfere with the operating system. I've had it for weeks now and haven't noticed any problems.

Does exactly what it says it will. Dims your screen when in use. Doesn't eat up battery life or push ads in your face, there's a simple neat banner at the bottom when you adjust the backlight and then you don't see ads until the next time you adjust. My only issue is that sometimes when I use it I hear a voice in my head telling me to check under the bed? Not sure how that's possible. Great app, would definitely recommend for people like me who read ebooks on their phones at night or look at old messages wondering where they went wrong. Linda, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Can you just give me another chance?

I was constantly squinting at my screen at night saying all sorts of bad things mentally to Samsung as to why their screen brightness doesnt go lower than the blazing lights of heaven. This saves my eyes and is incredibly simple! As a tech kiddie I applaud this app <3

super effective app!!! helps a ton if your eyes hurt a lot and want to not get caught using your phone at night like me. just a minor setback, ometimes as im using my phone, dimly will suddenly stop working and my screen will go bright again foe about a minute, and then dimly will turn back on. ive checked all the setting and the timer is off and the shake is even turned off. please help!!! thank you

i use this because i get migraines. it works very well, and is simple. I think if they wanted to be super awesome, they could make it so that this can be an icon in the pull down menu, like data, airplane mode, blue light filter, WiFi, etc. but it's already great, and i don't think you can do that anyway.

Doomly... Failed to reset normal brightness at preset time on 2 different phones. Even purchased the full version and it failed. Instructions were clear... Simply did not work and left me in the dark! Sorry but there is something wrong.

Lately it's started to ntermittently break, flashing back to a bright screen then back to dark, especially when using my browser (Firefox). Defeats the purpose. The shake function doesn't work on my LG K20 plus. And it doesn't go dark enough. Time to find something better.

Kept my phone from blinding me at night. Though you should adjust to bright if you'll be using your phone in the sun. The lowest setting will make your screen black in the brightness of day. As long as you anticipate this, its a great app for nighttime users.

Hey ,I need your help please, I have been using this app in my cell phone, last night I made the dim light setting at zero, and my screen got black. Now it's not showing any thing. My phone screen is just blank black. I am on brother's cell right now. Please help me to remove my app or setting .

Does what it's supposed to do & freely i might add. Doesn't bombard you with too many adds interfering with app function like most free apps of any type do. Honestly it's a pretty impressive app, no gimmicks, simple & to the point. I've lost track of how long I've even been using this app it's been so long. Which is awesome in my opinion. I would recommend it to any/everyone.

Used it for a while and enjoyed it, so I went and paid for the pro version, which costed $2, because it opens up one feature. Only one. You can suddenly set a time for dimly to start automatically. But it didn't work. So 1 star for $2 down the drain.

really makes your phone easier on the eyes, not even mentioning how much more battery life you can get out of it. So simple. My one gripe is not being able to control it from the lock screen, but I'm still gonna rate 5 stars

if you haven't tried this yet, do your night vision a big favor and use Dimly. No ads constantly wasting your screen time. One touch to turn on and dim, power icon to switch it back off. Adjustable brightness level, simple and does the job withoht fuss. Blue light reduction is good, but please add an adjustable control to customize the blue level please. Sometimes normal color rendering is important when viewing or editing photos/videos, but you can reset it when you are finished.

I bought this app so I could set the start and stop time, but, unfortunately it doesn't work. I've been using it a few days, and it is yet to start / stop at the time I've set, rather I've to do so manually, which can be achieved with the free version. Therefore I would advise using the free app; I don't recommend purchase.

I have been using this app for nearly two years now since my LG L Bello is too bright to use at night and makes my eyes burn. Haven't had any issues, highly recommend. Does the job!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I don't know if THIS is the only APP that IS AD-LESS, and with no real sys. req., but it's the only one I've ever found. It's the Best! One suggestion, give a link to the paid version -front and center on the free version, I had trouble finding it.(...but I'm probably an idiot😉). Thanks again! 🌾

At first it was great, very simple it did what I wanted but then when I when on the setting to put it darker, the screen when completely gray. I was confused so I restarted my tablet and then my screen was fine . But I got a notification that says "SD card is damaged" but tried to use the app again and it turned the screen grey again. This app ruined my SD card so yeah not the greatest experience

This app is wonderful because it is extremely easy to use and makes reading on the bus less of a hassle. XD I would recommend this to anyone that has problems with the amount of light produced by their phone screen. Personally, I have bad headaches and this really helps. >^~^<

My nephew likes to sleep on me. I'm wide awake and my phone is my only entertain. Although with the regular phone brightness going all the way down. It is still bright enough to have my nephew open his eyes and be alert. Babies love the light. This app turn the brightness down just right! I'm using it now. I don't have to worry about holding my phone away from the baby anymore!

Why I LOVE: Doesn't provoke urge to slam your head in desk drawer due to overwhelming pre-use instructions... Simply open the app and click the user-friendly controls. When you have time (ha!) to play around, the app provides you fine-tuning functionality levels. I $ the Pro version and consider it fab purchase. GREAT JOB, DEVS!!

Simple and I love the fact that you can turn it off. However, it tends to stick when moving the slider and there is a portion on the top of my screen that doesn't get dim. I have a galaxy s8 and I would love a fix pls!

Update, i upgraded to Pro and the auto start stop works intermittently on a good day and on a bad it auto starts in the middle of the day. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no improvement. I spend too much time fighting this app now. Do not recommend and will likely uninstall.

This is a really good app, does was it says, and I haven't found any problems except one but it isn't exactly a problem but more of a complaint. The brightness goes too dark at the lowest setting. Like, pitch black, can't even see in pitch darkness enviroment, dark. And if you accidentally put it to this setting, you're gonna one hell of a fun time. I just spent an hour of guessing where the dimly notification from swiping and tapping, hoping Im turning the brightness up. Other than that slight problem, everything seems to work. If you're looking to go dark, this is your app.

Does what I want it to do. My moto z2 force's lowest setting for brightness is way too bright. This app helps me turn it down to something I can deal with in my bedroom with the lights off at night time.

This did exactly what I needed thank you just wish I could set a timer for auto shut off that way when I wake up and turn on my phone in the morning I can see the screen still. Because if I use it at night and if I forget to turn it off when I go to bed I can't see when I wake up and half the time can't figure out why. Maybe you could tell it to turn off at 7 or something

So i liked the app at first but then my phone started to get way too heated. Maybe its because i have other apps too, but the second i turned dimly off my phone cooled down :P

I love this simple app. Only problem is that dimming the screen increases the brightness of the top bar icons and notifications when pulled open. It's an extremely jarring contrast that I think is a bug, but hasn't been updated.
