Reviews From google play store

This is a excellent all in one media player: podcast, radio, podcast/livecast maker, and audiobook. It is well organized and easy to use. It is easy to transfer content from various podcast apps and work great on iPad and web.

Just clunky and never a pleasure to use. Often latest podcasts not available and no idea how to update or refresh. Won't stop playing when I close the app, which is a real pain. Frequent download errors. I'm using the free version, but still...

App was great in the past but now the podcasts studder. I have downloaded episodes, put my phone on high performance, made sure power saver is excluded and had the phone plugged in. All updates are applied. Not sure what changed. I have a note 9. Please resolve soon.

Pretty clean interface. Has occasional adds when navigating between pages, but nothing too much. Easy to use, and it remembers which episodes you have listened to.

App has a bug; when on Android, you can switch to another media app like YouTube which will pause the castbox. After switching back to castbox the app will load for about 10 minutes before it plays content again

Ugh, it's my favorite podcast app and has the easiest download feature I can't find anywhere else. Unfortunately it EATS data even when you play downloaded episodes with all the mobile data settings set to "off." That's an automatic 1 star because it's misleading and can be extremely costly - it was for me. 😭 The customer service team was completely unable to assist, so reporting the issue does nothing but waste time. Don't waste your money on the app or the data it's going to use! So sad.

Used to love the App. But not loving it much tonight. I have used for a couple of years with my "Castbox" ID that I created when I started using it. Installed on new phone today. And now it doesn't seem to except "Castbox ID's" anymore. It just wants you to link your account to Facebook, or Google etc. I don't want to link to one of those accounts. Plus, if I did, it wouldn't bring over my data from my Castbox account I had created 2 years ago.

This app used to be my favorite; other than a few minor issues (such as occasionally just... pausing until I turned my phone back on) it had everything I need. But, recently it's been pausing my podcasts to play audio ads instead, sometimes up to once every 2 minutes, which frankly is a dealbreaker for me. Even if purchasing the premium model would get rid of these, i'd rather find a paid app with no issues than pay to get rid of a problem I shouldn't've had in the first place

Overall super happy with this app, only complaint is that it will randomly (rarely) just stop mid-episode. Since I like to listen as I fall asleep it becomes an extreme annoyance because I then have to pull up my eye mask and hit play again. First world problems, right? 😂 other than that, I'm a fan of the app and would recommend to friends and family.

I originally gave this app 4 stars in May 2018. Now it's just frustrating to use. The ads are ridiculous, far more than any other app on my phone. And they play videos while a podcast is playing which I hate. I never found this app particularly user friendly and that remains. I hate that I can't organize more downloads more than one way - timeof download or date of download. Everything is just too busy, too much on every screen. They still maintain a great and wide selection of podcasts.

Great for listening to podcasts, but the ads are full videos and, if you are like me and listen to them while you work, it will demolish your data as the ads refresh every few minutes even if the back light is off. It used half a gigabyte of data in the last two weeks along. Edit: Second month in a row, Castbox is the highest user of my data. Getting frustrated. I have debated stopping listening to my podcasts because of this.

I found this to be a very good app for listening to podcasts. I have an Android phone and I'm not a fan of iTunes. This app has every podcast I'm interested in as well as a few very nice features such as the ability to change the playback at several different speeds and to increase the volume of podcasts that are too quiet without changing the overall volume on the phone. Even though I download through wifi, my S7 had an issue with using mobile data. Castbox is aware of that particular problem and they are working on it. Good customer service for that issue.

I've been using Castbox for a couple years and had loved it, overall. However, all of the sudden it is devouring my mobile data, using 3GB in three days - even though I have it set to only download episodes on WiFi. And all the data usage is also from when the app is in the foreground. Is it from the many, many ads??? Whatever it is, it means I can't use the app anymore.

I love this app and use it every day! Unfortunately, it's started crashing with alarming frequency. This happens most often when I'm listening while doing something in another app, like playing a game or checking email. I'm continuing to use Castbox because I haven't found a podcast app that I like more, but I'm really hoping this issue will be addressed soon.

I have used this app for over a year and never had a complaint until this week. Suddenly it skips while playing or randomly stops. I'm also suddenly getting ads playing while the podcast is still playing. My only other complaint is the ads are SO loud I can no longer use the app while working which is when I use it most. Please fix this app! I don't want to switch

I really like it but I switched to another player. This one doesn't have the option to listen to only 1 episode. I would start listening episode 1 when trying to go to sleep and I would wake up 5 hours later listening to episode 7. It really doesn't help with sleep quality. PS: thank you for your reply. I installed it again

reviewing this for a third time. this is my most used app I pay to subscribe. 1 playlist ends up ordered randomly, not by the order I added, not by date podcasts created. ??? 2 not seeing podcast description on same page as podcast. annoying, unnecessary! 3 back button only one step. constantly having to find where I was from scratch. 4 pressing notification should go to the podcast being played not to somewhere else.

Was happy with this app for almost a year, but suddenly I got a warning of high data usage. I did a little digging and found that despite background data usage being turned off and only download over wifi, the app had used almost 1.5 Gb of data in a couple weeks. I don't consume nearly that much in audio, so my guess is ads were playing over network. Seems pretty sloppy to let that slide from castbox. I switched to another app (with no ads!). Much happier!

I used to like this app but lately with every podcast the app stops and does a commercial in Spanish and I must press play to start it again multiple times during the pod!!!. This is happening even after I stop the podcast and my screen is dark all of a sudden a Spanish commercial starts its like my phone is possessed!!! The only thing that stops it is closing the app. So I'm going to find a new app.

Ticks all my requirements; I primarily wanted an app where I can download podcasts and listen offline. Tried others which are inferior to Castbox, this app actually works offline whether in the car, work or walking the dog. So much choice for all the family covering a vast amount of subjects, genres & platforms. A happy listener. Easy to download & use, personal page helpful, subscription optional.

Not for me. Cant get to automatically download most recent podcasts. I have to do everything manually, which wastes time. Some podcasts wont organize by most recent date, only most recent year, causing me to scroll through already listened to podcasts to find the latest one. I switched to a better app that always has latest podcasts downloaded and organized.

The app always has updated podcasts, even more updated that Google or anywhere else! Which is great and powerful. However its search engine falls short and sometimes. As well as the resuming episode play function. The episode just goes back to repeat when it ends which is a bit annoying as you have to go back to the series page and scroll through to find the next one. (slightly tedious when the series have a few hundred episodes)

What a great find! (Thanks Dr. Phil!) I love that "episodes" are short (in comparison to an audio boox) and I can easily listen to an entire episode in a day. Castbox is easy to use and I love that I can sort the episodes lists. Some I have gone back to the first episode and others just pick a random episodes that sound interesting. There are so many people to choose from that I can an always find a subject that interests me.

I am about done with this app. I've had it for years. Loved it. Use it to listen to podcasts while working custodial. But recently it's started(without asking or me telling it to) to download absurd amounts of episodes. I've never wanted or needed to download any. THE BAFFLING THING IS I WENT INTO MY SETTINGS TO TELL IT NOT TO DOWNLOAD OVER MY DATA OR AT ALL. And here now within the last couple days it has tried to download episodes twice. You need to fix this issue. Now. EDIT SEE TYPE IN BOLD

When I pause my downloaded podcasts to do something else, the podcast will restart from the beginning of the episode (or back to a random spot). It have to fast forward to find my last spot if I can even remember where it was. I turned off the battery optimization as recommended for my Google Pixel 3 from other reviews but it still does it. The app has a good set up but this issue is obnoxious.

One of my earlier concerns have been addressed but this app still has one major issue - There is still no add to queue functionality. That alone would make me subscribe to premium. You guys have what would otherwise be the best podcast app but one that currently lacks the basic functionality that every other podcast app has. I'll check in someday soon and hope it's fixed. 🤞

EDIT: the app stops/crashes upwards of every 1-2 minutes sometimes. Reading other reviews, users got the same response I did: go into the app, get into my profile, find some button, email an incident report. Really? I'm going to do that every 1-2 minutes? Or l could use a different app that works. Don't put the problem back on your customers, fix it. What do you, it just closed, RIGHT NOW.

The app is good but it eats data. I had 4 GB of wifi usage and one GB of mobile data in 10 days. At the beginning I was thinking it is stealing the information (spying). I searched the internet, someone was saying the high data usage is due to advertisements loaded at the background. Another person saying it is due to downloading all the episodes in a playlist. I don't know, but in any case it is not acceptable

Much better options out there for what's offered. Downloads are pointless, unless I turn off my data outright it always defaults to listening on demand, not through the actual download. I can't get 10 minutes into any episode without it stopping upwards of every 30 seconds. This is across 3 different phones now so can't claim it's the settings on my devices. Just an all around unpolished app that presents itself as professional.

I use to love this app, but it has become unbearable to listen to podcasts. Nonstop ads during the podcasts cause it to continuously buffer. Takes me 7 hrs to listen to a 2 hr podcast. I have a Note 8 with unlimited data and have no problems with any of my other apps. Doing something about the ads during the podcast or give us an option to purchase the app with no ads!

Was a good app and my go to for podcasts and audio books but quality has recently taken a nose dive. It uses a lot of data even though the settings are set not to. On top of that, it now interrupts whatever you listening to to play an ad. It doesn't even pause it, just plays the ad over it. I suspect this is where the data is being used up to play the ad videos. Not sure why a podcast app would play videos for ads but that's neither here nor there.

This has to be the best way to get your podcasts. I mean it's so smooth and seamless to get in and not even get flooded with ads. I thought surely it would just be a mess but us in the free app no money spent and it's amazing. Makes work go by so much faster than just listening to my favorite music.

I've tried a couple of apps for podcasts and this is the best one I came across. It combines podcasts that might exclusively be available on Spotify or SoundCloud as well as having exclusive podcasts here. It's a great place to find podcasts of all levels in one place and the UX is good too. Settings are customisable too. Big recommend.

I love the app. It has all the podcasts I searched for, it's free, no bugs, there's the download option, it saves where you left off, aaand... That's it, I think. Do you really need anything more? Perfect for making your commute an actual enjoyable experience. Thanks guys!!

Love this app. Easy to use, has all the podcasts I wanted and ones I discovered and love thanks to their suggestions. Highly recommend.

I regret taking a chance on this app. Without subscribing or giving any personal info I listened to 15 minutes of one podcast (Joe Rogan). No big deal right? Wrong. Shortly after I put my phone down, Castbox took it upon itself to download 7 random podcasts using up a total of 425 MBS of my data plan & its totally unrelated stuff I don't want - I feel like I've been stolen from & that feeling sucks. I guess I should have had a lawyer read Castbox's fine print prior to using the app... DELETE

I've had this podcast player for a couple months. A recent update has made it really annoying. I get that the player wants to show ads to make some money on a free download but now it frequently has problems downloading those ads and it interrupts my podcast. So, while most of the app is ok (it could be better by allowing my to play my local audio books) when it interrupts my pod cast, requiring me to play with the phone, it's useless as a podcast player. Thus 1 star.

This app consumed a huge quantity of data (1.7GByte) in 45 minutes while audio "streaming". It used up the remainder of my monthly allowance and then cost me an additional £20 in credit before my mobile provider cut off all data access to my phone! It shouldn't even have used 1/20th of that amount in that time. Something went badly wrong with the app. I've told their support team by they don't know what went wrong and don't seem interested.

When this app works its incredible. However recently it can't stay signed between uses. This is annoying because you can't sign in offline, for someone who works in the bowels of the Earth this is a problem. Also every time who sign back in it resets your settings to default, meaning the app wants to download 3 recent pods for every subscription. At the very least please change this part and make auto download an opt in feature. My own preference is dark/black over white theme

Yeah so far one of my favourite of the podcast apps. Not sure if I'd recommend it. Like most other podcast apps and this one is worst of the bunch it allows the ads to bypass data restrictions (even if you turn off ALL THE SETTINGS for them). This app sips through it ads way to much data. I'm on the fence due this to keep using this app even due to its better positive features. If it could stop sucking literally /figuratively on the my data I'd give way more stars and overall better review.

Great selection. Great features. Love the dark mode and customizations. The option to automatically trim dead space in podcasts and also speed up the podcasts is outstanding. The app also has a web app for desktop Wich syncs with the mobile app so I can use it at work which is great!Overall great app. Only wish I could buy the app once rather than a subscription method.

A good selection, but there's some weird issues that are inconvenient. Sometimes, even though an episode is downloaded, it won't play at all. It's frustrating. But there are also ads with sound that play over podcasts and that seems like a garbage thing to do on your podcast app.

Always drops connection saying "no internet" when I have internet. Downloads always fail. Podcasts cut out all the time with internet.

You fixed the previous bug and now a new one comes up. Sometimes when I pause, the player disappears from my notification bar all together. Another time it stayed on the notification bar but I couldn't see it on the app. And it would be nice to have a queue feature Also, can you add Google Play and Amazon pay back on the castmart. Thanks

There is a bug in player engine which make unnecessary bandwidth usage. Play a podcast then pause it and leave the app. If I open app after few minutes there is no problem and player use downloaded audio but if I open app after a day castbox automatically download latest playing podcast although I didn't even played it.(I didn't cleaned app cache). Also player buffer size is too big compare to podcast addict. I should mention I use wifi and set it to metered. Sorry for My bad English.

*edit have come back to this app with a brand new s10+ latest software and version of the app and the problem is still there, it seems to only happen on bluetooth tho. Other podcast apps work fine.* pauses constantly, have gone back to another app which I don't like as much but this has become unusable. if this is fixed I will come back and change my rating, but has been happening for a while and still not resolved....

Has a lot of problems working with Google home. The sound will suddenly start playing on my phone and the Google home speakers, and they won't even be in sync. There is a large delay using any controls, like pause/play and skipping ahead, etc. If I get a call while casting on Google home, everything gets messed up. Also, can't control the volume of the Google home speakers from you phone, which is frustrating. If you're not using Google home, the app works fine.

I have been using this app for about 9 months. At first the app worked great, simple and straight forward. However, with each download the developer kept adding more and more bloatware and pushed advertising while at the same time taking away basic functions and making them only available in the paid version. Thus, the application has morphed into a a product that is unusable. The thing that is most annoying about this situation is that I wasted my time on an app that I now have to delete.

I've been a paid subscriber for more than 2 years, and I've tried just about every other podcast app but keep coming back. Castbox offers a lot of great features that you'd want in a podcast app. That said, as the app ages, more and more "features" are added that stray away from being about podcasts like zen mode, a crypto currency wallet, and the community, while not fixing bugs. All of these features make it harder to use for just listening to podcasts, and

I have used this app for awhile and never had a problem. Recently it has started skipping when I play podcasts. It will start playing what I just listen to or it will cut part of the podcast out. It has made it to where it's impossible to listen to anything. Really disappointing since this app does everything really well besides what it's main function is.

This app is absolute garbage. Just go with a different one. The ads are RIDICULOUS. It stops playing all the time. It automatically starts old episodes that aren't downloaded rather than play the next episode which is downloaded. Full of bugs and just dumb overall. One star is way to high for this app.

Easy to use with many different genres of podcasts. I love the ability to make playlists composed of many different shows that plays automatically when I get into my car. There is the ability to follow fellow listeners. The only improvement I can think of is volume leveling, there are a couple of podcasters that upload quieter audio than the others.

This app sux on my Google phone. Constantly freezes. Crashes / stops playing constantly. The file I'm listening to can be downloaded and the file will still freeze. Once it freezes it's impossible to start again, but I can play other files. I hate this app. So frustrating. OAM to find something else.

I used this app for well over a year and it was great. Recently, I click on pod casts that I listen to almost daily and it says it cannot play due to a broken source. I've deleted the app and reinstalled and still the same issue with multiple podcasts. Unfortunately I will be on the hunt for another provider because this has been going on for almost 2 weeks now

This is a good app. It works. And I'm content. But is it the best app for this? I dunno. Maybe all the other apps glitch out when you search through a podcast's list of episodes, just for some spicy frustration. Maybe all the other apps take you out of what you're doing when you try and use the 10 second rewind feature in the notification tray. You know, just for kicks. Generally, though, the glitches, while annoying, are not enough to condemn this app. The selection is good and it works.

(sigh) many, many issues, constant updates reset the settings, constant playback issues, constant download issues. Frequently breaks, requiring a redownload... The difficulty is that dispute all these annoying issues it comfortably the best dedicated pod catcher I've found, which is a rather damning indictment of the podcasting.

Great app.. Option for downloading helps a lot. I get every channel in this app. There is a very important problem.. If I unknowingly touch the delete download button, while downloading, it directly deletes all the progress. It lost me a lot of data. A delete confirmation dialog box would be very helpful.

Fantastic app. Really enjoying it so far. Also enjoy playing around with "zen mode". I know it's only in Beta right now, but I have a few sound suggestions!: pen on paper, glasses tinking/cooking, windchimes, people chattering in a cafe, clock ticking, gentle humming and cat purring. The page flipping one is good but it goes way too fast to be relaxing. Just some ideas!

A great podcast app. Has a simple to use interface and hosts thousands of podcasts in different catergories. I have used both the free and premium version and can honestly say the free ad based version is not interrupted very much. More than happy after trying a few other apps that never quite did the job for me.

The app works okay, lots of ads but it's free so whatever. I'm giving it only 2 stars because I just found out that the app has been uploading videos to my phone?? 5 minute videos in spanish, some 16 minute videos on Ted Talks and then also some weird random videos. I'm deleting the app from my phone today.

The app decided to randomly download EVERY individual podcast for every single podcast i am subscribed to, years or months old, doesnt matter, completly floods entire phone memory constantly. Also i have been very clear in my reviews, dont pretend you need my assistance so it looks like your doing something, your just pretending "were just working out the bugs" when you know your app is junk this is the 3rd time i have tried your app on a 3rd device and it has never worked corectly on any of them

Very good app. My only issue is when I subscribe to a podcast I get a pop up and I always set it to not automatically download new episodes and then it goes and downloads the newest episode. Can anyone tell me why this keeps happening? I can't find a master settings to change. Updates my review to five stars because my issue has been fixed. Love the app!

The selection of podcasts is great!! Deep and broad giving you a myriad of topics to choose from and enjoy. We used it while driving across country and it kept us going. Why just three stars? - It keeps auto downloading podcasts even after I set the account settings to not auto-download. - It continues to give me notifications even after I set no notifications in the app. I shouldn't need to block notifications on the app because it doesn't want to save my preferences. - Finally and most annoying, it auto launches when I connect a bluetooth device. Car, Headphones, Earpiece, Speakers. I've gone into all the settings and the only way to prevent this from happening is to uninstall the app....Done

I used to love this app. I used it for a long time and had no problems. Recently, however, it's unusable. I can't get an episode to play for more than 10 seconds before it stops by itself. I hit play. Listen for 10 seconds. It stops. I've done everything recommended by the developer in forums and on other's comments. Still doesn't fix the problem. Sorry, Castbox, I can't deal with the frustration anymore.

Changing my review again. Wasnt able to listen for over a week. And it now seems that the app will just play whatever episode it chooses to play. It is finally moving onto the next episode, but the next episode could be five down the line, or 38 EPISODES DOWN THE LINE. I am happy to have it move on to other episodes but a little bit less random would be nice.

I normally don't write review for apps, but I felt like I had to write one for Castbox. I've used Castbox for the past year and a half or so, and I loved it! There's lots of really nifty features (the lock screen, auto download, auto delete, discovery, organization tools) that are really intuitive and I think should be standard for other podcast apps (but are unfortunately not). The UI is very clean and easy to use as well. HOWEVER... The ads have gotten ridiculously out of control lately. It used to be that an ad popped out while searching for apps, or occasionally popped up during playback for a few seconds where the episode artwork is. These ads didn't used to be intrusive, and have been easy to ignore. But lately, the ads have been showing up so much, that it really takes away from the user experience. So much so, that I've migrated to other apps until Castbox can dial back the apps a little. I understand using ads, but this is way too much. Especially when I'm using data or driving, and the ads keep showing up. In the past week, I've already accumulated ~200gbs just in ads showing up (I download all of my episode too). And the ads don't go away unless you tap out of them, which is extremely distracting while driving (there's a lot of video ads as well) I really really want to like this app, but for now I'm going to pursue something else until the ads calm down. If you don't mind a ridiculous amount of ads taking away from the user experience though, it's a great app.

This is the only app I have used to listen to since my friend got me hooked about a year or so ago. I had a few issues here and there in the beginning, but I also had a different phone. I love that I can switch from first to last or vice-versa and how my downloads are automatic and continuously play. I recommend to anyone asking what their favorite podcast app is!

Pretty decent, good selection of podcasts to choose from. My only gripe is the app is "always on top" and cannot be exited once started. Backing out or swiping the app away, selecting "close all" etc will not work. To the developers why don't you simply add an exit button? The app is very intuitive otherwise, the above feature is an annoyance, I have to restart my phone every time I'm done listening.

Used to love this app...but I've noticed with several different podcasts they are rushed and even skipping. Some so bad I couldn't even listen to them. Idk where the problem lies, if it's in the upload or what but it's annoying. I'm listening on an Android device and it's never been a problem before but it's occurring more & more.

Love the app but sometimes it won't download podcasts when I haven't changed any settings. The latest update is awful. For a long time this app worked well then it would crash randomly or stop playing podcasts. Constantly sending feedback to the creator. Just go get a better podcast app like podcast addict

Stuff to like, stuff to improve. I like the continuous playback (wish for an off/on option). The playlist feature doesn't make sense to me for podcast format; I'd rather have the ability to queue items. It's a decent app, but it frustrates me. If it is paused or stopped, it has a startling and semi-consistent habit of turning itself back on after a seemingly random amount of time. Occasionally it just skips around or ends the podcast abruptly, advancing to the next episode. The free version ads are annoying, obtrusive and frequent. If things were improved, I would consider paying for a one-time purchase, but I could never consider a recurring fee for it as a service.

I'd give 5 stars based on my previous months of experience with this app, however the past month or so has been less than stellar. My podcasts used to update automatically when a new episode would drop, now I have to refresh and refresh some more before episodes will show up as available. Today, numerous episodes from different podcasts will not play due to a "broken source." One episode giving this message is one I had started yesterday with no issues and now will not play.

In general I like the layout of Castbox. However, I can no longer find the Delete button used to delete all the podcasts that I have highlighted. Also, I have never been able to get the option to work that automatically deletes an old podcast episode when a new episode has been downloaded. Instead, i have to delete old episodes by hand.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can recommend this app. 1). The app uses so much battery it's absurd. Maybe it's a problem with my phone, but watching a 1080 60fps video on Youtube uses less than HALF the battery of this app. 2). The app crashes constantly and it's totally random what seems to cause it. 3). Randomly pauses constantly. 4). Doesn't seems to remember where you last left off of you're playing a downloaded episode. 5). Overall very slow and struggles to perform any function.

The app is solid, but the ads use way too much data. Every time I unlock my phone while the player is up, a full video ad starts playing. I've never once streamed audio over my mobile network, yet this app managed to use over 200 MB in one day. It has used 540 MB in about 3 weeks of usage. That's over $5 of data. For ads. I could have used that money to buy an ad-free podcast player. It's a shame because I actually enjoy this app.

Not intuitive. Once player is open, it's difficult to navigate to show description. Logging out or in is not intuitive. This is all fairly frustrating especially with an app I use while in the car or on the go like so many people. Unsubscribing to a podcast also not intuitive. I do like that my new phone offers a widget that I can keep on my home page.

I've never had a problem with this app. I download all my podcast, create a playlist, then download some more. It does what I need it to do! Although the recent ad pop ups are a bit annoying especially when I'm driving and quickly need to select a new podcast. It would be cool if the ads were just a banner rather than the whole page, or just popped up when searching.

This is an awesome app. I've tried just about every app there is. This is my favorite one by far. It's very user-friendly. I love the Network's feature where you can go find podcast under the individual Networks. I also love if you go into personal and go to cast smart that you can earn free months on premium.

Updated review. I have had this app for a while and it is pretty great. My only thing is it quits out all the time. Alarm goes off, turns off. Get a phone call and ignore it, turns off. The worst is it will turn off randomly. No rhym or reason, just turns off. Very annoying when you are cooking and have to wash you hands to open this app.

Edited and lowered because recent updates made this app really buggy. 1. When cast to a chromecast audio device stream gets out of sync and uncontrollable. It's related to the Castbox's video/image ads, because it wasn't an issue before. 2. Pre-Downloaded shows were not playing from the downloaded file. Show was downloaded, but was being streamed with my mobile data anyway. Controls and organization are good, but until the above are fixed, I can't recommend.

editting review/new issue: this app uses an absurd amount of data (for ads, im assuming). I download all my episodes and never stream them over data, yet in 7 days of my bill cycle I've used 600 MB of data, and over 3 GB over the past 2 months. it's too bad because i really enjoy most of the features on Castbox, but i listen to most of my podcasts on the bus (when im often browsing social media)and literally have to turn off data every time i use this app, so ill be looking elsewhere now,i guess

Love it!...I take back my "Love it". It turns out Castbox has succumbed to the advertisement trend. At every manipulation of the app there's advertisement. Click Library= advertisement before getting there. Click Downloads= advertisement before getting there. I'm looking for another app.

I have enjoyed this app for a good while but now I am having problems. I kept a downloaded playlist of mixed podcasts which I listened to one after another overnight, adding and subtracting podcasts the next day. When one podcast ended it would play the next and so on. Recently it has started playing the first chosen podcast and then stops, which is extremely frustrating. Note This issue was sorted ages ago now and I've been enjoying the app every day since then. It's very good!

I must change my review FOR THE THIRD TIME and remove yet another star. I don't think I've ever given anything one star before, but Castbox has found even more creative ways to descend into unusability with its nakedly deceitful and shifting UI. Initial impression was positive, but the more it's used, the more it vexes the user. Although its presentation appears thought out, this is yet another ruse to trick you into clicking on one of their ads instead of one of your casts. Stop it.

many many features and options this app has. one flaw, even after reinstalls, is that, often, the podcast that you are playing, goes into hiding and you can not see the banner down the bottom so when u want to stop or forward etc, you have to go back to the main menu to refind the podcast audio that is playing. very good interface overall. have tried many podcast apps, seems to be the most robust and also seems to have all podcasts imaginable listed from australia and united states.

I've used this app for years and it's been the best podcast app I've ever had. I've tried just about every app out there and it's bar none, the best there is. Until now... Sadly, the ads have become too much for me to deal with. If there was a one-time payment option, I'd do it without question, but I'm not doing a subscription when there are other options out there, even if I do love Castbox. Guess this is goodbye, it's been real Castbox ✌🏻

Ads have become too much. Switching between feeds has a pop up that goes full screen. App also "glitches" the audio which causes a rewind or fast forward for roughly 30 seconds. RSS feeds that have updated requires you to manually unsubscribe then resubscribe to the same podcast to keep the feed fresh. This app use to be solid, reliable, and with managable ads. Now it's just annoying and broken.

Way too many ads placed way too prominently for podcasts I would never listen to, but that's not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that somehow the app continues to use mobile data to stream podcasts, even though I have all mobile usage turned off in the settings. It's absurd to have a setting to disable mobile usage and then let the app ignore it.

I adore the app itself but recently the ads have been getting out of hand. I have to watch an add to open the app, another to see my downloads, and yet another to listen to my chosen episode. I understand that this is a free app and this is how the company makes money but there is a balance that is now tipped toward almost being too annoying.

Since I started listening to podcasts this is the only app that I've stuck with because it's just that good. The only annoyance is the Playlists. I wish I could select an episode to play next and rearrange my currently playing list like music apps. It just needs to be revamped so that it offers a more fulfilling experience.

It took many iterations to get to this point, but this is the best podcast app out there. It has all the features that you need in a podcast app. I can only find one issue. When the download screen loses focus, all the downloads fail. I'm sure they can solve this issue easily. Also, when creating a play list off-line none of the metadata is transferred to the playlist dataset. Thanks for this great app.

When I first downloaded this app it was awesome, I had no complaints and recommended it to everyone who was looking for a new app to listen to their podcasts on. A few weeks ago I get a notification that if I pay I can get ad free but it was always ad free before? Now I get an add before and after I do anything. It will randomly stop playing constantly and I have to sit through an ad before I can get back into the podcast episode listand scroll through to find the episode I was listening to.

Mostly has been a great app so far for a year or so. Unfortunately the latest update has taken a turn for the worse. 1. Way too many ads. 2. The auto-delete doesn't work anymore. I have episodes that I listened to days ago that are still there in my downloads. Disabled and enabled "auto-delete episodes after 1hr" multiple times, to no avail. Just have to do it manually. 3. Playlists feature still needs a lot more work. It's still not good enough for me to use it, I just play them directly.

This app has some great functionality, but lately it's been eating a ton of mobile data. It's somehow used 100MB this month despite all my settings restricting streaming over data. I'm sitting on a train right now watching my data counter tick up while doing nothing but listening to an episode I supposedly already downloaded. This might have something to do with all the video ads I've been seeing lately. I pay per GB for data, so this is pretty annoying.

My experience with the app is an all right one it, is a good app and it's one of the better podcast players you can find out there that is free, but I've been having a lot of unknown error when I try to listen to certain podcasts that are lengthy compared to others. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon rather than later I'll move my 3 up to a 5

Will blow out your data usage. I very carefully monitor my data. I used castbox for about 20-30mins during my drive, every other day or so. In about 2 weeks castbox used 3GB of data despite being set to only use wifi.. how is that even possible? Unless you are streaming audio at a bitrate that rivals 720P video, castbox is probably leaking data to a third party at an astronomical rate. Someone should dig into this asap and see what they are sending, and to whom. Something is dirty here.

The ads are unobtrusive and it does play podcasts, so those are two positives. Unfortunately there are a host of annoyances that make it unfit for purpose. The lock screen is a fudge - you need to try to unlock with pattern to get it to work with fingerprint, and it not only writes over Google maps but turns it off entirely. The notification disappears if you hit clear all - unlike the majority of players for music or podcasts. And finally, downloading is inconsistent and seems spotty.

Has podcasts, plays while phone is locked, auto pauses when headphones come unplugged or bluetooth disconnects. Does its job flawlessly.

Works well, EXCEPT WHEN YOU NEED IT THE MOST, at 36,000 ft on an airplane. Even when U download multiple podcasts at the boarding gate. Without an internet connection you cannot access the podcast. Just the circle of wait giving you the middle finger. Back at the next airport when you get an internet connection yes I see all those green check marks that I couldn't listen to Iat 36,000 ft well done Podcast.

Uses too much mobile data even when you've downloaded episodes. At first I couldn't figure it out. This app was using tons of mobile data even when I'd set all the settings to restrict it. What happens is that it streams video ads even when you have streaming restricted. Either delete the app or listen in airplane mode. Those are your options. Too bad because besides that, it's pretty good.
