Coronalert aims at breaking the infection chains: the app tells you when you may have come into contact with someone who has subsequently received a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. The application serves as a digital complement to social distance, hygiene and mask wearing. It uses Bluetooth technology and Apple/Google exposure notification APIs. However, it does not collect personal information at any time. Who you are and where you are remains secret - and your privacy is well protected.

HOW THE APPLICATION WORKS
Every time you leave the house, you activate the exposure recording function - this is the heart of the application. When enabled, smartphones exchange encrypted random identifiers with other devices using Bluetooth.
Random identifiers only provide information about the duration and distance of an encounter. No one can identify the person behind the random IDs. The Coronalert App does not collect any information about the location of the encounter or the location of its users.
Depending on the maximum incubation times of coronaviruses, the random identifiers that your device collects, are stored in an exposure log for 14 days and then deleted. If a person is diagnosed with COVID-19 and chooses to share the random IDs from their own device, then all previously encountered persons will be notified anonymously. No one will know when, where or with whom the exposure occurred. The infected person remains anonymous.
In addition to exposure notifications, affected users will receive clear recommendations for action.
Important: Information about the persons notified is not accessible at all times.

HOW TO ENSURE DATA SECURITY
The Coronalert App is designed to be your everyday companion, without knowing your identity. Data protection is 100% guaranteed for the lifetime of the app and for all functions.
- No registration required: No email addresses or names are to be submitted.
- No conclusions about identities: When you meet another person using the application, your smartphones exchange only random identifiers.
- Decentralized storage: Data is stored only on the smartphone itself and deleted after 14 days.
- No access by third parties: Neither the person who reports a proven COVID-19 infection nor the persons who have been notified, can be traced - neither by the federal government, Sciensano, another user, nor Google.
Coronalert App is the main COVID-19 application for Belgium, where it is interconnected with the national healthcare system (Sciensano). It is intended for anyone living or working in Belgium, being on holiday in the country or visiting Belgium regularly or for a long period of time.

The app clearly "knows" useful information: when you had a risky contact, how long, ... It only chooses not to tell you. Making it a waste of screenspace.

Solution seems to side-load a more recent version, which seems to work. | 2021-01-05: From 5* to 1* (12-2020): after only 2 months since the start of Coronalert BE app, the app is *no longer compatible* with some smartphone(s) running Android 9. This certainly doesn't help the adoption of the Coronalert BE app...

One of the worst apps I've seen. It's a shame after a year and a half of the pandemic, that we are still at this level of buggyness. Try to add your test to the app? Need to click a link in an sms, opens in an iframe in the app, crashes the first few times, asks if you did the test because of the app ( shouldn't you know this??). Try to get your test result? Shows result, close the app, open, test results are gone.. "no results yet". Such huge potential, totally wasted by this app.

Really? You want Access to our phone with the app? And if we don't do this with the automatic updates you want us to log in every single day to update?? Haha bye bye ... I read enough lies from you... You could easily send the results by mail but there is something else going on there...

Android 12 incompatible. After upgrading to Android 12 on my S21 5G the app will not open and crashes everytime.

Easy to use, only notifies you if you were in contact with someone who said they have covid on the app so it's not 100% reliable. Still better than nothing!

Why can't I run this app on a Sony Xperia XZ1 with android Pie 9? It runs version 1.8.2 but I can't no longer update? On my Sony XA1 with Oreo 8, I was able to update to 1.13.1, which is running OK? The app-builder pointed to Google Android, and Google points towards the app-builder. Maybe Google and the app-builder will take their responsibility if this goes on Facebook, Twitter and other news media?

Again, since the 10th of November the update of the logging is not working AGAIN...

Update of the logs has been restored since this morning November 15, 2021 09:11. Thank you!

My system UI crashed no less than 7 times just trying to get the app set up. And then I'm expected to trust that everyone actually has this app installed, and everyone is always carrying their phone on their bodies, and everyone always has their Bluetooth on, and everyone has immediately marked themselves as tested positive on this app (because apparently the qr doesn't work anyway)? Seems more than a bit farfetched to me. This app is only giving people a false sense of security in my opinion..
