This app is the worst of all the streaming apps on the ShieldTV. We regularly use Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Hulu, and even Peacock. Even Peacock runs smoother, loads faster. Extremely long load times for any content. Like minutes sometimes. Then, it may fail to load at all. Highly unwatchable. Updates never resolve the issues. Functionality is wonky. Like they're trying to reinvent the standard viewing controls, making them worse than useless. For example, when you're trying to jump past the opening credits and pick the last frame of those credits, it jumps a few seconds into the show, instead of at the end of the credits. Annoying. I could live with the wonky controls, lack of favorites, weird layout if the load times were improved. And I don't think its our internet speed as the above mentioned streaming services all are either faster to load, more predictable to load, or will actually load. Zero stars.

This app constantly doesn't honor subscription levels properly. I pay for add free and on a regular basis I'll see ads with everything. Also it prerolls episodes with the studio logo with a separate stream from ad servers so the app doesn't work if it can't communicate with them for that. I honestly think at this point you should be sending me a check for what you keep getting paid for all the ads I see on my ad free account.

Update: Cancelled my account (which inexplicably took a password reset, not using mobile browsers, and nuking my VPN) because they started showing long unskippable ads on the ad free version. Truly the worst streaming app experience I have had. Viacom is so greedy. Original Review: Man, I have had this app on my Android TV for months (CBS AA now Paramount) hoping it would get better. It got worse. Things I liked: The Recent Episodes list (which they have nuked with the switch to Paramount+ ) The content, (binging Survivor and the brain numbing familiarity of the 193 different Chuck Lorre sitcoms available which are somehow all the same) Things I don't like: - Initial load time is way too long - No ability to mark an episode as watched - They don't seem to keep track of episodes you actually did watch, because the same episode will play over and over in the autoplay loop and if you stop an episode you already watched after 10 seconds, it will never suggest the newest episode - No way to get to the show landing page other than starting to watch an episode and hitting the back button (which causes the issue above) - They got rid of the "Latest Episodes" list which was the one workaround for the annoying behavior above.

I have been trying to CANCEL this subscription for six months. I’ve sent 2 emails, and gotten generic responses that point me back to an app that freezes up. REALLY DISAPPOINTED!!

Meh. Should have canceled before the free trial expired. Was sure there was a new season of The Good Fight... but we were wrong. Nothing else good.

App does not work on Android TV. Will cancel subscription if I can’t watch any shows.

Anyone else not get Yellowstone on the only streaming app that it’s on?

  8. Joe Mizera-avatar

Oof! I subscribed just to see Picard, and it was the absolute worst streaming app experience on my Nvidia Shield. I chose the "limited commercials" option, which is a joke. Not only are there lots of commercials, they hang, rebuffer, loading logo, require a restart, and so on. Worth mentioning that I am on gigabit fiber, and have zero problems with the other major streaming apps. The frustration of messing with this poorly designed app really took away from enjoying the program. Hopefully, it'll show up eventually on some other platform, because I am out.

This app for Shield TV is not usable. The video is bad and watching a show (or trying to watch a show I should say) yields an error. I've uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted, nothing helps. It's so bad I don't understand how it could be so bad. I'm going to cancel the service so I'm not that upset, I use YTTV and its dvr so I don't really need All Access but if it worked I might have kept it. The Roku app works fine if you use that.

I don't know if this is new or not or it's something we're just finding out about. I use a 2017 Shield to stream into my media room/office. Often, it shows CBS All Access is downloading something then gives me the option to stop it. It's very weird. I haven't watched it at all since about 7 AM, yet 14 hrs later, every time I exit to the menu it shows the app as downloading something. I'm on unlimited data, but some people aren't. Why is the app downloading so often? Also...not a fan of the new UI. all.
