be careful about this app, they deduct your money without any notice or alert. you can't see your next billing, your credit card info and even not any easy page to cancel your subscription. they refer to some terms and conditions and deduct as much as they want. I'm struggling with them for my money but they're saying we can't refund your money!

download I might have liked it but now I don't. I had used the app a year ago and paid for the service which wasn't that great. Beware that The company will not let you know when it will renew again so they will charge you without warning and make it clear they will not give your money back. If you had used an apple device to purchase software and had cancelled on an Android beware and make sure your account is cancelled. This is the reason I have now switched to another language learning service.

I've been using Busuu to learn Japanese and many of my comments are echoed by other users. For some context, I've used a number of Japanese learning apps before and would consider myself to be at an intermediate level. - After the initial beginner lessons, there isn't much explanation, a lot of the lessons are just learning new vocabulary rather than any kind of grammar. - Many of the new vocab word choices are bizarre, for example one recent lesson on art had the word for 'impressionist' which is so incredibly specific I can imagine never needing to use it. Whereas more common words (e.g. 'artist') aren't included. - Way too many katakana / loan words. Obviously it's good to know these, but sometimes these are the majority of words and like many loan words they're often easily guessable. And again, they're often incredibly specific e.g. the word for 'off-season'. - Imprecise translations. These range from missing (I think) some of the nuance, to just straight up adding words that aren't in the original Japanese. For example 'you can eat as much as you like' gets translated to 'you can eat as much cake as you like', even though the word 'cake' isn't in there in Japanese at all! This all obviously only applies to the Japanese version, other languages may be better (and my feeling is that for apps that try and teach a lot of languages, the European languages tend to be taught much better). Overall I'd recommend finding a dedicated Japanese learning app.

I find this app very helpful in learning German, Russian and improving my English skills. Community is nice and helpful, The premium option is worth it in comparison to private lessons. I found some problems such as disappearing someone's country name under text in the community section and the notifications appear at the same level as choice options do. Despite that the app works very well and the improvement in language is fast and awesome.

Lessons flow nicely at first and the community feedback is great. Would like to see English translations once you've answered as it would make it easier to learn vocab. Also in the later lessons (76 onward) you get random kanji you haven't learned yet thrown into sentences which makes the learning curve turn into an overhang. Honestly getting sick of getting asked to translate stuff I havent been taught yet. It's guesswork and not learning at that point so why bother?

I love the app. Very easy to use with a good variety of languages. I like the community section for helping other learners and getting help on the exercises you post. Being able to add friends or report someone, if they are being rude is a nice touch and being able to interact with other users is excellent. My biggest problem with i think you should remove is the 👎 button as this is not helpful and sometimes demoralising. I correct a lot of exercises and always get good feedback.

It could be ok for beginners, maybe English course is good, but... I learn advanced German, and I don't see any progress with Busuu. I see next flows: 1. Review words are selected really poorly. If I started a lesson, but don't end it, I still get words from it in my review. Basically I don't remember, what I've learned two days ago. 2. Words review is done without any context, verbs are only infinitives, not all nouns have articles, and this is important for German language. 3. You really think I need "science fiction" and "E-Book" in my German vocabulary? 4. There is no typos handling. 5. In examples many sentences are translated to English in a "book" manner, so some words could be missed. 6. I really don't see any benefits from Premium. Client support is great, though. But we are talking about app as learning tool itself. I would suggest to change reviewing algorithms. Spaced repetition is one way to go. It would be nice to rid of unnesseary topics in German course. And every lesson defenitely need more quizes.

The Japanese was explained very well, but only under the 113th lesson. After that, it became very bad, the same pattern every single lesson, throwing many random kanji at once, using it in the dialogue and repeating that in the next lesson until the end, without explaining anything.. :/ The dialogues also use words and grammar that weren't explained in previous lessons, so it's very difficult to understand.

I support Busuu project to preserve language less spoken. I strongly hope you can conside adding a Chinese course in traditional characters. Traditional characters are so important in Chinese culture and only through learning them, one can understand the past, the old books. So I put less stars just to get your attention. Thanks.

It's fun, however I can't access the revision. After clicking on it the whole app just shuts down. It's very annoying to say the least because now I have to take screenshots of the words I don't know. It's even more annoying, knowing that o spent good money on the subscription

It's very nice app, exactly at memorizing words, but from my experience to learn Turkish there were a disadvantage that they ask from us to memorize a complete sentence, and even without have studied the rules yat ! I am disappointed because this point and I hope they put more suitable plan for the beginners.

  12. Ashley Johnston-avatar

The app has the fundamentals but lacks the basics that actually help learn another language. Without the use of a translator app I wouldn't learn much. It lacks: having click able words to show their translation/sounds. If you're stuck there's no help. - correct/incorrect answers not advising why it is what it is. No explanations for answers, wrong or right. A brief explanation of either would help understand answers - very very few speaking lessons and even fewer actual conversation lessons

I used Busuu back in 2011-2012 on their website. The courses were all free then and I met a lot of friends from around the world. I was studying Italian, Spanish, German, Turkish, and who knows what else. The exercises are similar to the old Busuu and I like interacting with natives. I tried Babbel and hated it, so I came back to Busuu. I paid for the premium features, but the free lessons were useful. The lessons are challenging and help me remember so much. Best language app👌🏽

  14. Abe Malley-avatar

I really enjoy the app but have some criticism. The challenges to put sentences together does not play the correct lines when you get it wrong. There should be a way to easily copy or select comments so I can Google translate them.

Bad service. I got charged for one year subscription by mistake. I contacted them the same day, but they refused to refund. However if you pay for the first time, you have 14 days to cancel your membership and get fully refunded!! So always use a new account, apparently they don't like loyal customers!

You know this app helped me a lot to improve my vocabulary, but personally,i was challenged my brother that i will be fluent in English without spending a penny so I've just tried this app after that i was madly love with this app. Yesterday my whole lesson was completed and i can't study more and i didn't have any other lessons to study. After using this app I'm not comfortable in any other apps so i don't know what to do next, now i really hate learning English without this app😔😔😔😔

  17. Hannah-avatar

App was fine but gives no option to set a level of fluency for a language. I wanted to use it to practice and better my already fluent Spanish but it insisted on starting me at a basic and boring level. Needs to have an assessment of fluency function or just allow you to set your own level at the very least

I bought this only primarily for the conversations. There are so many inaccuracies in the Russian course, this work was not done by natives. At the start it deceives u into thinking that the app is good, cause the first 30 lessons max are only good, after that u study on ur own because this doesn't help u learn.

  20. Andres Rodriguez-avatar

    Andres Rodriguez

EDIT MARCH 17 2021: I was logged out suddenly and couldn't log in again; reinstalling the App was the only fix. Busuu allows you to expand your vocabulary, practice your writing and listening, get corrections from a network of native-speakers, and even apply for official language level certificates (after passing specific exams). The live feedback from a worldwide community of native speakers is also great. Some voice recordings could be improved (for the asking price).

  21. Paul-avatar

It would be greater if they improved the French cours with more things like the English cours : Learn English with The Economist, why wouldn't there be : Learn French with Le monde? It would be greater. And if they added a feature for memorizing words/phrases/grammar such as that of Memrise i guess it'll be even more beautiful, because i think the memorizing technique that Busuu applies isn't as effective as that of Memrise.

  22. Nil Bezerra-avatar

On this moment, I am so happy with Busuu. I just noticed one point: english speakers dont correct our audios. Busuu should improve some methods for estimilulating conversations and corrections among students too. Everyone need to talk on your chosen language. On the case someone wants to fast your skills, the people may contract personal conversation classes.

This app is very helpful and so easy to use .I have only 2 days experience of busuu but whatever I like this app because very helpful for the Student group But I think this app may not affordable for the Student and Suppose I want teach 2 or more language to learn but can't teach because of the primium So I want to teach 2 or more language but I cant learn and I have lot of friends but every time busuu app shown me "we are sorry, you don't have any correction to correct that languge you speak"

I really like this app since learning languages is easy in it, but when ever I wanna buy premium and pay for it, it errors and says you're offline however it isn't like this. I don't know what should I do! I can't continue learning like this.😢

Is just an amazing app, no intrusive adds, im using several apps now to learn russian ( quarantine stuff) and of all the apps that I've been using, and I use almost every single one out there , I recommend this one for sure, with memrise and dualingo.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY - CHARGED EVEN THOUGH I CANCELLED GOOGLE PAY SUBCRIPTION I was learning arabic and turkish and bought premium nothing there. My subscription is not active anywhere - payed orignally by google play and then cancelled (should cancel as it says on website) & its not under my subscriptions and never payed by paypal so it doesnt show it. Also didnt pay by via the app but checked THERES NO OPTION TO CANCEL IT (says on website can) but only states the subscription no cancel option!

That's good application. But in German and Turkish language has some mistakes , for example some sentence you can answer 2 or 3 types and all of them are true, but there you have to try to find Busuu's answer

I would rate this App higher if I had received better customer service. My subscription renewed recently and for some reason I was logged out and the App will not accept my Google password, which has not changed. Also I've tried numerous times to obtain the reset link with no success. I've emailed support and although they responded, I have yet to get the link. Really disappointed, because I like this language App and have used it for about 2 years.

I've had a Premium Plus subscription for about a year, but I've had to drop my original rating by two stars. This is my favorite language learning app, but there are two things that really make me consider switching to a new one. For one, the Spanish course is geared towards those who live in Spain, and I wish they would tailor one for LATAM. For two, it marks you wrong even when you just miss one letter, and they don't accept alternate translations, even if they mean the same thing. Please fix.

I've used Busuu for a year now. I recommend this app. I started with the free plan and eventually migrated to the paid plan. I do not regret it one bit. The app is a great teacher. I would recommend watching media and reading books in the language you are learning, it really complements the way Busuu teaches especially if learning a language nobody speaks around you. There is also the social element where you can get help from native speakers and you help people in a language you can talk

I have the paid version, and I enjoy the full package, the most prominent feature of which is the neat, detailed Grammar lessons, which, myself being a teacher, I only but greatly praise and appreciate. In addition to all this, the idea of the Community, with learners from around the world correcting each other, is superb!

  42. Jayla Jonas-avatar

I've enjoyed the app for the most part, but I would say in the past month and a half the words that I've already learned in past lessons ( and were in the green section of what we learned, need to learn, etc) keep appearing in the yellow section. One mintute I'm at I've learned 700+ words, the mintute the number changes because the app glitches.

BE CAREFUL. They have a tricky premium account payment policy. They don't tell you that your subscription is coming to end and payment is being taken off automatically. If you bought a premium account with a discount then your next payment will be 100% (no discount).

I like the app but, I would suggest if I could learn individual words pronunciation. I loved the way it provide grammar knowledge, exercises and, it connects us with the community so that we could understand it from native vocals too( this helps me most in learning). Overall, it is a perfect and affordable platform for language learning 🙂🙂.

This is one of the best leaning apps that I've tried so far! What you learn since the beginning is something that you can really use on a daily basis and not just some random words like "boy, girl, tree, etc" that keeps repeating for many classes. The premium is also very accessible. I would give 4.5 stars if possible, even 5 if there's a feedback feature. I finished an exercise where the answer does not match with the audio. Other than that, I recommend it.

I love Busuu so much. It's great for beginners and also intermediate (my level). On that basis I assume also it's great for advanced level learners. I got 1 month of premium plus free so I could practice both Portuguese and Spanish simultaneously. I think the full price is quite expensive but they have special offers on regularly and I would highly recommend. I am a proud paid member of the premium plus subscription.

The process to cancel subscription is intentionally made difficult. This is not a serious company. For example: - You cannot move on without telling them why you quit. - After confirming you want to quit multiple times (by which time the contract should already be legally cancelled) they'll still charge you unless you pass through even more screens of "what you'll miss" etc. - The buttons for "changing your mind" are large and green, the ones for confirming are small and background colored.

  51. AU Link-avatar

Does not customize how you learn. I only want to learn to speak a language but most of the classes is how to read and write a language. Also did not give me an alphabet to learn from or any kind of support. It asks you to type in a language, but if your keyword is not setup to type in that language you fail the lesson. I liked the way the course went for the speaking portion when it worked had multiple portions not load the audio. But it is what it is.

  52. ArtRobot-avatar

Not great for beginners and obviously not good as an only source of language education. The overemphasis on spelling and new character recognition from the start is discouraging and counter to language acquisition. I liked other lessons, especially pronunciation explanation that went beyond voice recording. That's something I don't see in other apps.

Very good value. I got the best value from using the free version (weekly/monthly) of competitors then finally waiting for a 60% off sale with Busuu (do not know if it appears by helping others). This app has a community that doesn't require payment to help you with your learned language and the locked away features ARE better when you have some experience with your chosen language to learn. I'm learning French/Français with the help of Google's keyboard for B1 competency. Busuu est bien. Merçi

I miss old Busuu! I used to use Busuu 10 years ago and I really liked it's way of motivating the learning process with busuuberries also at that time you could chat and interact with people. After a long time I came back to learn languages again and I bought Premium thinking that I could get an awesome experience, as 10 years ago, but I'm really disappointed now, lessons are very short, not much people correct your exercises, you can't chat with anyone, it's very boring! It's a waste of money.

First few months were great and then recently I wanted to get back into learning languages because they were even sending me emails, encouraging me to return. Turns out they deleted my account. I then proceeded to do steps to recover it with a password reset but no email came. I wanted to sign up again but they said I have an account yet they won't let me access such account nor let me reset the password. Gutted. Update: Managed to recover account through quick support team.

I'm using this app to learn French. I found its more engaging than duolingo, it does not spend quite as long repeating the same vocabulary. I would prefer if there was more focus on pronunciation and less on spelling. It's much more important to me to be understood speaking French, than to have correct spelling, since my spelling is usually good enough to be understood.

  57. Stephen Mullen-avatar

First and foremost, I usually never write how I feel for an app, I just put down a number of stars and that's it. However, Busuu definitely deserves more than that. I can say with confidence that I have learned a lot from Busuu, as I have only been using it for a week and already I am noticing that I am learning fast. If you are someone that wants to learn a language, definitely give Busuu a try. On a final note, the premium price is also very cheap as well, so do take full advantage of that.

I've started learning Japanese just a bit over a month ago with Busuu and I'm super happy with my results so far. My only issue with the app so far is a UX/technical issue with Bluetooth. When an audio clip plays, I don't hear it the first time and I have to replay it (sometimes a few times) before I hear the word / sentence being read. Hopefully this gets fixed soon as it's the only downside for me right now.

Hi, I cancelled my subscription to the main app a long time ago, and I thought that's all I needed. Please refund the subscription to the premium service. I never wanted to keep both subscriptions. Also, please consider handling both fees in a single subscription, as it seems underhanded to have more than one subscription for a single service. It seems like you're hoping people who cancel the main service will fail to cancel the second one.

99% awesome. The -1% is the podcast/video. It says watch but no video plays. Just a black screen. Then they talk so fast I inevitably blow the "what are they talking about" quiz afterwards. I do have a paid version and I have recommended the app to friends. All in all 👍.

I've paid for premium and the app has been working well for me. I'm happy with the content and level. However, I'm really cheesed off with the 'correct your weak grammar' part which I have completed in full 50 or more times with 1 error or perfectly each time. It still appears with the same examples over and over and over......... It is now at the point where I'm starting to question it as a learning resource as it is disheartening to keep seeing this message

It's a very good app. The lessons teach you why sentences are structured certain ways, it teaches you why two words have the same meaning, teaches you how a words meaning changes. It's really great. On top of all that you can get help from native speakers. However, I don't like that to finish a lesson you must pay for premium. I feel premium is worth it, however some like me can't afford it. All and all I feel it is a great app and you can't go wrong with using it.

Oh my moly, THIS APP IS AMAZING, this is not a fake post, this is a real post, you have got to try this app, it definitely helps me, and it will help you learn, if your not sure how to pronounce something, you can hold down the audio button and it will go slow, and it does help me. I seriously reccomend this app, the creators did a amazing job, you can also makse some text post of a sentance, and get corrections from native speakers. Download this app NOW PLEASE

Great app, love it, it has helped me to learn a lot. And suddenly my friend requests are back 😁 One day some weeks ago I couldn't see them anymore, now I can. It would be very nice if the notifications, when you're in the app, would appear on the top instead of bottom, sometimes you click on them accidentally and lost your progress on the lesson.

This is a good app to learn languages like French, Spanish or Italian, but absolutely useless if you want to learn Arabic ( they don't teach the alphabet so you can't progress past the second lesson if you don't already know how to read and write in Arabic) and not so great to learn Russian as the grammar explanation quickly stop after a few lessons, making it impossible to understand how the language works. Customer service also not very helpful.

This application is excellent! Simple yet useful to level up my languages skills. There are many variation of exercises with dialogue and text. I think I can learn many skills here! You can also correcting others sentences and also get correction from the native as well! Such a brilliant language learning app! Very addicting.

Surprisingly good for language learning. The only thing I can't figure out is how to access the placement test for a second language. Edit: dropped a couple of stars since (1) it keeps bugging me to set up paid lessons and (2) the lessons can be rather unimaginative, especially the "mark each others work" community part. Also, audio bugs.

It's a good app, very intuitive and thanks to the community it keeps you engage. I would be great to being able to have some back and forth with ppl, like messages or conversations based on topics. Anyway, the only issue is with the audio. After the last update it doesn't work properly.

Great app, easy to use, the exercises are well desgined and effective. Overall I'm enjoying the learning experience and I believe it to be better compared to the competitors. I also have to state that I've always use the paid plan, Premium Plus I think (?). Hope my genuine review will help you choose :)

Busuu runs pretty well even on my old phone, and has been pretty good at teaching me Japanese vocabulary. They even have a browser version for when you're on a PC. Unfortunately, important things like practice quizzes and context practice are locked behind a paywall. I guess there's a reason a certain Owl app is still popular.

Not happy (updated), lessons stop at Intermediate level and then you have to buy one on one coaching at additional cost. They only offer a 14 day trial period and it takes longer than that to discover the limitation. I complained 21 days after joining, a week after being charged my annual subscription, and they refused to consider a refund. Very poor.

  73. Nikita Belooussov-avatar

    Nikita Belooussov

The lessons seem to be okay and the community is a nice idea. The main issue i have is that so many lessons are behind the pay wall. It would have much better to have those lessons behind some ads or something like that, so if people didn't want to watch ads they could skip those lessons or pay and the ones that still wanted access they could watch the ads. I currently just get the feeling that most of the learning happens in those lessons but nothing in the app actually proves this.

I would give it 5 stars but I haven't completed my entire learning experience. So far I give it 4 stars because everything I've learned so far on the app is accurate to the way they actually speak. I'm learning Japanese and am surrounding myself in it, this app gave me a good idea of what to look for and what I'll possibly be learning. But I can only say this for Japanese as some languages have less lessons overall. I would recommend premium, its good for your money. I have premium.

Would be higher stars but response to my support ticket was awful. I've been using it for awhile and like the lessons but don't bother paying. I've had exercises up for a week with zero feedback. Despite the apparent priority paid subscribers have. Busuu's advice? Send it to friends as otherwise exercises are lost. So what is my subscription for? Honestly, don't bother paying. You do not get what is promised in return at all. Save your money for an app that does as it says.

Very nice app, i love the interface , simple and fun to learn. Hope I can learn Thai language by this app in the future. Edit on 15 February : I discovered a problem recently is the audio can't be played correctly, the first time it played has no sound, hope developer can fix this bug as soon as possible

  77. thrillking722-avatar

I have a bit of an issue with the audio playback. While studying Japanese, the audio initially cuts off for every slide and I have to manually replay it to hear the phrasing. Nothing deal breaking, just bringing attention to a potential bug in the software. Edit: it primarily does is when you press the romaji remover button in the top right, but still bugs out with romaji from time to time. As a premium user, I'd very much appreciate this bug was fixed.

I only tried Busuu for the first time yesterday. Was very impressed. Decided today to purchase the premium plan. The description page made it appear that speaking to native speakers of your chosen language was included in the plan. *After* paying, I find out that you have to pay more to book a live lesson. One lesson's $15.99 per lesson, five lessons is $12.20 per lesson and three lessons is $14.00 per lesson *in addition to* what you're paying for the premium plan. Feels very bait and switch. I have to remove a star for that. May update my review and rating later but for now, definitely removing a star.

Pretty good, love the social aspect. Two small gripes, first, I'm learning Japanese and when inputting answers in romaji, the app insists on spaces between words. You get the answers wrong even if the spelling is right. It's confusing because if I was to type out on a Japanese keyboard, there would be no spaces (or so I have learned). Second, unless you reload after reviewing (you have weak words to review today), you can get stuck in a loop. Otherwise, I like this. Subbed.

Beautifully designed app and the social component is great. However there a lot of bugs in the test algorithm. Vocabulary test is a joke to be honest, if you review the words you learned in all previous 20+ lectures it keeps asking you the same words. There is no gradual increase in complexity in testing, in fact it seems completely random. jumps from ridiculously complex formal statements to "Hello!"

Pretty fun, and easy to comprehend. I would have to say it has a way of keeping you engaged to progress more. I am only been using a few days and have learned a bit of Portuguese. Try it out a few days and you will wander if the free version is this good, how emersive could the full version be. 😁. I give a 4 star, but if i rwach my goal by their estimated time i will give a "6 star" rating.... (Stay tuned)

Cheap, real cheap.. Premium membership for taking part in a quiz even at lowest levels making it a joke of a learning app. I generally avoid those because of poor experience but someone recommended this. Well free 7 days and then 7 quid for a month for a quiz and lesson plan, no thank you. You'd be better off buying books as the level selected in the app said it would take 2 years 7£x24 = not worth it..

I like this app, because it helps me learn faster than others I've tried, but I don't like being in a competition with others, or the constant notifications about it. It sucks the fun out of learning for me and then I'm struggling because I feel like I should be going faster, when I'm just trying to learn the right way.

Please fix the microphone! The voice recognition is ridiculously buggy. There are occasions where it won't pick up anything. It's a verry good app, with many repetition for you to memorize the words, translation and some explication for the grammar part, but if you want to continue learning you have to pay, so it's not a free app, like you would think when you see this in Google Play Store.

Blah.. Subscribed to paid version first day, immediately wrote them explain a feature or to cancel, and no one got back at all. there's a feature I hate, one where your answer gets sent to a buusu community member to be checked, and certainly couldn't find a way to turn it off and I couldn't use app without using this feature. So I didn't use app again at all and still ended up having to pay. How's that for Customer Service?!

It's a great app, but the costumer service is outdated and you make no attempt to remind me of any subscription renewal!! i was billed my yearly subscription, and i asked for a refund only in the same day and was denied!!! I feel insecure, for me it was an experience to learn a language no to take my money without remind me!!!!

  90. Sean0711-avatar

They fixed the issue with one of the lessons, it is now allowing me to complete 100%. I would like to add that the further into the learning, it is less immmersive. It literally just shows words and nothing to really help remeber the words. Was using the app.soley on it's own, but would need external help I.e youtube to develop any further.

It now works so I have updated. After buying a sub i can review it properly. It is mostly good but the speech recognition (German) is iffy. If i speak normally it doesn't work and even slowly not always. Then i repeat it exactly the same and it suddenly does. I understand German can be hard to pronounce but it won't recognise the most basic ones until I speak slower than I'm used to. It also tells me i am wrong when i am not but i gave a valid alternative. So only 3 stars.

If this review were strictly about content & features, this would be a 5-star app. But this review is about user experience, and the way this app HOUNDS you to upgrade to Premium to unlock additional content and features has actually ruined the UX for me. I would have considered supporting this app if the Premium ads weren't so obnoxious and pervasive. As it is, I'm deleting this app and leaving a negative review. Maybe they'll learn to let the content sell itself....

This is honestly the best. I did every German lesson on Duolingo but still didn't understand several core concepts because it's more of a memorization game. Busuu legitimately teaches you the grammar in an understandable way. It also makes it easy to connect to native speakers for language exchange.

This app is a great way to start learning new languages. My friend and I started learning Japanese and it is awesome! Pretty much does what it says on the tin. 4 stars because it is a coin flip whether or not audio files will play the 1st time or not. The ads are not obtrusive to me at all, but the reminders to upgrade to premium are slightly irritating. Edit: Switched it to 5 stars since Busuu's team replied about the issue. Also I forgot to mention that Busuu so far has been superior to Duolingo for me. Thanks!

If you are learning polish, stay away from this app. I just compared the polish course against german and french and the difference is shocking. In polish sample sentences, dialogues are depressingly difficult. They don't care a bit about pedagogy of it. C1 level sentences are presented constantly. Spaced repetition system is broken. Finally polish has 1/3 of the material. It is really a shame how they treat polish classes different

I'm learning German. You can correct English learners and get corrected by natives. Lessons are separated into A1, A2, B1, B2. When I was first trying to learn a completely new language I was skeptical that I could even do it. So I asked my friends and they all told me "try duolingo I've heard that it's pretty popular" but is popularity effectiveness? No. But what does help you learn a completely different language (japenese) is an app that tells you how to memorize the new words/phrases and an app that tells you the correct grammar. So I'd highly recommend anyone trying to learn most any language to use this app!

Update: The audio is acting strange now. It plays but with no sound. Why is the English version of this app fully featured but Spanish is limited? I noticed that you have all the grammar lessons available in the review section for English but with Spanish you only have up until A1. This can be interpreted that you feel English is superior to Spanish and it comes of a bit racist.

It's a really good app for learning foreign languages but it has some problems. Why are we not able to see some courses because we are not premium? There must be an explanation, so if learning is free then why can't we see some of the courses ???

All the grammar is locked behind a premium membership, making the rest virtually useless.

The placement test is really buggy. (French) Some questions are too vague, the timer is off-putting and the audio slider doesn't match the rate of audio. It keeps going when you pause it...

Good app to learn stuff a bit heavier and faster. Also Spanish is only Spain Spanish which is a bummer since the majority of the world's Spanish speakers are in Latin America. Spain Spanish is a bit different and not as helpful. I like this app as a supplemental practice app to Duolingo though.

I like this app. I'm learning Japanese and it's been great. However, I'm 30 letters into Hiragana and the lessons are now asking me to answer full sentences of Katakana and I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO PASS THEM.

Great app. Their method for memorising news words is really efficient, and the lessons are well-organised. My only complaint is that they should make the dark mode follow the system's settings.

The format is good but half of the lessons you have to buy premium for which is sad because bussu is a really fun app. i'm learning so much in a fun way I really recommend bussu. I wish that they would make more lessons free.
