Reviews From google play store

A little frustrated. The app was working great but recently it has started to randomly pause while playing audio. I hit play and it pauses playing again randomly after a few seconds or minutes. It's unpredictable when it will pause again. This is really annoying as I have to keep hitting play and rewinding to follow the content that I'm listening to. I paid for the premium version and disappointed that this issue is not being addressed. I have version 4.2.41

Nov 2019. It's the podcast app I use out of inertia but I wouldn't recommend. On my S8 it often lags to open. The widget only works about half the time and it freezes up to a degree that is unacceptable unless you've been using it for as long as I have and don't want to transport all your RSS feeds out. I love the layout compared to something like pocketcasts and that's the only reason I'm here.

I can't express how bad this player is. I have the paid version, been using for years, until Oct 2018 when update completely broke playback, especially over Bluetooth. Streaming podcasts constantly cuts out, erratic pauses, ends device Bluetooth connection, and demands constant attention. Often, I can't even get through a half hour playback without requiring addressing multiple problems. Sometimes, phone restart required. Devolper working on a fix for over a year, yet still nothing! Abominable!

I'm done. It WAS far and away my favorite pod app. Paid for it and all. It hasn't been updated in over a year and has a ton of bugs. I'd list them all but it's pointless, I've contacted the developers via the app and email and have never received word back. I'll miss BeyondPod but I'm moving on to someone that updates.

I have the full paid version, and there are some good things about this app, but there are also bad things. It is good at organizing podcasts and setting up playlists of what to play, and play next. That is good. However, no matter how I change the settings, the play buttons on my various headphones/speakers/car stereos, don't work. I can pause it but I cannot restart it. Also randomly it will pause on it's own, and again I have to unlock my phone and hit play to restart it. Also, there is a Chromecast function that simply does not work. I have tried it several times and audio fails to play, regardless of settings.

Love the app. But recently the app started to pause for no reason. This is on both a wired oe wireless headphones. Please fix. Update. I've noticed that if I keep the app open on it's own it wont pause. If I try to use other apps and run the app in the back, than the app will pause. Please fix immediately.

Works perfectly with the private feeds Ive seen, ads are pretty much non existent, but the UI is quirky as hell though, e.g. long pressing episodes selects episode two places down, menu button on far right is pretty inaccessible because it just focuses the scroll bar (but the existence of the scroll bar is appreciated). If you want a good UI experience, look towards Pocketcast, but this is good for restricted RSS feeds, possibly other niche cases.

Has been an excellent app. Until the last update I have had no issues with it. Recently though it will only play continuously while the app is the active program, it will stop playback after 30 seconds if running in the background as I'm using a different app. Annoying, hope this gets fixed on the next update. Otherwise have been a happy user for several years, this has been my only issue.

I've been a pro user for years (4+), and made sure all my friends were too. Now I just give feedback to other podcasting tools to adopt some of BPs features. The devs have abandoned this app. We've had no updates in the beta program or the main app for effectively a year. The random pausing issue has been there for a long time and the casting issue is just the cherry on top of all the other issues. Had a great run, but can no longer be my podcast app. I hope someday it may return to glory.

I bought the paid version and used it happily for several years. Unfortunately it started pausing every few seconds when using bluetooth audio which made it unusable. I disabled battery optimization for the app but this did not solve the problem, and a little searching shows that this problem has been around for three years or more. I will have to find a better replacement and try to update my played status on a few dozen podcasts. Not fun.

I've had this app for over two years now, paid for the full version too and generally I like the interface a lot. But it pauses every few minutes when playing over bluetooth. I contacted support and all they said was this is a known issue. That was six months ago and it's only getting worse, so I give up on this app. Don't recommend if you use bluetooth.

Typically a great podcast app, but it seems now that it just automatically pauses the podcast NUMEROUS times while listening. I've researched the issue and it seems to have been a known issue since 2018, but I've never so much as had an update pop up from the app. Kind of feels like the devs have stopped maintaining the app. I've used the app for so long that i don't really want to remake all my playlists, but I'm so frustrated with having to hit "play" every 10 seconds.

This was a 5 star app. The best podcast player that I no longer use. I liked this app so much that it is one of the few apps I have actually paid for the pro version. Then something happened and the updates stopped coming. Then the issues started to add up. When you look on the Forum you can see that they say it is being worked on but can not give a release date. Well I waited but I had to say goodby. I switched over to Podcast Republic.

This used to be the best podcast app, but it has gone down the tube. It is buggy as hell and freezes constantly. On my earphone, it will automatically pause after 10 minutes on the first listen. As of this morning it does the same on my car stereo. You will be listening to a podcast, pause it, and then it will decide to freeze. I have to restart my phone to make it function again. I tested it on my wife's phone as well, only to get the same results. No other apps give me problems. Sad.

I used to love this app. Sadly it doesn't look like it's been actively developed for almost a year. The cast function no longer work and it randomly pauses. This has something to do with it's focus/notification status. I really wish they would bring this back. Nobody else does the Smart Playlists which have become an important part of how I listen to podcasts.

Sadly still doesn't play reliably from the widget getting stuck loading feeds. Edit Another few months and still no fix. That's it after all these years I'm making the change to Pocketcasts its so much more stable and plays from my headphone switch and widget without fault. Shame as I still prefer the layout in beyondpod.

I've been using this app for years, since before Spotify really had any podcasts. I've paid the extra dollar or so a couple years ago to unlock the extra features. And while it does have a lot of great features that I love and a very good selection of podcasts, I would not recommend it to anyone because of the bugs. Some bugs have been around since I've started using it, but the most recent one I've run into has made it unusable. Stay away from this app, there's better options these days.

This was my podcast app for many years but it's clearly not being maintained with any care. Device sync stopped working a couple of years ago but no big deal for me. Terminal bug for me was just hanging on trying to play, whether through Bluetooth connecting or the widget, got fed up. Then pausing randomly since Android 10 upgrade. Moved to Pocket Casts and I'm happy again. I paid for this app and they don't care anymore, go elsewhere.

9.14.19: Ugh, it's been a year. And try as I might there is no comparable option for the super handy SmartPlay. Please update your app! 1.18.19: Been a paid user for years, this has been an amazing podcatcher, but the amount of bugs the past 6+ months has been too great for me to recommend this app. Will upgrade my score when the programmers fix the insane amount of issues that make the app almost unusable. Until then I'll be downgrading to version 4.2.18 which seems to be the last stable build.

Update: after the Android 10 update, this app no longer casts properly. It says it's connected but still plays audio on the phone. It's been almost a year since the last update so I think the devs have stopped supporting it. Since the October 2018 update the app has tons of issues. Mainly it force closes very often and times out when loading. This was a 5 star app and I paided for the unlock years ago. Now it is worthless. I had these bugs on a Samsung Galaxy S8 and now on a Pixel 2 XL.

I used the paid app for years during my commute 2-3 hours a day. It has been the standard bearer for podcast apps, but in late 2018, an android update caused the app to start behaving differently: no lock screen widget, pause via Bluetooth but not unpause, crashes. Today I found the cure for all of the issues: long press the icon, click App Info, click Notifications, enable Allow Notifications. The app once again has a lock screen widget and working via Bluetooth. Is working the way it used to!

I used to love this app, paid for the upgrade years ago and now I'm pretty sick of it pausing for no apparent reason. This is the only app that does this. I checked my settings, I'm allowing it too use background and I turned off the sleep setting and it continues to pause randomly. Until this is fixed I'm uninstalling it and downloading another podcast app.

Decent Pod catcher. I've only used it on my HTC U12+, but it's never crashed. It does take a seconds longer than expected to launch from time to time. I now listen to five podcasts, but it doesn't have all the podcasts I listen to. Interface is very easy to use, even for the free version.

After many years with BP it's time to go. latest update doesn't allow casting to Google devices - a major flaw. clearly this is affecting many people but the developers haven't sorted it out after many months. this was a great app, and i paid to go pro, but this latest issue is too much to bear.

This was my go-to podcast manager for years, but it hasn't been supported in over a year. Too bad as it was highly customizable and intuitive, but crashes too much now and isn't compatible with our Sonos system.

Love the interface with this app. Super easy to use. However over the last six months it is super glitchy. Won't cast, stops playing for no reason, won't play on my Bluetooth. Sad because this use to be a 5 star app.

While I have had this app for years, it now pauses everytime my screen closes. I cannot use the app now because I can't leave it playing with screen on. As frustrating as this malfunction is, I don't see any developer response to what is now a pile up of complaints in the review section in the PlayStore.

I purchased this app years ago and have been very happy with it until the past year or so. The app now seems to be bug ridden and locks up or doesn't work most of the time, which makes it mostly unusable. I would recommend looking for an alternative app at this time.

It's been nearly a year since the last update and there are know significant issues with podcasts pausing frequently during payback on Bluetooth speakers and it's been an issue apparently since 2018 with no fixes. It seems apparent that the developers have stopped supporting this app and I'm now going to switch to another app and uninstall this one.

Is this app supported anymore? It has shutdown issues, Bluetooth is glitchy and it doesn't support new Chromecast standards. It seems what used to be a great app has been abandoned. If the latest released is causing so many problems why not go back to the previous version until you figure it out? Or has this app truly been abandoned?

Abandonware - Used to be the best podcatcher, and is still the most elegant I've used. But it constantly locks up and seems to be grabbing focus from the player away from other apps when the other apps are playing music... RIP BeyondPod.

I really like the application when using it on my phone. Using it on Android Auto however, is often quite frustrating. When first starting the app, it seems like it never manages to load. I always have to start it on my phone for it to work.

I had been using this app for years, however recently the audio would inexplicably cut out. It's the only app that was doing this so I have switched to another app. I'm hoping this gets fixed because the podcast management of Beyond Pod is the best I've found.

Used to be great. Huge lag when opening the app. Frequent prompts from OS to wait or force close. Notification gets stuck while updating podcasts and stays in the notification bar until app is force stopped. I'm looking for alternatives. Podcast Addict is closest but doesn't do virtual podcasts in a way i like

Nice and intuitive interface. However, through different phones I have owned, the app has what seems to be a memory bug. As I open the app from the notification widget, the app goes all white and unresponsive while the notification switches to just display 'loading feed...'

Frequent crashes, frustrating base settings, and idiotic layout that constantly causes misclicks and incorrect feeds. I hate this app, and wish I hadn't wasted my time over the past few years with it. Even the paid version is terrible.

It's been a year since the app was updated and broke a bunch of functionality and there's been no update since then. On their support forum they just say that it was outsourced to a place overseas and they haven't been given any update on when the next release will be.

Been using this app for years. I've tried many others but nothing compares to BeyondPod. The interface can be a bit confusing to new users but the options and smart list are what make this app far superior to anything else I've tried.

I bought this years ago. I kept it even though it doesn't work properly. Example, it does not pause when i get a call. More problems are also present. So, i downloaded another pod cast app and it works way to well to look back. Bye beyond pod.

Used to be an amazing app. Now crashes all the time. Development appears to be abandoned, so no hope for a fix. But still the only podcast app with dynamic queue.

I've been a user of the pro (paid for) version for years and it has been excellent. However, for the past few months it keeps pausing. being a developer, I can see what the problem in minutes and use android auto as a work-around. so I'm deeply disappointed that they have not fixed this problem as quickly as the user community would like and I personally would have expected. I cannot in all good faith recommend this app which was excellent, but is now blighted by poor compatibility & support.

Used to be great but now pauses all the time over Bluetooth. Massively frustrating. 30/10/2019 - Issue still present. Horrific this morning. Please sort it out. It is present on more than one device thus not device related. End if November then I'm out.

This is still my favorite podcast app but it has gotten really buggy. Most of the time when it opens I get the "app isn't responding" prompt but it works fine. Also seems to be having issues with newer podcasts that I've added. Having said all of that it does do a lot of things right. Anything having to do with managing the podcasts (playback speeds, auto updates, playlists) is great!

I have a Galaxy S8+. Recently, BeyondPod has been repeatedly pausing, and sometimes crashing. This is annoying. I used to love this app, but the constant interruptions is driving me nuts. I'm a paid user.

I've been using this app for a few years now, and it's never let me down in terms of available podcasts, and playback quality. It does time out fairly often when downloading larger podcast files, and the widget no longer works very well, as it can't start replaying unless you enter the app and start the player, it won't work from the home screen, or the lock screen anymore.

Bought the full version a few years ago when it was an excellent fully functioning application. For the last few months at least, this app freezes at startup, or the audio playing constantly pauses randomly. From other recent reviews, this is a widespread issue with no support from the developer. Unfortunately, it seems this once excellent podcast player is now dead with no support. Find something else.

I've used this for years but today I am uninstalling it. It is just not keeping up to date with new podcasts, and recommends feeds that have not been updated for many years. Sorry beyondpod....need to keep relevant

Was a good app until recently. Tons of force closes but most recently, audio pauses every time my screen times out. I don't want to keep my screen on all day, and it's really annoying to have the audio pause every minute.

The sync notification persists after downloading is completed. I need to open the app, manually resync, and then wait for it to finish checking for podcast updates to make the notification icon go away. Another bug ... when I receive a text message, playback is interrupted and won't restart automatically. I need to hit play again. This isn't an issue with my other audio apps.

I've used the pro version for years and have recommended it often. Sadly, it seems the developers have stopped maintaining it. I have all the problems mentioned by other users: random pausing when connected to Bluetooth, using the widget causes the app to freeze, 'updating episodes' notifications at random times that sometimes slow the whole system, can't be dismissed, basically the app has been a mess for at least a year. Emailed them and they responded saying they were working on it. Avoid.

This was my favorite podcast app. The app doesn't allow my phone's screen timeout to work, which in turn drains my battery faster and is a security risk because the screen doesnt lock. I waited and waited for the app developer to fix the problem and played with the settings, but it still exists. I reluctantly uninstalled the app and I'm trying other options like castbox. Too bad, I liked BeyondPod and used it for years.

I paid for this app years ago and it was the best app I've ever bought. Clean, easy to navigate and reliable. UPDATE 10/1/2019. Having a major issue where the audio is pausing every minute or so, requiring pressing play manually

If you have problems with playback stopping, make sure that BeyondPod is not on the list of apps that can be put to sleep when running in the background. Usually found under battery settings.

I absolutely adore this podcast client. The category and feed breakdown suits the way I think about podcasts. I don't just want a sea of album art as my main view into my podcasts, and this goes above and beyond that. I have an issue, however. When refreshing feeds, the notification for the process often remains as the in-progress-download indicator even though the update has found 0 new episodes, as it reports. This used to consistently close itself but now often requires manual dismissal.

it used to be great, but since the last update it crashes regularly. I've used it on multiple phones and no matter which one i used, BeyondPod would crash while I'm listening to a podcast and I'd have to close it in the apps menu in order to get it to start again. i guess it's time to switch to Laughable or another app that isn't broken with a company that doesn't care about their products.

I've been using this app exclusively for at least 3 years, and it used to be great! Never had an issue. In the last few days, it has been randomly pausing. I tried troubleshooting, but nothing worked. I came here to get their contact information, but after reading other recent reviews it sounds like everyone else is having the same issue and it doesn't sound like it'll be getting solved anytime soon. I will be switching apps, I listen when I drive and having to deal with this is dangerous.

What I like: the interface is less cluttered and easier to navigate than most Android pidcast apps. What must change: I stream podcasts (not a ton of storage on my phone), and randomly and routinely podcasts stop during streaming ans then when I try to play them again they either dont play or there's a playback error. The continuous play of a playlist is suspect as well...sometimws the next one plays right away, sometimes after a minute or two, sometimes not at all.

Been using the paid version for years and loved it, but a series of updates late in 2018 seriously affected my enjoyment. It hangs when played from widget, doesn't work well with Android Auto and is unreliable when it comes to automatic downloads. I had trouble with it not playing the end of podcasts with no apparent pattern, but enabling variable speed playback fixed that. There've been no updates since last October, but I'm yet to find another catcher that does what BeyondPod used to so well.

it was great, then the developers ignored problems for months and years. It opens extremely slowly. it crashes right after opening. It doesn't load titles of episodes correctly. I'm uninstalling and looking for better options. I can't even remember how long ago I bought my copy and I'm sad that it's come to this point.

i really don't like that it: - constantly hangs while updating feeds. - randomly pauses downloads -even though not playing or in open apps list will activate itself and pause other music players(pandora, google) and try to play whatever you played last. I would like to have the speed up option(and would pay for it), but dont want to play for such a buggy pod player...

Meh. Okay, but should be better. My biggest issue is that all of the feeds are set to manual download, yet there is constantly a notification for "Loading feeds..." Why? The feeds are all set to manual loading, so there is nothing to load that I haven't triggered myself. However, if I have overlooked an automatic load, then load the damn feed and quick persisting the notification!

No good anymore, barely plays more than 10 seconds before pausing. I have spent thousands of hours listening to podcasts through this app so I guess I got my money's worth. Just a shame to loose my podcast history now that I have to switch.

Has begun pausing every time the screen times out. this used to be a great app and I am keeping it in Hope's that they see this new problem and fix it, but all of a sudden the damn podcast pauses every time the screen times out. So now I can't leave my phone in a locker while I sit in the sauna with my headphones. Now I can't listen to podcasts in the car without fiddling with my phone every few minutes. I don't know where this got screwed up, but they need to fix it fast before I move on!

Ive used this app for years before Google had a standard/official podcast app. It used to work great, so purchased the premium version and never needed to consider switching to another app. Everything was working great until Android O and P. Since the OS updates, BeyondPod has become very unstable, crashing, overusing RAM (mem leak?), and stalling across multiple devices. Its become unreliable and significantly impacting my phone's performance. I'm going to have to switch to Google's Podcast app

I love how you can listen to podcasts in different ways, either catch-up or latest and you can put together a playlist so you can build your own custom Radio station from pod casts you want. So you can binge or mix it up. Great controls for skipping ads, or replaying something you missed.

Pauses every few seconds when playing over bluetooth. no other apps do that so it's not the device. Too bad, it was great before this. If they fix it I will gladly re-review at 5 stars. update- Podcast Republic is a good alternative, but I like the UI of beyondpod better, I hope they fix it. The pausing problem seems to be widespread reading other reviews

After using this app for the better part of 8 years, enough is enough. The troubles started recently as failed updates resulted in my having to constantly restart the app, as any attempt to play a podcast from a widget or the pull down would crash the app. The final straw in the most recent update was the app intermittently pausing a podcast when it was played over Bluetooth. Incredibly disappointed in an app that was once the standard bearer for playing podcasts.

I paid for the unlocked version years ago... recently within the last year it stopped working and would crash frequently.. the app is now unusable and worthless.. DO NOT BUY!!! OR EVEN DOWNLOAD FOR FREE WASTE OF TIME

Casting has been broken since February of 2019, dev has not updated to latest Cast APIs. App also opens and downloads podcasts multiple times a day without user interaction even when instructed not to (removed all schedules). Phone is a fully patched Pixel 2 XL. Review the BeyondPod forums, I'd consider this application abandoned by the development team. Frustrated I bought the Pro version.

Used to be great. Now it pauses constantly during playback for no reason. This is an issue on the forums going back a couple of years and is still not fixed.

This was my favourite podcast app for years with a consistent 5 stars but it became unusable. It constantly needs to be force closed because it is going into a zombie state with a blank white screen when trying to resume playback of a podcast. I have now moved across to Pocket Casts and i wish i had moved sooner. i would urge anybody else experiencing freezes or slow downs in BeyondPod to switch to a different podcast app

This has been my go-to podcast app for years BUT... I've had to drop them. The player has a bug such that when other bluetooth devices ping my phone (smart locks, some cars), playback pauses when on bluetooth. If I'm using my earbuds anywhere near the house, playback pauses every minute. "Development is working on the issue"... for 6 months. No other player I've tried has this issue.

Paid user and it was the best podcast app. Now it's buggy and not working properly, and has not been updated in almost a year. Cannot recommend, nor can I recommend the developer. It's fine to stop supporting an app, but at least let people know so they can migrate away instead of just a abandoning it.

It appears that the developers are happily sipping frosty drinks on a sunny deck, and are ignoring the much needed updates to the app. What else could explain ignoring a paid app that was last released almost 1 year ago. The developers would like to thank all the paying members for supporting their retirement.

Just an update to an issue of podcast stopped playing while listening. After an uninstalling and reinstalling, the app has been working properly again. No more "stop playing" issues. Galaxy S10+

See update.... back to loving it! once, not so much. I don't understand what changed. I haven't installed anything recently. But tha app loses state and pauses the podcast I am listening to. annoying. looking fir a replacement app: Update... reset battery optimization its back to working like it should!!!

Used this app for a very long time. Loved it for years, was happy to get the paid version. Over the past year or so though, it's become more and more buggy and unusable. Used to be an absolute recommendation, but now it's just too full of bugs and it's not getting the development and maintenance it needs.

been using this for years then suddenly the app crashes when you pause for more than 5 minutes then hit play, then when you close it and swipe away the "player' in you icon bar it goes away then opens up the prigram again, crashes causing a pop up to interrupt whatever it is youbwere doing saying it crashed, you hist cllose and it starts working and updating the library and downloading titles off my data and not WiFi, i loved this app... but my podcasts are on Spotify and at least that app works.

Custom auto playlists, fairly intuitive interface. Intermittently buggy, and you have to force stop and restart. Overall recommend. I paid for the full version.

I've been a paid member for a few years now. The workflow seemed better in the earlier days. Video podcasts all seem to pause in the the 20-30 seconds for some reason. Still one of the better ones out there for Android though. Streamline the flow though, it's pretty painful.

I used to love it. After the most recent OS update, it keeps randomly pausing if the screen locks while connected to a bluetooth device or wired headphones. Verizon Galaxy S9

Long time user. On Android Q they player just stops. I have to go back to the player and press play again. Even if i leave the app open is still just stops.

Good when it works, but constantly just stops playing and/or closes for no reason. Only a mild inconvenience but constantly having to press start again and again is annoying

It works pretty well at most things, but it keeps randomly stopping playback, even with downloaded podcasts. This is very annoying.

used to be a great app. over the last 6 months. uodates have made it worse. it takes 10-20 sec to load, and now within the last two weekz it pauses the podcast (all types) every coiple of minutes. bought the Key. regret it. Going to switch to a different app

So much issue with the app recently. The sound is blurred. Tried to uninstall and reinstall 1 year ago but problem remaining. Very unpleasant.

I've used this podcast player for years. I cant take the constant crashing anymore. It was really good at one point, no longer

Constantly pauses itself for no reason. Buggy pile of junk. Been using it for years and the interface has never been that good but was useable. The last 10 months or so it has been almost unusable. I bought the paid version too...

not great. using it for years, but it takes forever to buffer while streaming and if you stop a streaming podcast and use another app it has to rebuffer again. it also freezes and crashes more than I'd like. been using pro version and think I'm ready to switch.

It's a great wee app. Does everything you need it to, but it loses 2 stars for me because I have to pay for pro every time I get a new phone. This is my third time now. Why is there not just a log in of some sort?? It also means I have to go add all my podcasts to my feed again.

This is probably my favorite apps. I use it everyday. It has every podcast I've ever searched for

Stops responding , pauses randomly. Fails to boot. This app was amazing, but that ended.

I love the way that I can controll the feeds individually. No issues with the app crashing and has a good easy to understand interface. I purchased the unlock key after about to unlock the features and loose the adds, well worth it. Highly recomend. Works well with bluetooth headset and automobile as well.

This used to be a great app but they no longer maintain it. Have to force stop the app or reboot for the last year after use otherwise it will keep popping up the player in notifications. I guess it is time to find a different app.

Used to be great, but it seems that it's been abandoned. Podcasts randomly pause, wishes stop working, and I have to force close it periodically to get it to function. I've switched to another app with most of BP's functionality.

Used to be great, but now it crashes constantly, refuses to dismiss the notification, and will randomly get into pausing fits.

Works great for podcasts. But constantly gets stuck in the background with "Loading feeds..." and won't stay closed out.

lately you click play and it takes several seconds to play, sometimes it launches to a white screen. most issues seem to be related to the widget. I had to delete the app and try another podcast app. wade fox these issues. I loved BeyondPod.

Notification is never there to pause or resume. It just disappeared first day and can never get it back.

You have a cast button. It connects. Then plays the media on the device you're casting from. Pull your game up people.
