I have tried, but this app just doesn't cut it. The maps are just ugly and confusing. I have tried to download different maps, but they are all bad. I was looking for maps similar to the ordinance survey maps or windy maps, but nothing of that sort to be found here. A major drawback is that maps aren't smooth when you move them and when you zoom in or out; they behave like you're using online maps with a slow connection, even though you have them downloaded. Pity, because the rest seams good.

  2. guest-avatar

v3.4.3 I've been using OsmAnd Unlimited for a couple of years now, and it is by far the best navigation app that i've used. It took me a while to get to know the app, as it has an amazing amount of different settings, but now I use it to record all my bicycle rides. I had to contact customer services recently, as I was having a problem, and they were very quick to get back to me, and solved my problem straight away.

  3. guest-avatar

osmand+ - offline travel maps & navigation v3.4.7 Great overall, but the zooming bug is really annoying, half of the time I cant see anything, then it reappears at level of zooming, the middle part is missing, google maps does a better job in this case. But the navigation is good, and sometimes its more detailed than google maps, also it is open source which is a good thing. Please fix the mentioned bug

  4. guest-avatar

osmand — offline travel maps & navigation apk I gave OsmAnd five stars for two reasons: 1) This is a great app. I use it for hiking and MTB and it has helped me find my way on numerous occasions. 2) The support is good. When I upgraded my phone I thought I had lost the use of OSM Unlimited and the contour lines plug-in that I had previously purchased. OSM support worked through the problem with me and it is all working now.

These are open source maps, so not every business is listed, but you can save and organize locations. When I find a place that I want to remember, but isn't listed in the app, I mark it as a favorite. I love the fact that it offers navigation for walking, biking, and public transport. Great for English language Android users in Beijing.

An amazing navigational app and location search tool! I love that I can see opening and closing times for places that have them updated on OSM. The interface is a bit daunting and takes a bit of practice/research to understand, but the online documentation for OSMAnd is wonderful as well, and after that learning curve it's an incredibly powerful tool. I use it any time I travel, and also to double check any updates I make to OSM!

The best thing - lane guidance even in my country. Lots of POIs. Maps are good. Bad things - initial theme is hideous, view doesn't rotate as you drive, so i have to adjust it manually. When it does decide to adjust, it sets itself horizontally even though my screen was set vertically.

The existence of Open Street Map is wonderful, and this app is a very useful interface for OSM. I've been using it for some years. I like to use it to track hikes for milage and route, and to see what points of interest (POI) are around, and I've used to navigate while driving when I didn't have mobile signal (e.g. in central PA and in Canada).... There are many options, which can be difficult to navigate at first, but you'll come to appreciate all the options.

  9. guest-avatar

I have used it for about a week now. In my car and on my motorcycle. The interface takes some time to get used too. There is a lot of information displayed in a very good, common sense way, but still a lot of info. That said, the navigation screen should have an option to display the map in a tilted almost 3D view, like Google Map does it. And the icon for the car or MC should be in the lower part of the screen, not the center. Other than that, awesome app.

  10. guest-avatar

There are several map rendering styles but unfortunately I was not able to find one that rendered the map in a way I liked for use when walking in GB. It is possible to create ones own rendering style which I have done but documentation on how to do so is appalling and support from OsmAnd was lacklustre. The map being based on Open Street Map data is limited to the quality of that data, so be careful about relying on it and please edit/add data on OSM to improve its quality.

For some reason I can never find an address. I have a difficult time using this. The map colours a too pastel for my liking, making it more challenging to read at a glance. It seems to ask work okay once I've spend more time than necessary entering a destination. 4 stars because it does work well. Maybe it's just me.

  12. guest-avatar

Would like to find out how to have the map set to the direction of travel I.e when travelling id like the road to face the in the direction the car is facing, if turning left i want the arrow to face left the return to actual direction of the car (in the up position) Good maps tho Fast response from the developers, nice to know they care

  13. guest-avatar

Amazing app. Stopped me getting lost pretty much everywhere I've been. Really user friendly. Use Osmand as my default navigation, regardless of internet connections or not. Way better than google maps. Have used to find my way thru jungle in Jamaica, up mountains in Japan and in small towns in Laos.

  14. guest-avatar

NEW RATING 30 March 2020 Cycling times are now reasonable! Upgrading to 4 stars NEW RATING 9 Sep 2019: Downgrading to 2 stars, for now. Cycling routes are reasonable, but times are not. 18 minutes for 6.5 kilometers? That's a speed of more than 20 kph! And that's even after I set default cycling speed to 10 kph. Would give 3 stars, but as I'm a paying customer ...

  15. guest-avatar

Really like it, includes details that the other mapping apps can't include. Issues with search function usefulness, would prefer it to work concentrically around a point, typically a users location rather than most relevant.

  16. guest-avatar

These maps are so much more detailed than Google Earth. Even Bolivia (my home country) is full of detailed types of roads, surfaces, buildings, etc. I'm so pleasantly surprised with this app.

  17. guest-avatar

Great app and so useful and flexible. If it could be made more usable it would be exceptional but once you get over the usability quirks it's great. I subscribe to live not cos I need to but to support the project and it's cheap at triple the price.

  18. guest-avatar

Finally found an app that allows me to geotrack my path OFFLINE (not connecting to network all the time) and check my path on the map afterwords!! Yes success the hunt is over! Thanks! On the way to explore more functions this app offers, for free! Definitely Recommend!!!

  19. guest-avatar

A very good app for navigating offline. Very useful on foreign trips where roaming mobile data is apparently a kilo of gold per Mb. The app is good even at making offline public transport trips, although you should know that it takes a long time to calculate.

  20. guest-avatar

Menu structure not really intuitive, so can be difficult to find /change some features, but all-in-all a great app. Particularly appreciate the ability to work without network connection. Nice work, Developers :)

  21. guest-avatar

    Valerie Anderson

Very pleased with the OSM update schedule, excellent for hiking in the US and routing anywhere the map is more complete, like Sweden, Germany, and Italy. The app is well-maintained with new features added often. Bread for using less battery while hiking than Google Maps and for working offline.

Amazing application, especially for walking and hiking routes, and recording your journey. The satellite navigation is somewhat lacking but I don't care for that so much. Download offline maps and have multiple layers. It's perfect.

  23. guest-avatar

Good map, however what I miss about this map is when Im navigating it doesnt go on 3D mode. Beside what ever place on the map it take years to appear, or it may not even appears

  24. guest-avatar

great, simple app for offline hikes and ski tours. i love once you buy the contours you are done there is no subscription fee like others. did some of the PCT last spring and was surprised it was pretty much all on there.

  25. guest-avatar

Great for navigation bike rides and walks. Records tracks. Can import gpx files. Cannot draw tracks, but that's the same for most of these apps.

  26. guest-avatar

Great alternative to Google maps with lots of functionalities but the search function is awful. Most of the time it doesn't find precise addresses.

  27. guest-avatar

The App is good, but it really sucks that I can't turn off my screen while I'm riding my bike and still be navigated by audio cues.

  28. guest-avatar

Extremely versatile and configurable map app. Everything works offline. There are better apps for car navigation with real-time traffic info, but for tourism and sports, this is unmatched.

  29. guest-avatar

Great for trails and areas that Google Maps won't show. Always works great, lots of features. Would highly recommend.

  30. guest-avatar

Awesome app. The maps by themselves are great and worth it for that. The overlays are awesome if you want to take things to the next level and use a custom map.

  31. guest-avatar

One of the best apps for hiking and biking. Incredible details (thanks to OSM), great visibility of hiking or biking routes.

  32. guest-avatar

OsmAnd had been a great tool for tracking new paths during OpenStreetMap mapping sessions for me. I highly recommend it for the integrated trip recording feature.

  33. guest-avatar

This has to be the most customizable maps app out there. It does a little bit of everything well. Gps tethering. Runs good on low resource devices.

  34. guest-avatar

I enjoy it, but I wish it would load more features even when you zoom out, sometimes it can be hard to find specific things when you don't know exactly where they're at.

  35. guest-avatar

I've been using this app across the globe for over 10 years. It has always worked perfectly for me. I only wish the contour lines were easier to see in sunlight.

  36. guest-avatar

A great alternative to google maps. Very customizable. Address search is a little annoying and public transportation navigation still has a few kinks.

  37. guest-avatar

Excellent app that has replaced my defunct Garmin etrex for walking and also for cycling. Quicker to load routes and more reliable than my newer garmin which crashes repeatedly. Highly recommended.

  38. guest-avatar

Fully using for aviation and loving it. I can suggest a few more features to work better with aviation industry though i guess it not entirely built for that purpose.

  39. guest-avatar

Great app. Love the features. Easy to use, much more user friendly than maps.me

  40. guest-avatar

Absolute best app there is for hiking GPS. What would change my 4 stars to a 5 is an easier way to follow an out-and-back GPX track from the half way point to the start i.e. summit to trailhead

  41. guest-avatar

It works quite well, but I dislike the weird pausing of the navigation marker that happens when you're walking around or driving and have OsmAnd open.

  42. guest-avatar

I love the ability to navigate and not use up mobile data. Especially useful in the areas where data is spotty!

  43. guest-avatar

Perfect map app. I use it for my motorcycle travel on and off road. Very detailed. I've used it for tourist travel.

  44. guest-avatar

    Enrico Tagliavini

Quite good app and maps are very detailed, better than Google for Europe. Offline ability was and still is a life saver. Thank you

  45. guest-avatar

Probably the best gps application I'm using since 2009. Little complicated. When you set it up... it's perfect

  46. guest-avatar

It has a tough learning curve due to all the options, but it is my favorite replacement for GoogleMaps. Too bad no traffic view

  47. guest-avatar

No traffic data. No free update of maps. Wonderful for travel in big cities with unexpected underpasses and flyovers. Google Maps sucks at that.

  48. guest-avatar

So far so good with FL, U.S. map; can't wait to see if EV charger locations, * secret ones?! 👁️🚙 Would like to implement OSM API coding dev etc. For custom app. Thanks have a good one!

  49. guest-avatar

Great app. Love the free downloads for offline maps. Good overlays for stores and amenities. Travelled Europe and US with this app.

  50. guest-avatar

i have used this for a long time when i have no wifi never let me down always works wish you xould intregrate goofle maps with this app because sometimes the milage is off.

    Ashraf Ibraheem

Very nice and valuable data inside. It easy to use and one of tools that I will never travel without it

  52. guest-avatar

The most complete and flexible mapping app I've encountered. Extremely useful for travel, around the planet.

  53. guest-avatar

More places and roads name to be updated. To create acount for sync favourites. Photo to be available for the places.

  54. guest-avatar

Use it for recording off-piste skiing & mountain biking tracks, car navigation when overseas and finding my way around cities. One app and one set of maps all my navigation the whole world off-line

  55. guest-avatar

    Muhammad Aadil Iqbal

An Awesome app Its my preferred Navigation Tool especially in Data Connection Off scenarios in Pakistan. It helped me a lot in Saudi Arabia during My Hajj in 2019.

  56. guest-avatar

    Konstantin Konev

advanced OpenStreetMap client for professional use. Wouldn't say it's best for casual map user, but for people who are osm enthusiasts there is no alternative

  57. guest-avatar

Cracking little app for route plotting, only criticism is the lack of differentiation between footpath, bridleway, byway etc

  58. guest-avatar

Perfect in every aspect. Have found a lot of new paths close by due to Open Street Map.

  59. guest-avatar

It is great app. But no sound alarm when exceeding speed limit

  60. guest-avatar

    Hamoud Al-Ammar

The best navigation application I have ever used so far. It's accurate, interactive, and easy to use.

  61. guest-avatar

The best app to measure distances to plan my runs and also to follow trails hiking the outdoors. Love it !

  62. guest-avatar

Excellent, offline map option really cuts down on data use.

  63. guest-avatar

Fantastic cycling sat nav! Love the screen wake up and shut down feature.

  64. guest-avatar

Great app. Powerful but be prepared to spend time in the settings.

  65. guest-avatar

I want to love it, but the maps are very out of date compared to viewing osm online.

  66. guest-avatar

Excellent. Very detailed maps. Accurate trip recording. I love it!

  67. guest-avatar

Great maps and great for offline. Address search could be much improved.

  68. guest-avatar

    Michael Connolly

Best maps that include hiking and cycling trails in the woods.

  69. guest-avatar

    Duncan Allester

Powerful and user friendly. You just have to get used to it not looking like Google maps.

  70. guest-avatar

I bought unlimited map download on 9 August 2018, and I change my phone and I cannot access my purchased.

  71. guest-avatar

Excellent for hiking offline with the OpenStreetview maps. Occasionally a minor bug.

  72. guest-avatar

Fantastic. Worked a treat in Colombia. Mostly used offline.

  73. guest-avatar

Excellent app. Easy to use, great graphics and data.

  74. guest-avatar

Except for the routing and for the navigation Display, just great!

  75. guest-avatar

    Andrew Gil Desabelle

Open source, free, easy to add features. Just needs nicer graphics.

  76. guest-avatar

Really great app, easy to use tho I'm not using it for half the stuff it can do... Highly recommended

  77. guest-avatar

Best Google Maps alternative I've found. As many offline maps as you can download!

  78. guest-avatar

Excellent and fast once you get the hang of the UI.

  79. guest-avatar

Works very well and loads GPX tracks with no issues.

  80. guest-avatar

Very useful offline maps. Postcode search hit or miss.

  81. guest-avatar

    Andrew Mitchell

Like Google maps except after download needs no connection for use, needs much memory.

  82. guest-avatar

I really like the app but it's very slow to render. Is the paid version optimised better?

  83. guest-avatar

    Eveliina Korjus

Clunky but gets the job done. With some ui improvements it's a great app

  84. guest-avatar

Speedometer & speed alerts are far too small. No audible alert speed alert.

  85. guest-avatar

    Georg Bittner-Buddenbrock

Excellent navigation app! Used in the Middle East, Europe and N- America!

  86. guest-avatar

Easily my favorite map and navigation app. Great for exploring without a car

  87. guest-avatar

Very useful, especially when you are offline

  88. guest-avatar

Very helpful both in the city and on the trails!

  89. guest-avatar

+: saves maps to the SD card +: offline navigation for bicycle

  90. guest-avatar

Offline private navigation. Up to house number level.

  91. guest-avatar

Doesn't track and with a little bit of patience, it brings you everywhere

  92. guest-avatar

Pin point but still the map has to improve as it did not show my street in it

  93. guest-avatar

Great ap. Who needs a Garmin. Just this on my phone and my.bike. perfect.

  94. guest-avatar

I love this map but one thing, I need this map to be update more and more than I expected.

  95. guest-avatar

Great app, has paths that Google maps doesn't.

  96. guest-avatar

Really useful app, OSM maps are pretty good quality.

  97. guest-avatar

Finds places better than other apps once put of cities and towns.
