I have been trying to upgrade to no commercials for two days now with no luck. CBS just parrotts back to me what they already have on their web site. Their commercials are annoying as all get out and I will gladly upgrade so as not to have to mute their commercials everytime they come on. (I suspect that is their plan.

austria The description falsely claims that the latest episodes are free, but NOTHING is available unless you subscribe to CBS All Access, including episodes that aired yesterday...

europe The issue I'm having is when I'm using the CBS App and then set the "sleep timer" on my Sony Bravia TV. Normally, setting the sleep timer is rather easy. Basically I tap the "Apps" button on my remote and another window opens where you can scroll to the timer app. What you are watching continues to play on the left side of the screen. What's happening since last week with the CBS App is when I go to the timer app, the show I'm watching stops playing. After I set the timer and exit that menu, the show I'm watching comes back on, except there is a BLUE border all the way around my screen. Also, I cannot FF, RW or pause the show. I'd appreciate CBS fixing this bug. I've set the sleep timer on other apps and they work just fine, no issues. Thank You.

germany This app works well, for the most part, on my SHIELD TV Pro (recently updated to 8.1.1) and 1080p TV. It works better than the Roku and regular Android versions, perhaps because my SHIELD has a hard-wired Ethernet connection to the router whereas my other devices stream via Wi-Fi. The audio, picture quality, and stability are all good. The only problems I've experienced are out-of-synch audio and video on a few episodes of older shows (specifically Frasier).

price What bothers me was that I started my free months trial with no commercials. Without even knowing it, and only two weeks after begiing my trial, it switched over to with adds and charged my card... I am removing the app and disputing the charge... False advertising, and fraudulent charges... -1 star...

  6. Larry Wilson-avatar

switzerland CBS could (and should have) done better designing their Android TV app. They finally updated it to include Dolby Vision, but the only way to get Dolby 5.1 output is to watch another Dolby 5.1 capable app, then switch over to the AA app. Another version of the app allows you to select alternate soundtracks, including the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. Unfortunately, that app also doesn't have Dolby Vision. Why is it so hard to get both options into the same app?

amazon Signing up for "CBS All Access" also signed me up for "CBS Full Episodes" without my consent! This results in a double credit card charge every month. Check your credit card statements! Absolutely terrible app anyway, full of alpha-level bugs.

  8. Preston G-avatar

cost Signed up for the free 7 day trial, now on day 2 and still cant get signed in thru the Android TV app, keeps giving me errors.

  9. Jim Cetnar-avatar

app I tried watching PICARD but it was impossible to understand. Lots of gaps in the audio and stuttering. Screen freezes and the large pause symbol displays, then the program starts again and the same thing happens over and over. And the background audio is much too loud making it difficult to hear the dialogue. And when there is an action sequence with no dialogue the audio volume goes way up. I have to constantly increase and decrease the volume control. I even had Spectrum come out to check all my connections and signal strength. All in all, this whole thing sucks. And there was no Closed Captioning !!!!!

  10. Joe Mizera-avatar

picard Oof! I subscribed just to see Picard, and it was the absolute worst streaming app experience on my Nvidia Shield. I chose the "limited commercials" option, which is a joke. Not only are there lots of commercials, they hang, rebuffer, loading logo, require a restart, and so on. Worth mentioning that I am on gigabit fiber, and have zero problems with the other major streaming apps. The frustration of messing with this poorly designed app really took away from enjoying the program. Hopefully, it'll show up eventually on some other platform, because I am out.

  11. Willis Lindsey-avatar

I have never had a single issue with the service. My app works fine even when using my phone carrier as my internet provider. I have had no issues with lag, speed, or content (other than there aren't enough SYFY shoes on it. Start Trek Discovery's lapse could and maybe should have coincided with the Packard Star Trek shows. That way we Trekkers wouldn't be going through withdrawals. I am not one of the Trekkers that dresses up as an alien or one of the Star Trek crew members, just to clarify. Bottom line is that this CBS All Access Premium service (No commercials) ROCKS!

  12. Robb Woolford-avatar

Ever since the last update there is constant skipping and buffering. It's not worth paying for this low quality video/audio. I'm canceling at the end of the month.

  13. Jason Schnider-avatar

Not the apps fault, but the streaming service seems to buffer often, like every minute. Not smooth enough to pay for.

  14. Barbara Fuller-avatar

So CBS All Access deactivated the link to bill through Verizon...without notice by the way. I have spent 2 days trying to reconnect thru my phone, then my laptop, then my TV. I took my credit card, told me I had to link with my bank account (actually hate that option and thinking of dropping CBS All Access), then came back thru my wife's phone, asked if I had other devises (said yes) sent a notice I needed to change my password, than a notice for a check digit to the phone. Loaded CBS to my laptop then had to load app to TV...still waiting for the TV app. YOUR SYSTEM SUCKS. MORE INCLINED TO DROP YOU THAN KEEP YOU. Any more hassles and it is Bye Bye forever.

  15. Dave Butler-avatar

This app for Shield TV is not usable. The video is bad and watching a show (or trying to watch a show I should say) yields an error. I've uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted, nothing helps. It's so bad I don't understand how it could be so bad. I'm going to cancel the service so I'm not that upset, I use YTTV and its dvr so I don't really need All Access but if it worked I might have kept it. The Roku app works fine if you use that.

  16. Ginger Mielke-avatar

This app is the worst. Customer Sevice is non-existent. CBS All Access refurred me to Google Play. Google Play had not responded. I am paying for a program without being able to use it. Cancelling. Probably won't get my $5.99 back either. They should be ashamed of themselves. Save your money. Don't use this app.

  17. Jason Strealy-avatar

Don’t sign up for this app, as there is no way to cancel it. I have been looking for a way to do so for two days.

  18. Tim Desmond-avatar

Doesn't always start the show - sometimes it just spins. Warning - if you choose to pay for a year instead of monthly - you're stuck - no refunds. Also can't add Showtime unless you are on the monthly plan. My biggest frustration is I can't turn off autoplay - at the completion of an episode it immediately starts playing something - and the app decides what to play next. For a while it kept trying to force me to watch The Good Fight - now it starts Twilight Zone without any action on my part. This forces me to stop playing the episode I didn't want before I can select what I want to watch next. Makes me mad every single time. But, I canceled cable, and between this app and Hulu I can see over 90% of the broadcast TV shows I like to watch. I paid for the commercial free version and have no issues with commercials. Video and sound quality is also fine. I'm primarily using on a Sony android TV.

  19. Mark Magee-avatar

Loses lip sync in commercials. Every time. At times, audio is over a second ahead of the video. The app regularly fails to work at all. "We are experiencing some technical difficulties. Please check again later." We are experiencing a very badly written app. Scrap the whole thing, hire a new team of developers, and start over. It's FUBAR. To add insult to injury, when the app is having problems, and I have to restart the program, I have to watch the same damn commercials again. Update: No, I will not call in. Your streams lose lip sync. Multiple reviewers have noted this. I am not on your SQA team. Pay me some money, and I will consider helping you solve the problem. Is it the server, the app, a fundamental flaw in the time sync capabilities of the protocol you use? Who knows? Especially not your development team. This is compounded by the fact that leaving and resuming a show does not work. The only option is the restart, which means I have to watch the commercials over and over and over again if I want to get rid of the lack of lip sync. Surely you have some way of detecting and logging errors. Figure it out.

  20. Ben Murphy-avatar

Got this app to watch a game that was advertised on the front page of the app. Game wouldn’t stream as advertised. Extremely difficult to figure out how to cancel. Ended up paying for something I never used once. The charge on my credit card was ran through google play, so I didn’t catch it. I thought it was a movie rental charge.

  21. Wanda Busch-avatar

Don't sign up! They will never help you find the place to cancel!

  22. Jayson Shene-avatar

What I love about CBS All Access is Star Trek! with Twilight Zone comin' up from behind quickly. The video plays fine on my Nvidia Shield TV. But the largest issue I have is this; I have to watch these shows through this app. Some of the annoyances: 1. No option to turn off the auto play "feature". So you get to add shows to your "Shows You Watch" list, whether you want them or not. 2. No control over your "Shows You Watch" list. If you don't want that show to be in that list glaring in your face with that actor you hate, tough cookies. It may never leave! (Seems like you could once) 3. You also can't just select a show to add to your list to watch later. You have to start it and stop it. Then it will show up, forever. 4. How about a way to mark shows as watched / unwatched. That way when I leave 10 minutes of show credits and commercials I could set it as watched. Because currently I have a list called "Continue Watching" filled with show I already finished watching. Just not to your metrics. No chance you could be doing that to inflate your numbers? Naw, never. I could go on, but you get the picture.

  23. Jose Leon-avatar

I wish i had read other reviews, because they were right. Do NOT use the free trial, they will charge you immediately and then you can't log in and trying to change your password is a pain in the a$$. not a bad streaming app, but the crappy purchase, trial, and log-in make it awful.

  24. Ryan Hart-avatar

Consistent problems, every time. Audio becomes desynced with the video. Pressing the next episode sometimes ends up replaying the first episode watched of that session. Sometimes, the entire app needs to be force closed, but that doesn't fix the infinite buffering problem on the TV via Chromecast. If there was ever a way to encourage and promote piracy, this would be it.

  25. Chris and Emmy Coser-avatar

This is absolutely the worst application/service combination in the history of streaming media. Not only did the app deactivate my account after the trial period expired, but Google play charge me for the service while my account was deactivated. CBS All Access Phone Help told me there was nothing they could do. They said they would connect me to Google, whom they assured me could help. When they transferred me though, it was just to the front-end main intake line for GooglePlay, which proceeded to direct me to the web site and then disconnected me. I only subscribed to this service for Discovery and Picard and was willing to pay the $9.99/month for that, but since they aren't giving me the service and are just disconnecting me while charging me for a service they aren't rendering, Picard or no Picard, I've cancelled this absolutely catastrophically horrible service. It. is. the. worst. I've cancelled everything and requested a return from Google Play. In addition, the app is also horrible. The captions are always out of sync (sometimes too soon, sometimes too late) with the speech, the navigation is very much out of date with current applications, the in-video navigation is also horrible and counter-intuitive. ...and I thought Prime Video had a poor interface. CBS All Access takes "Poor Interface" to a whole new level.

  26. Jason Simonds-avatar

"Try CBS All Access FREE now! Then pay only $5.99 per month thereafter for the Limited Commercials plan or $9.99 per month for the Commercial Free plan. " <----- This is a LIE. I was charged immediately and my next bill date is 28 days later.

Consistent issues when trying to watch on my Sony 4K Bravia TV. In fact, most of the time the app won't get past the launch page. I have to cast from another device which defeats the purpose.

  28. Keith & Karen Cunningham-avatar

Poor user interface, connection errors, some commercials even with "commercial free". Difficult to cancel. Stick with Netflix and/or Hulu. How do I cancel? Really difficult to figure out.

You really have to check your credit card statement closely when you have a credit card attached to a large corporation like google + apple = greed. The free trial tease is getting old and it should be easier to cancel

  30. Robert Kearns-avatar

Pathetic. After a short time all I get is error messages. I paid for too long and definitely will be fighting for a refund. I DO NOT recommend this app or CBS in general.

  31. Matthew Battson-avatar

So much for a free trial , enter card details and they charge immediately , no free trial as they advertise

  32. George Bowman-avatar

Nothing live or searching works for me. I paid for a month and found the app to be useless.

  33. WIlliam-avatar

Still no luck trying to cancel service. I must be very difficult, or they really make it very hard for you to cancel. I've been following directions and can't find how to do it.

  34. A Google user-avatar

beware, even if you cancel the free trial before it ends they still charge your account.

  35. Laurie Johnson-avatar

Always froze and buffered endlessly - never able to watch a program

  36. Justin Cooper-avatar

Said free trial but my card got charged right away. Total rip-off!

  37. Erik Santiago-avatar

garbage.. spinning blue wheel on all 3 shield tv's.. cancelling subscription.

  38. R. F.-avatar

terrible....customer service is a joke...impossile to cancel ...titles are horrible...streaming quality fair at best

  39. A Google user-avatar

Update: 4/27/19: every time it cuts to commercial the audio and video are out of sync. I have to rewind every single time, which sometimes causes the whole thing to freeze up and then by the time it unfreezes it decides to replay a whole new set of ads. Horrible app, but unfortunately the only way to watch Star Trek Discovery.

  40. A Google user-avatar

I had doubts reading some of the bad reviews from other people, but I gave it a shot after Netflix increased their prices and I think I really like the app on my Mi Box. It seems to run well with my network connection and I really like checking out a lot of the classic shows they have with some of the new ones. I especially love putting on shows like I Love Lucy when my grandma is over. She is super excited that we can put on classic shows or some soaps when we hang out. When I am by myself though I enjoy watching the Twilight Zone or any of the Star Trek shows they have. I'm sure not all the things they have are appreciated by everyone, but this is my personal experience. :)

  41. A Google user-avatar

Frequent glitches caused the paid version to crash at inopportune times. Also the app that we used to subscribe on our TV cannot be used to cancel - deceptive. I thought I had it cancelled only to find out you have to go to google play to cancel. You can subscribe on the tv but you cannot cancel by the same method. I do not appreciate their effort to make cancelling difficult.

  42. A Google user-avatar

I tried CBS All Access on my Sony XBR65A1E Google Play / Android TV app and I feel the video / sound quality, app features, etc are all sub par compared to what I am used to with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, HBO Now and more. On top of the technical deficiencies, they also play too many ads for something they want to charge $6 / month or $10 / month for no ads and just for the one show I wanted to watch. I think I'll wait for the show to become available through some other option.

  43. Ali Gangler-avatar

HORRIBLE! Also, extremely difficult to cancel subscription. DO NOT USE THE FREE TRIAL OR DOWNLOAD!

  44. Lynn Stevenson-avatar

What a major pain in the a@$ to cancel this!

  45. Steven Stacy-avatar

Very poor video quality on live tv with Nvidia shield. My Apple tv looks pretty good (HD or very close). Nvidia Shield tv looks 480p or worse. Very pixelated. Not as noticeable with on demand content. Both devices on the same network and both test at 25Mbps or higher.

  46. A Google user-avatar

It plays video content and commercials nothing special. Rewind on a television with Android TV is not possible, it takes you all the way back to the beginning. Today cancelled my subscription because "The Good Fight" season 1 has ended. Only 10 episodes! Bummer. I will not subscribe again until season two is released NEXT year. There's nothing else in the CBS library that I cannot get from what my DVR records, or from on demand thats provided from my satellite provider

  47. D Lee-avatar

This app plays on demand content but whenever I try to play Live TV... the frustration begins. I usually get the message that says, "We could not determine your location. Please enable your system to send us your location." Locations permissions are granted to this app everywhere I could find. So I'm forced to use the app via an Amazon FireStick. For a paid subscription service, CBS needs to do much better or join one of the other services (PlayStation Vue, Sling, etc.).

  48. Albert Reichenbach-avatar

    Albert Reichenbach

Very disappointed in this app. Gave it a try to watch the The Good Fight and was surprised by the amount of "limited" commercials involved. Not going to pay $6 a month and still have to deal with commercials. Even with a new Star Trek tv show coming out in a few months on All Access, I will live without it. Confusing interface and plenty of prompts to update to commercial free was a turn off.

  49. Matthew Linn-avatar

In "Glengarry Glen Ross", Blake says "They're sitting out there waiting to give you their money. Are you gonna take it?" CBS is not going to take it. I tried to upgrade to commercial free and every device said go to the original device, which is my android TV. My android TV gave me error 0, which means no error. Success. So I called the toll free number on the screen with this "error" and they didn't have a clue what to do. I held for an hour while the tech told me different menu choices (which without exception didn't exist). She told me I'd be transferred to Google Play and I said no thank you. Why would google troubleshoot this app on their behalf? It plays video fine. Looks ok. Too many ads, up to 5 by 40 minutes into the show. Sometimes 5 ads, then <10 seconds of show (looking at you Colbert) then 5 more ads. I canceled my subscription.

  50. Dan Dobson-avatar

Have to agree with the other 1 star reviews. Signed up last evening on my android TV. Watched one show loaded with commercials. It hung near the end on commercial but finally loaded so we could finish that single show. Canceled this morning. Why would you want to PAY for a streaming service that's crammed with commercials?? No thanks. I'll DVR the shows and use the skip button liberally! If I'm going to pay to view I expect much fewer commercials!

  51. Peter Miller-avatar

Absolute rubbish. The CBS app for my phone and tablet allows me to watch shows for free with ads, however the Android TV version requires a subscription for everything. I'm forced to cast from the app on my phone to watch CBS shows on my TV

  52. Mateo PA-avatar

NFL football blacked out on CBS local channel feed. Deal breaker. No such blackout on Sling TV local Fox and NBC feeds.

  53. Dan Silver-avatar

    Terrible navigation!

  54. joshua sox-avatar

what a p.o.s. this is. everytime i try and use it, it thinks that i dont have a subcription, so im like ok ill subscribe again, guess what my device knows i already do have a subscription so it freaks out and closing the app because the app is obviously retarded as is the developer who sat on the toilet and created it. for the love god fix this.

  55. Mike D-avatar

Quite possibly one of the worst subscription apps ever made. I've been using this on iOS and Android. Shocked with the level of ads and that this is so poorly made that it is the only streaming app I have that lags constantly. I bought a Netgear Blackhawk to eliminate all potential issues, all my equipment runs better since yet this horrible app still lags. Except for ads of course. Pay for an app and the only thing that works consistently is ads. Awesome. Am cancelling at the end of my shows season and hopefully can find a different solution in the future.

  56. Nicholas Conrad-avatar

    Nicholas Conrad

It said it was free to try, but charged me anyway, I cancelled within 15 minutes and I still didn't get a refund. Plus, the one thing I wanted it for, anyways, streaming NFL it said was blocked from streaming, but it would only tell you that after it charged you for the subscription. TOTAL SCAM!!

  57. Thomas Burns-avatar

This app hangs several times per show. Streaming is frequently interrupted before or after commercials.... which are numerous.

  58. Kurt Smith-avatar

Who built this app? Let alone who's supporting it? They have no clue how to operate an app relating to tv steaming community. It crashes, it freezes, it makes you submit credentials!! Over and over again!! Ugh!!! Then they're are the same 4 ads per month that they run over and over again. I'm paying for this app and they run commercials like its OTA!! Come on. Oh did I mention the interface SUCKS!

  59. Fred Clingen-avatar

Worked great for 6 weeks now Live TV does not work and the customer support line is really bad. Hoping for a new release and then I will change my review (if it gets better). Why does live TV work from my PC, from my Phone but not my Android TV when it did 2 days ago. Reset the android TV to factory defaults then reinstalled app and same error. Says no internet connection but I can stream all the shows without issue just nothing live. If your looking for live TV this is not reliable nor is it working properly.

  60. Zachary Dunn-avatar

Uses proper design. Voice search works properly. Recommends way too many irrelevant shows. There should be a section of the app for shows I watch so I don't have to search every time. Captions should be customizable by color, position, and size.

  61. Brian Park-avatar

To charge a monthly fee for television that is free OTA, is one thing. But, to still have commercials that you are unable to fast forward thru is almost criminal. There is nothing on CBS worth that amount of $ and time

  62. Babak Mozaffari-avatar

    Babak Mozaffari

My initial reaction was that $6 is too expensive for just CBS, based on a comparison to Hulu, Showtime and so on... worse yet, as I found out after trying it out, you still have to watch ads at this price! I won't be subscribed long.

  63. Andrew Stephon-avatar

Very poor video playback on nvidia shield Android TV. On the other hand, casting from Android phone, computer, etc. to the shield works flawlessly. The app also spams the home screen with random recommendations. Finally, the 'recently watched' category is basically useless. By clicking on a recently watched show, it doesn't take you to the show page, but instead starts playback... Of something you've already watched! A 'continue next episode' category would be much more useful. I did the one week trial and paid for an additional month to catch up on a show, but with all these issues, there's no incentive to pay for a subscription to a poorly optimized app with a confused feature set

  64. James Kallof-avatar

Live TV doesn't work and I am in a supported area, just throws error internet connection required. Remove the ads and we may have a winner here. Why would I pay for ads?

  65. Tim Owens-avatar

The app would be great if there were no ads. I refuse to pay for a service and still have to watch ads. This is why I cut the cord many years ago.

  66. A Google user-avatar

Great app but only one issue is closed captioned font very small. I am Deaf person depend on closed caption.

  67. A Google user-avatar

you get adds, even though you pay for the content, you have to sign in every other week, but you can't do it directly from the TV, you have to use your computer or other device.

  68. Lucas Espinosa-avatar

$6/mo and I still have to watch ads? No thanks, I will be cancelling after my free month is over.

CBS all Access is SLIMY! I already pay for TV!

Not worth $5.99 per month for only CBS shows AND commercials.

Do you really think limiting the content on your service is helping your apps popularity ? This is what causes people to pirate your content. I try to pay for it but companies like this is what cause people to look elsewhere for content. Also making it difficult to cancel the subscription makes people hate the entire experience even more! Seriously not caring about customer experience is not the way to run a business.

The ratings don't lie. Horrible app. Better off using an antenna to capture over the air broadcasts. Major issue was that shows would not play properly after the obligatory commercials. Not a single issue EVER with any of the commercials playing, but as soon as the commercial ended and the actual show was to begin, there would be no audio, or the picture would fast forward while the audio played normally. Pausing would sometimes sync things back up, but if you tried to rewind, the episode would start all over. Then you could only fast forward a few seconds at a time to get back to where you where. It's as if the app is rigged to force you to purchase the commercial free access. Not having it. Next issue is the blacking out of some sports events. Even though the game can be seen over the air, CBS does not have the rights to stream NFL games. NFL apparently has their own app for that. Then there was the hunt to cancel the service. Called as the website says only to be told I have to go thru Google+ since that's how I signed up. Why not list that on your website to prevent time being wasted!

Why would I pay to watch commercials? The commercial free option is just too much for few CBS shows that I watch. No thanks.

Worked pretty well to stay up to speed on latest season of Survivor. Would have kept the app if there were other CBS shows we liked.
