Reviews From google play store

Although in many respects this is an excellent and comprehensive app, it also has some very irritating aspects. If, for whatever reason, you decide to change the planned route the app cannot adjust and simply perseveres with the old route, unlike, say, a satnav which will recalculate in real time. Also, the app is ridiculously specific about whether you've arrived at your destination or not - I've sometimes been literally yards away from where I'm going, but the app refuses to accept it.

I love using CityMapper because not only does it having the floating icon. But it gives me the exact destination to get off at and when to catch the bus and what time I will get to where I need to be. It should tell me the fare of the bus I am taking so I don't have to worry about that part. But it's so uncluttered! It's better than Transit and Moovit in so many ways. I love using the app more and more everyday.

This app is more powerful than Google maps. It shows you all modes of transportation (bus, mini bus, tram, ferry, cycle, light rail) on top of the standard (walk, MTR, uber) It even tells you which section of the MTR is best for your journey. It knows when the MTR closes and it knows when you're about to arrive at your destination.

Used in WA, DC . We were from a small town in the West. Helped us to navigate the the big city, find Restaurants and even play a video game. Suggested transportation options we had never seen before. We would pop up from a suggested metro stop and citymapper would get us to our final destinstion. Liked the fact that we could use it before we even got to DC to plan our itinerary.

Used it in London. Now Paris. It sure shows more data than Google Maps. Useless but cute things like calories spent if walking is chosen. Otherwise, the results are identical. Initial review: Quite useful in the big city, useless outside of it. Also, quite strange, the position on the virtual map is always more vague on the same device as on Google maps. I was quite often one street away and had to switch to Google. The only plus over Google is the estimated fare cost. Everything else is below.

Used to rely heavily on this app for getting round London but now the information is incorrect as often as it is right, which makes it too unreliable to be of any use. I'd rather just choose a route and submit to chance than turn up expecting a bus or train that doesn't exist, or just miss one that was never mentioned. Incredibly frustrating.

This app is so good that I'm truly sorry for the people traveling to London that are unaware of it. I was terrified of the London transport system, but after my friend showed me this app I was literally giving out instructions to other tourists the same evening. It could be better by expanding it with legends for different symbols, some additional explanation for the pricing and ticket payment as well as maybe tracking your expenses and journeys taken, but that would just be icing on the cake.

Updated 10-2-2019 I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I still looooove Citymapper. I use it almost every day. And many times a day. Works great, fast, good options, pretty easy to use, etc. One big improvement. Please make Citymapper for my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Watch. I have tried several other transit apps for the watch and they suck. One app keeps saying can't connect to server and it is slow. So, I have no working transit app on my watch at least that is fast and reliable.

it is very inconvenient not to have options for choosing one means of transport, i.e. buses only or tube only. Also, it does not give an option for less walking or rain free routes in a city where rain is a daily encounter. Also, there should be a clear option for cycling routes which need a lot improvements. The only thing that makes me keep the app is, unlike the misleading Google Maps, the accurate times for buses and trains.

I emailed you on the 2nd October and some 10days before that about the Citymapper app not giving information on the bus route 466 (London) between stops Hambleton Road and the Tudor Rose where there is no information on the bus times for the 466 although other bus times (404) are shown. No reply has been received and I am most disappointed by the lack of a response to what has been a very good app but is now sadly failing.

Absolutely brilliant App. Downloaded it recently as a back up whilst visiting London. Found ourselves using it almost religiously the whole week. When our planned trip to tour Buckingham Palace was nearly ruined by a cancelled tube train, this app was not only right up to date with the cancellation, it also gave us instant alternative options. 15 minutes later we were at the Palace like their hadn't been any panic. Recommend it 100% to anyone..

Works fine as long as the trains are running ok, but the journey planner doesn't quite seem to understand that you can't catch a cancelled train - so when your journey is disrupted, you can't use the app to find an alternative route.

Absolutely great app . So useful so helpful & very important to have. Every day I use it to check bus times and if I need to be somewhere it never fails to direct me . I've been using this for years now. Its absolutely worth 5 stars. Thank you

A truly fantastic app. I used it in Hong Kong for recent holiday and don't think I could have got around anywhere near as well without it. It integrates all transport modes and timetables superbly to plan journeys. I can't recommend highly enough.

Too good to be true. Every week being charged for "incomplete journey". First card they send me didn't work and it took few attempts to tap on the card reader while queue has been building behind me at the gate. Second card is opening the gates for me but not registering my taps. After checking journey history I discovered that every single week I was charged extra 8.20! TFL doesn't care and sending me back to City Mapper. City mapper never reply to my emails. Sweet.

Invaluable aid for getting when on holiday from the UK to get about and saves so much time. Got the correct subway trains each time, which you really need to use to get about. Updates your position in real time without any prior configuration, even on the subway.

First used in Paris, where was recommended. Now home in Vancouver, is 'go to' app. Only downside, routing to walk in not good in real time. No indication of when to turn left or right.

Amazing app. Even tells you which part of the train is best to get on and entrances and exits to use. The only sad part is how few cities are covered. But if where you are going is covered this is a must

Precise, Compact and Accurate. Can't ask for more from a travel guide application. Eliminates the need for at least 3 applications upon every travel. Job well done. Dark Mode would be welcome.

This app told me this morning that there's severe delay on one line but once I got to the station there was no delay at all. Useless app giving out false information, and the map for walking distance is terrible. I'll stick to using Google maps.

Best app for its purpose. However they need to fix the stop locations on the map, good way to start this fix is to allow users to report issues with stop locations. Then start the fix from from most requested, easy 👌.

great precision. unfortunately it sometimes gives you the wrong location as to where to wait for the bus. Would probably be better if the app understood that pedestrians and cars don't go the same place, thanks for wasting my time

This app is great! Without it I wouldn't know how I was going to travel the busy London streets. It shows exactly the arriving times of buses, which is great! Thank you!

Absolutely fantastic and useful app. Accurate directions and ETA estimates. I travel in NYC for work every year and wouldn't be able to navigate as efficiently and easily without Citymapper.

Can't delete my card/payment methods. It's a really basic function and I don't feel comfortable knowing that the developers are keeping data I don't want to share anymore.

Unrivalled volume of accurate & reliable info which amazingly is all free! I mean no fee, no adverts! Hard to believe, I know. One of my most favourite Apps of all times. 👍👍🥇

It's a really good app. But please add a way to add a travelcard ownership so I can see accurate costs. All trips are free in zones one and two for me, for example.

I love this app. I just wish there were audio directions for when we use the bike and can't check the ways.

Not as useful as it could be. It's fine for next departures, but when I get directions, I want the option to choose less walking, bus only, etc. The other day, it wanted me to walk 16 minutes at the end of the trip instead of showing the transfer time for another bus that stops three minutes from where I wanted to go. I now have to use two different apps to get the info I need since 511 discontinued providing the info on their web site .

Very detailed instructions for getting where you want to go as well as being easy to use. Was very useful in London.

I wanted a step by step app: This is it! It tells you the best ways to get around NYC and what the time differences are.

One of the best apps available for local commutes. Recently though, I've not been able to share my trajectory with others.

I work all around London in random places 24/7, and this is a key app for my everyday commute. Best and most used app in my phone hands down.

Best app to move around on any city. Quite well engineered, smooth experience and impressive compass and location accuracy.

Got this error "cant share route. Please check your connection "whilst trying to share directions. Unsure what is happening as such case rarely occur

Great app but can't Alton be added to the search area? Plenty of people commute between Alton and Waterloo.

Rubbish!!! This app used to be really good back in the days but now it's a total failure. Everytime it gets the times wrong on district line!! I always end up rushing to the tube based on this apps timings to only find out its completely wrong every time! Honestly what a joke.

Amazingly useful and great UI. Used this for Paris and London and it's map have been better than Google.

Excellent App. We could comfortably cover the city of Paris just because of it.

It is 1am, I just spent 20 mins at a bus stop desperately waiting for the bus suggested by CityMapper - only to then open Google Maps and learn that it no longer stops here. Not for the first time - so I can no longer trust this app. It used to be reliable but this is no longer the case. Also really strange to see it having some serious yet very basic UX issues - why on earth does it take me more than one click to set "Home" as "where I am going from" every single time I'm asking for a route?

Great App and was invaluable when me and my family recently travelled through Europe. I’m not sure if it always suggests the most efficient route/options but it always got us to where we wanted to go and the amount of detail provided, such as which line, platform, exits to use etc is really quiet impressive and took a lot of the stress out of travelling in foreign countries with a family in tow. I’d highly recommend this to anyone travelling in one of the supported cities!

Superb, used the app all weekend in New York (Pixel 2xl running the latest version of Android 10). I can't recommend it highly enough, got me around the city and never failed, the interface is excellent and the station reminders and live updated tile on the lock screen are a nice touch. Used in conjunction with the beta version of Google maps that allows augmented directions, you can't go wrong. A must have app in any city, and the best app I've used this year.

City mapper is very convenient. It's also small and very quick. Plus it offers the street view with the Periscope. Definitely would recommend it as it is better than any other map app that I have ever encountered.

The app is Ok ish, only if you are in London or Birmingham. It's a shame you can't search other cities within the UK. I recently used it in London, and it got me to where I was going to, same as in Birmingham, but when I was in Liverpool just keeps saying I'm out of Birmingham and wasn't able to use it. If you want more people to use it, needs more cities added

If you are travelling Singapore on a budget and don't wish to spend on the cab rides then this all you require. The app gives you all the possible connections from source to destination, the time for the next bus or metro, approximate seats available and also the money you've saved and calories burnt and the environment protected (although I can't vouch for that info) coupled with the amazing public transport of Singapore you can be rest assured that your trip will be a breeze.

Somehow this is the only app that tracks the NJ Transit buses and let's you know when they are coming. As the buses are super unreliable and do not follow their actual schedule, actually knowing when the bus will come has been a lifesaver.

Used to be you could set your watch to the bus times Citymapper gave you. Even delays used to come up way more quickly than even Google Maps would show them. Lately though it's been going really downhill, giving inaccurate or non-existant bus times, completely missing delays or even planned closures. Today was the last straw after I wasted over 2 hours over the Notting Hill Carnival weekend trying to take routes that were closed (hardly an unforeseeable disruption!) Back to Google Maps for me.

Very good app. Provide useful information for commuters.

Charged with out permission and can't delete my card on payment big scam, not happy, plus they won't let you unsubscribe for up to 4 weeks once started really wished I never tried, stick to Oyster card

Amazing app for travel, commuting, or basic navigation. Has accurate and useful data in the places I've used it (Singapore and Seoul). I especially like that in Seoul it provides the best part of the subway to catch your transfer or exit. Walking navigation could be improved, but the other features make up for it!

I love this app. It gives you up to date info on cancelled trains, the mapping is pretty quick, and it's very easy to use and get used to. The app converts your commute into how many trees you save, and calories you burn. It even gives you an alarm when it's your stop so you can dose off 😉Good job guys.

At least in NYC, Citymapper is indispensible. I use it at least once a week.

Just tried this out for the first time in Vancouver and am mightily impressed. A fabulous job integrating complex information from multiple sources to make trips easy. Reckon the app's intro text can stop focusing so heavily on Sydney and Melbourne :) The sooner every major city has Citymapper support, the better the world will be.

It used to work really well but after a recent update, it is a bit wonky. It used to show the perfect journey for work and now it shows combinations of public transport that are better to avoid. Citymapper people, I know you can fix it. Other than that a good app but needs some improvement

Using it in Singapore. Since the last update (Sept 4th 2019), there is no live timing to the bus system. Shame. It used to display real-time arrival for busses. Hopefully they will get it back again. For now, I can't use it. Edit: real-time timing is back! Thank you!

Used this app in washington dc and it worked great. We used the metro and walked. Must have if going to a big city

I use it every day for my commute. I will continue this as well as recommend it to others.

Has been my favourite, BUT lately has failed to find obvious routes and given ludicrous suggestions. It couldnt even find a timetable for a direct link between Parramatta and Leura. I emailed support, but recieved no response. Somewhat disappointing.Don't expect any help from the developers. You don't get any response!

I use this app regularly and the app is brilliant at planning a journey and has a very usable interface but since the last update my wear app no longer displays journey in any way and switches off when displaying the journey. I would have given it a 5 star if it wasn't for the latest update

Oh my God! I can spin the map now, it's not stuck with the North up! What's next? We'll it be able to save the last few searches as offline maps, let's call this "general orientation" maps? Can the Citymapper team add this improvement? We'll see.

Very Useful especially during my London trip. Used it everyday.

One of the best apps you could use to get around any of the major cities listed for this app. We used it in Paris for every where we wanted to go. It helped us get around on the Metro, trams, buses and even walking wherever we went . I wish it had Prague as well, but it doesn't currently.

It's working exceptionally well in Paris, but not in Stockholm. Bus stops that seem to be active are out of service and the exact location of a bus stop on the two sides of the street is not shown (meaning that it's difficult to tell by GPS if you're waiting in the right direction).

The absolute best app to use when roaming in a big city.

Really unaccurate travel timings causing me to be ontime to a stop only to find the bus or train has already gone. This is not acceptable and won't be rating it higher until the quality improves.

Absolutely best version ever ! You can FINALLY turn the map. Oh Sait Citymapper god, thank you for this gift.

Great app. Works perfectly. Love the "get off" reminder

sometimes I'm already on the train and i want to report on the trip, but we can't select trains that have departed. So let's say I'm on the commuter rail. there's a delay so i want to and update my connections, but i can't unless i pick the next train an hour from now... but i am on the train can use "recently departed" in an upcoming release?

This app is a MUST for any traveller.. I visited London, England this summer for the first time and the app was just amazing.. Helped me navigate a foreign city in a breeze... Underground (subway) walking etc.. Just phenomenal. A must!

Citymapper is the MOST USEFUL utility app on my phone. Probably the most useful in the world. The UI, features, simple operation and options are unparalleled. You MUST download and use this app!

The latest two updates have changed the bus theme such that it's really inconvenient. Please reverse the update to how it used to be when I clicked on a bus stop icon and makes the bus stops visible like they were before.

Fantastic app which pulls different travel options into ONE place and allows you to store them - very easy to use too. Only improvenent suggestions would be for the app to be able to recalculate my arrival time if I choose a different route e.g. if I am walking and for it to have voice prompts.

Won't let me share my route. Says check connection. My connection is absolutely fine

Amazing! Life changing when your a country bumpkin visiting the big smoke! Made life soooo much easier, especially when trying to also look after 2 young kids! Thank you! Can you please do this for all uk travel?! I love how you do step by step and include walking map and all the stats! Love it!

Amazing app. Always gets me where I need to be only some of the dlr time table is incorrect. But to be fair they are incorrect on the actual DLR time table too.

The best app for travel updates and route planning .... Best app ... Loved it.

Amazing's simple, accurate and works everytime...

Best there is. Use it every day in London. Improvements required are (1) delayed trains should be kept as an option with the estimated time. (2) the return journey button which switches the start and end round no longer works.

I used it when i was carless in LA. It was reliable and convenient. My complaint is that sometimes you cant see the names of the streets because it is hidden by CityMapper trajectory line.

This app is fantastic for navigating the transit system. The only con is getting to the destination once you've excited. The map isn't very helpful, especially if you don't know the area.

Used it around Paris. Excellent app - almost never wrong. The GPS could do with a little bit of improvement wrt accuracy if I'm being nitpicky, but otherwise no complaints. Saved me tonnes of time and money!

The best, never rode Paris subway. Viewed video on how to ride and then used app to get around. Easy best app for transportation ever. 6 star rating Follow up Have used app for 2 weeks now and my admirations has only improve. Supper impressed.

Easy as hell to use city transport. Even includes London Commuter Belt! Just wish the bus stop detection radius was smaller so that you don't mistakenly take the bus in the opposite direction from the adjacent stop.

The reason I gave a 3 star is because lately the app has been giving incorrect information for bus times and also today I had an appointment and the app told me that the place was only 2 stops away but it was 20 min journey with several stops, otherwise the app is great

Excellent! I apologize before when I was bitching that the search-for-a-bus-line feature was gone when in fact it was moved to a new position. Stupid me. Great app.

doesn't always show you all trains available and doesn't always update if there are delays on trainlines.. very very annoying when you have opted for what you thought was the quickest option to then take double the time to get home!!!

For the last 2 weeks the app started showing me unwanted notifications on the journey to and from work. I did ask for it (as i dont use the app much) and the settings options dont really tell you how to turn the notifications off. The app is just acting like bloatware.

It is just excellent. It helped me and my girlfriend a lot to be just where we need it and without any problems. Amazing, I really recommend this app if you are visiting London.

Since the update, things are horrible.Times are wrong across the system, GPS is inaccurate. Worse app ever. Update. App still sucks. The only way to stop it from sucking up battery is to force stop. SMH.

Life saver, great app, shows prices, times all uptown date info, its quick and reliable. Also has a few mini games in thete too. Not everywhere is available but for the places I visited on holiday it was great. Do not hesitate and download this great app!

[09/19] once again, updated the app and it STILL doesn't load individual train timetables. Utter. Trash. I'd give this a 0 if i could Once again an update has killed the app. It doesn't even load timetables anymore. It just sits there idle... what happened?

The best travel app for London! It's so user friendly and shows you many travel options, including the cost.

Installed on my smartwatch, all details of the trip are shown on the watch except for the map. This happened after updated both Citymapper and Wear OS. Please advise.

Very useful, shows multiple routes and timing for next busses and trains. Also the total cost of the trip is calculated. Using it in Toronto🇨🇦

This is an excellent app, when it decides to work. Many times it pretends to have no connection (technically it accuses the phone of not being connected to the internet when it perfectly is).

An excellent map app. More than what I want!

Has led me astray so many times. Tells me to walk the entirely wrong direction. This happens probably about 70% of the time. Cannot trust it! Infuriating, especially when you're in a hurry.

Inaccurate information. Your database is not synced with actual bus schedules. Says there is still bus but there wasn't any for the night. Some of the bus routes are completely wrong.

The best app for London. Reliable, quick and easy to use. Always up to date and gives you several options to travel A to B. Great job team Citymapper!

POOR. What is the point of an app that consistently gives inaccurate information. E.g. Wasted 25mins of my day waiting for a bus that was supposed to come "1 min" after I arrived at the station. The next 25b bus was supposed to come in 8 mins....still no bus. Same thing for the 925. At first, it's arriving at the station in 12 mins, that changes to 0 mins - guess bus. TTC is simply not dependable, at least give more realistic timelines so people can make alternative arrangements.
