I have been using Babbel for Russian for 6 months now. The first three month were great. But that is about as long as it will take you to work through the relevant content at a reasonable pace (~15 minutes a day). Afterwards there is not really much there, except for vocabulary lists (which are a nice add on, but not really motivating as sole means of learning). Offering such small package in the normal pricing range without indicating the limited content is in my opinion inappropriate.

  2. guest-avatar

babbel learn languages apk "select the word in spanish and listen to the translation". There's no other explanation what to do or where the word is supposed to fit in the sentence before or after the word they display in Spanish. if you didn't hear the word, tough s*** you have to skip it. You can't repeat it or listen to it again. Back to Duolingo with the threatening owl, I guess. This is a waste of time.

babbel learn languages app I have been using Babbel for about a month and have felt secure having its structure alongside other learning activities such as Anki Flashcards. It is beautifully designed, but there is one flaw. This is the keyboard on the mobile version of the app. The letters always look upper-case on the keyboard itself, even when upper-case has not been specified. It would be better if the look of the letters before writing reflected the ability to capitalise or not. Thanks.

babbel learn languages mod apk I've been using this app for several months. Some days ago, it asked me to download an updated version. After it, all my progress was DELETED. Everything that I learned so far was GONE! It's as if you were studying using a nice workbook and making notes that you can go back to and suddenly, they take it from you and you are left with a blank page. How do you continue to study? UPDATE, all solved: be careful about the app language setting. If a different one is chosen, your progress is hidden.

  5. guest-avatar

babbel learn languages online very good structure and excellent choice of native speakers for the pronunciation of words and conversations (you won't hear robotic sounds here). Good balance between writing, speaking and listening tasks. activity tracking that encourages you to keep coming back but which isn't in your face about missing a day (no streak features). a fair 5/5!

babbel learning languages The previous issue seems to have resolved itself. There is one other thing that seems a bit odd. I have chosen American English as the language I speak, and yet I see "Teil 1", "Teil 2", and "Wiederholung" next to chapter name. The language on my phone is also English, and I have not set German as my language anywhere (I don't even speak it). I also tried resetting my language in the App, but that didn't work.

  7. guest-avatar

premium apk I really, really love this app. It is very simple to switch between languages and it gets right to the point where you are able to converse in a new language in a few weeks, unlike some apps *cough Duolingo cough*. I would 100% recommend having a subscription as it is so much better, and I really wish there were more languages like Swedish and Korean. But I do love being able to download lessons!!! 8/10

premium v20.3.1 cracked apk Update installs new app and didn't remember user details. Very annoying to have an app that needs updating and then installs a new app leaving the previous version. In addition, the new app didn't remember user details and therefore need to be entered again. Unfortunately, I didn't remember my password but requesting a reset doesn't seem to work. Annoying for a paid app.

  9. guest-avatar

app store Lately I practiced with my computer. And when I switch back to the app I have to do the lesson again, because apparently the app and the online version aren't in sync. Also the mic function isn't always working. That's super annoying! I always learn in a really quiet room, so the mic isn't confused in what to pick up. And even with the mic on high sensitivity it something doesn't understand the simplest words. I contacted the support team and they told me to just delete the vocabulary 🙄🤔🧐

  10. guest-avatar

premium A lot of reviews focus on technical issues(crashing, text input issues, etc.) While I don't think those issues should exist, I can only speak to my experience: I have been using Babbel for a year to learn German. I am regularly impressed at how seemingly random lessons fit into real life. My family is German, and I missed the boat on learning as a kid, but this app has helped me converse with relatives who do not speak good English. No shortcuts, it's about how much you're willing to put in.

  11. guest-avatar

Good Only problem is it lags a little when loading. When the screen turns to the next page, it doesn't start at the top of the page but in the middle. Small detail but the content is good so far. Really explains the grammatical rules of the language. For me it's German. Also have Duolingo but wanted to give this a try as Duolingo isn't very clear on certain things

  12. guest-avatar

The course seems very good, but it's let down hugely by the under-developed app. Lessons aren't always marked as complete. The keyboard is non-standard and therefore difficult to use. The speech recognition is terrible, and the whole interface is clunky, and frustrating. On the plus side, the teaching seems to be organised very well, with repetition at appropriate intervals, lots of audio, and information well presented. As one of the cheapest courses, I guess you get what you pay for.

  13. guest-avatar

So far going very well. The interface is excellent and in terms of content it focuses on teaching the proper foundation of language rather than just popular 'travel phrases.' Minor criticism- some more explanation over verb conjugations would be useful. They're confusing at first, feeling rather rushed and I consulted online material to help.

  14. guest-avatar

Only got this because they're offering a month free, but you're better off with Duolingo (which is totally free btw). The app doesn't use your phone's keyboard and their keyboard is very laggy so I'm having to type very slowly to get the letters to register. The app asks you how much of the language you already know and even though I selected that I'm already pretty confident, it still made me start with basics like saying hello and goodbye... Expected more from an app that demands money

I like the way the lessons do a little each of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar in one lesson. Each lesson teaches a little something new, and you have spaced reviews to go over what you need to the most. I also like that the audio is from real people and not a stupid bot. The one thing I feel is lacking is a forum where users can interact.

  16. guest-avatar

As a language tool it is very good, my only faults are with the app itself. Each time I log on it says "something went wrong" and I have to make many attempts before it lets me into the app. It also sometimes states I need to confirm through my email that this is a valid log in to babbel. The email states to ignore the email if you are infact logging in and not a stranger. This means I just have to continue to press log in until it accepts me, which seems arbitrary currently. Any advice?

I contacted 2 times the support team, they seems absent, maybe it's because of the covid, maybe it's because I ask about a refund. The so called "conversation" they sell in their ad, are actually "made up conversation" you don't meet people on this app. They say that if your not satisfied under 20 day they refund you. Maybe by this third contacting...

  18. guest-avatar

Very thorough way to learn a language. Repetition builds skills from zero to hero at your own pace. No silly social media arguments either, like some free apps I could mention. Basically a grown up way to learn a foreign tongue. Thumbs up from me. Been using it for 6 months and just signed up for a whole year.

  19. guest-avatar

I was unhappy with the app. I felt it sped up too fast and relied heavily on proper reading and writing of spanish more than how to speak the language which is all I need to learn honestly. I paid for the app and feel unsuccessful as if I was taking a Spanish class to live is Mexico and have to write words. I just want to hear the words and speak them only.

  20. guest-avatar

The sound recognition in the speak practice doesn't work! I couldn't continue to study. I tried all ways, restarting my phone, setting the sensitivity of the microphone, allowing microphone to record sounds, uninstalling the app and installing it again. However, it still doesn't work to the speak practice. I am annoyed by that.

  21. guest-avatar

Hey Babbel, Great App. Here are the opportunities I think need to be improved. 1) On my Android device I have to copy-paste in numbers, commas, dashes, and apostrophes. 2) The fill in the blanks would be more effective if we were reciting them, not the audio. 3) Course 3 Lesson 3 "Souffles Bougies" the audio with the two men talking sounds unpleasant. Their communication between each other is not professional and sounds more like flatulence. It is very hard to stay focused listening to them.

  22. guest-avatar

Excellent tool for learning a language. Like anything, the more you put in, the more you get out. The different methods of reviewing learning are very helpful and the companion podcasts are also very useful. Only criticism is that the in app keyboard is very clunky and unresponsive, would be much better if you could use the device keyboard, or gboard/SwiftKey or similar.

  23. guest-avatar

Good app but I will have to move on to a different learning platform. I really find it unhelpful how the title of the lessons are irrelevant to the grammar concepts taught in the lesson. If I wanted to search and find the lesson that teaches verb conjugations, it would be difficult to locate as the titles are just real life scenario names instead of the grammatical concept taught in the lesson. Please fix this.

  24. guest-avatar

Great app with a user-friendly layout and intuitive knowledge progression. I have tried other language learning apps and while they are all generally similar, I feel like Babbel has a better approach and more useful content for everyday life situations. I especially like the recorded conversations, they are less robotic sounding than some of the competition.

  25. guest-avatar

I don't think it's available for all language speakers. This app will ask you what language you speak but it only has 9 options (so far) and you can't speak and learn the same language in this app so if you're like me whose native language isn't among the 9 options they have and you want to learn English, you can't. Those 9 languages are : American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish.

I don't think the best way to get someone started is a bunch of difficult sentences without much explanation. I'm learning German and the vocabulary this app gives you in the beginner course is not something you can actually start on. I have to use duolingo for vocab, as this concentrates way too much on situational conversation. I'm almost finished with the beginner part, but I can't do small talk on everyday topics at all. It's all about hotels and such and barely any verbs. Disappointing.

Have been using it for around a week now, having used Duolingo for around 50ish days prior. I am learning German. Was worried I'd have to skip some courses because of already having practiced some, but was pleasantly surprised! So far it's genuinely great! I instantly noticed Babbel has a much more different, "professional" feeling learning system, and even on the first courses I feel as I'm learning much much more. However, please add a forum similar to duolingo! Its really useful.

  28. guest-avatar

I got a notification that the app is no longer supported and to download the latest version from the Play store. I did so and logged into the new app to find 6months of my learning progress has disappeared. Disappointing for a relatively expensive app to fail on a basic syncing task. From the comments below, I see this is not an isolated occurrence. Be aware of updating!

  29. guest-avatar

i have downloaded the app and i have been charged INR 4550 without being even asked if i wanted to start the subscription. I dont even use the app except to see how it works, and that was covered by a 7 day free trial. So beware, the subscription service is a scam, i should have known better to install an app asking for your bank details even before you finish the installation.

  30. guest-avatar

Babbel makes learning fun and easy. However, I turned on 'strict spelling' so I would have to use all the special characters in Spanish (e.g. 'ñ' or 'é'), but the keyboard in Babbel has no such special characters. Considering these characters play a huge role in Spanish (and other languages), this is a major flaw. EDIT: Answer to the answer from Babbel: I have tried that, it does NOT work!

I just got a lifetime subscription with access to all of the 15 languages. I started with Portuguese and I love it so far! It is fun and easy to use and there is repetition, voice.. I like that the lessons are short and you can do them even on a busy schedule. I like the emphasis on spoken language. I recommend for beginners interested in learning a new language.

  32. guest-avatar

Love this app! But I keep getting answers wrong because I can't type special characters like "ñ". Pressing and holding the "n" key does nothing. I have a Galaxy s9. I gave it 4 stars because that seems like a pretty big oversight in a language learning app.

  33. guest-avatar

Using the app for a week for the free trial, I had requested when downloading it for the 3 month subscription. Checking my bank and emails & babbel have taken 2 payments for both the 3 month subscription of £25.99, also the years subscription of £79.99. As a result I want to cancel the full subscription. I have spoken with Google play services and emailed babbel directly. I want a full refund ASAP due to the double error and have left me overdrawn.

  34. guest-avatar

unless you want one lesson in the basics then have to pay for the others, then please don't get this app. upon signing up, you're immediately hit with a "buy premium" ad. Which is annoying to immediately see. honestly, i just wanted to learn a language so me and my partner can speak in their native language. not waste cash on a monthly premium on a stupid app that provides ONE lesson before paywalling you.

  35. guest-avatar

It is not free! It gives you 7 day free trial, but that does not mean FREE people! It's false advertising when you say it's free, but all you have free is one basic lesson. Can't comment anything about the learning it self as did only the basic lesson. Don't like to waste my time, this is the only reason why I wrote this review - help others not to waste their time!

  36. guest-avatar

I love this up. I'm currently learning 3 languages (English, Italian, German) and I can see big progress. One thing which sometimes makes me upset is the fact that when I minimize the app in the wrong moment and come back, it is not possible to continue lesson and you have to leave the lesson and open it once more.

  37. guest-avatar

Generally good, but what is really missing is the option of jumping ahead/skipping lessons that are too easy or that I finished already, but that the app did not mark as "finished" due to weak internet. Having to repeat the same lessons multiple times due to bad internet just to be able to get to the next course is absolutely annoying!

  38. guest-avatar

I'm only using the trial version but this app learning system seems legit. It's a very visual way of learning & makes you both repeat audibly as well as match translations. Wish I had something like this back in high school to help learn Spanish! If only this had many more languages in their database... I need to learn Thai & Filipino for a trip & would be really nice to have an all-in-one learning tool like this

This is not worth a single penny. I downloaded it and forgot about it after taking the 7 days free trial. And they deducted a year's subscription cost from my account. And the lessons are soo limited I can frankly complete it in a week's time. I would personally not recommend it to anyone. Very limited courses for a very huge amount.

  40. guest-avatar

I've been using Babbel for a month and it really teaches the language with clear structure and explanations for every new word, structure or technique you learn. They only lost a star because of the not-so-perfect syncing between two devices, and the Android buggy application. I'm using it on an android and iPhone, and sometimes I need to uninstall and reinstall it on my android phone to get it syncing right again. They have amazing and fast costumer support that will try their best to help.

  41. guest-avatar

It's a really good learning app and they give tips and small notes in the middle of the lesson unlike other apps which is really helpful, with really friendly messages too! ☆☆☆☆ cause the mic isn't working which i would really love to use. At first it kept on lagging and crashing, so i reinstalled, the mic still is not working but my phone stopped crashing.

  42. guest-avatar

Really motivating programme for learning language. It's very logical and gives good balance of vocabulary and grammar. The revision is very helpful. I thought the recording of our voice to tests speaking was at times problematic but overall I have completed 3 courses of Norwegian during our lockdown. There is good level of reinforcement through repetition. I would happily continue with Babbel and try another language.

It was super ......every thing was just great ...i like the 7 day free trial...but i guess making everything free would just be too much to ask....but still tho yo should consider it.....more people would definitely use it....thats the thing with free apps....you can never find anything faulty cause its great...Babbel is great...you guys should give it a go ..if ur willing to spend a little cash dat is😉😌...Great app by the way😍

  44. guest-avatar

Hi! I just downloaded the app and when I try to choose the sign up option with my Facebook account or Google Account, "Something went wrong, Please try again" keeps on popping out. I highly appreciate your help as this is the first time that I'm going to use Babbel. Thanks

  45. guest-avatar

I honestly can't say how the app works since my son's only used it one time in April of 2018 but company continues to bill me monthly, it's currently April 2020. I've tried every which way to cancel this subscription. I followed directions on Babbel's site. But there is nothing on the website to allow me to cancel my subscription. So frustrating!

I wanted to compare it to another app I was using and I had to sign up for the 7 day free trial in order to try it. Within a few minutes I realized I didn't like it , and I've been trying to cancel it ever since. It doesn't show up in my Google subscriptions, but it will automatically be charged to my account if I don't cancel it within the 7 days. When businesses offer a free trial, require your personal and credit card info up-front and then make it near impossible to cancel I call it a scam.

So far learning another language is fun and interesting. It is a little difficult at times because of the way the lessons are configured. You often see things that you aren't familiar with early on. I see it as a challenge and not necessarily a bad thing. It helps to make me feel accomplished when I do complete a lesson. If I do completely butcher a lesson, I am allowed to go back and correct mistakes at the end of the lesson until I get them all right. I am really enjoying Babbel so far.

  48. guest-avatar

Its fun and i'm loving it.only thing i found hard so far is that there could be more clear directions on what to do next. I had 1 question wrong in the first set, with the scrambled letters, and it was because i wasnt sure what i was supposed to do. Other than that im excited to learn new languages with Babbel!

This is the best app to use of you want to learn a new language. It doesn't do vocabulary or anything like that. The app teaches you the first steps of the language then the greetings and so on. You can also review what you learned in case you forget. I do about 3 lessons a day and I learned like 13 new words. It's awesome and I think everybody will love it!

Love this app! Makes learning a language simple and fun. Lots of opportunity to review, so you better retain what you learn, and several different options for methods of learning, ie. Speaking, reading, typing, matching phrases, etc.

  51. guest-avatar

The content is good. Learned vocabulary and grammar is put to use in real conversations within varying contexts. But why do you force use of your custom keyboard? It's awkward and means learning two different ways to type special characters (inside and outside the app). Please just let me use my android keyboard!

  52. guest-avatar

I would give it more, but there's an Italian/English keyboard problem. App provided keyboard doesn't have the ' character, and marks you wrong for not typing it. DuoLingo App let's you use your phone's keyboards. You need to fix this. I'm about to cancel my PAID subscription.

Very enjoyable. A few bugs such as the App getting stuck or rating some correct answers as wrong. For example, there may be two gender forms in Spanish linked to one in English. One form picked in Spanish will be marked as wrong whereas both answers are correct.

  54. guest-avatar

We should be able to give feedback on translation (Where is the bus stop is not Tem um ponto on de onibus), I found quite a few examples. If I click show answer I dont want to have to type the answer again. The app does not recognize a typo. With all the above said, I like the app and my Portuguese is improving.

  55. guest-avatar

This app is very cool and I am learning but the problem is, that I cant find many free courses in it. Most of them are membership only and I can't go past the very first course. I just wish that I could do just a little more. Unless you know how to find the free ones (tell me if you do), then I dont reccomend this app.

  56. guest-avatar

Totally loving this! I am picking up German from scratch after zero use for over ten years. I love the flow of new material, the repetition in different forms. I will easily spend an hour entertained without even realizing how much time has passed. Highly recommended.

It is a great app generally. I love the content and the time allocated for each lesson or review. However, sometimes the speaking feature stalls. Also, sometimes I have to do a lesson twice, even thrice, for the app to mark it complete.

Definitely one of the best language learn apps I have found so far. Better than the other because it actually explains the different rules rather than just telling you words and phrases. Great if you are serious about learning a language.

  59. guest-avatar

It's very good, don't get me wrong but it could improved; it would be cool if the courses were designed to motivate you more, designed to be like a game or something - you get coins for every day you play or something like that.

  60. guest-avatar

Super happy with it. I just wish there was a user friendly, comprehensive archive of vocabulary you've already covered ... One that keeps up with your lessons, so it's easy to read through and review.

  61. guest-avatar

I downloaded this app to work on/expand what I already know (I'm an intermediate Spanish speaker) but the courses start at the very beginning of speaking spanish. There should be a placement test to assess your skill level and give you courses relevant to that skill level. I already know how to conjugate verbs and I can use almost every verb tense so I don't want to have to sit through a bunch if introductory courses that teach me how to say "yo soy Lucia", especially if I'm paying for the app.

Almost a 100. The microphone, even when set to be very sensitive, can still miss the correct pronunciation. Almost a month in, and I'm really liking the courses. I find 30 mins about 4-5 times a week to learn.

  63. guest-avatar

I bought a year subscription and I'm enjoying the course. But the app is terrribly frustrating! It's as though it was developed twenty years ago, it's so laggy and un-instinctive. The keyboard on it drives me mad. Definitely need some sort of a UX update.

  64. guest-avatar

I can't confirm if this teaches you to learn to speak a language in 3 weeks as advertised, but I certainly like the approach to teaching. I managed to proceed further in Spanish in a shorter time than in previous tries (using other methods). The app itself also very user friendly.

  65. guest-avatar

Babbel material itself is very great and useful for learning, thumbs up! But the app is nearly useless. No sync between desktop. I must every time reainstall app for this to happen.. Cand do review of words and phrases on app more then once per day, are you joking?

  66. guest-avatar

Love it because you can access any lesson you want at any time. Major feedback: add an option to freely add whatever words you want to the Vocabulary Review list! Instead of only the pre-selected words from the themed lessons.

  67. guest-avatar

From the pronunciation to spelling to proper usage of the subject, verbs, pronouns and adjectives. Divided by lessons. Its awesome. I learned alot of words and sentence structures. Exercises and reviews helps alot. You can choose how to review, like listening or speaking etc. Repetition is the key, and they follow up. It was worth it. Still learning until now but for sure it's not in vain.. Recommended. Satisfied

  68. guest-avatar

Great lessons, easy to remember. Sometimes the microphone function doesn't work that well but that might ve because of my phone. Because on my previous phone it worked perfectly. Good explanation of the grammar. I wish it would come up with more languages

  69. guest-avatar

I love it, but you have to be committed and find more ways. Like listening to youtube German news and Children programs. I also write down most of the Babbel conversations to go over it again.

  70. guest-avatar

I liked the app alit and was finding it very informative and helpful but adni was progressing theough the Russian course it would not update that i conplete a course evn when I repeated them multiple times it would not be marked as complete. It was very frustrating.

I am enjoying learning Indonesian on Babbel. It offers a variety of options that help with reading, writing and listening. The methode would be even more effective if there was an opportunity to speak, and not only repeat words

  72. guest-avatar

It isn't very helpful, it moves a little too fast for me and it doesn't start with the basics at all. It starts with medium level as if you should already know this stuff. It's a decent set up but not for me at all.

Love it! Teaches concepts in a clear and easy to learn way. I also felt like it was easier to progress and move on to harder things faster than some other language apps I've used.

  74. guest-avatar

Babbel has been a great help for my learning how to speak Italian. I already had a little basic knowledge, and was happy to see that Babbel has a knowledge assessment so that one does not necessarily have to start at the very beginning. I would like Babbel to add more speaking opportunities, especially in the "make it stick" reviews, which are helpful but a bit too short. One small complaint: there is no apostrophe on the keyboard; I had to paste it in order to spell some words correctly.

Only just moved from Newcomers to Beginners course but loving it so far! Very functional, useful phrases and sentences. I really like the bits where they play a conversation clip at normal speaking pace and you have to pick up information. Very realistic!

  76. guest-avatar

Although it's okay the learning environment is not great it only supports one learning style and that's it you fit in there perfect little box otherwise this app is for your the interface needs major work honestly if this is your only option it will do however I would suggest trying something else

  77. guest-avatar

So much better than other "free" software available. Absolutely worth it if you actually want to learn a language. Incorporates learning techniques for auditory, visual, and tactile learners.

  78. guest-avatar

I love this app a lot. I just saw the commercial on my TV a fee minutes ago.😁 I just wish they had more languages because currently I want to learn🇰🇷 Korean. So I hope in the future they add more!

  79. guest-avatar

I can't turn on the voice recognition. The in app help says to tap on a microphone icon in any lesson, but I see no such icon. Edit: Somehow I got that to turn on. Not really sure what I did. But it's working well now.

  80. guest-avatar

Their technical support & customer service is very bad .. with every and each bug or technical problem you complaint from they have only one response "please reinstall the app" which is definitely helpless .. I won't renew my subscription until the solve their problem and respect their customers.

  81. guest-avatar

I'm loving this app but I wish it could allow pronunciation of other words in the sentence other than just the words to be learnt. All the same, it's a really good app to learn languages.

  82. guest-avatar

Great app, lots of variety with learning activities. I think a better ordering of a word bank would improve it, instead of alphabetical it could be in order of subject or difficulty! Well worth the effort!

Fantastic app for learning, this truely does take the science of learning efficiency and apply it to learning languages. The key is to do a module a day (aswell as and refresh questions) 20/30 minutes a day and you'll be fluent in no time! Well worth the subscription fee 😁

  84. guest-avatar

Claimed it was free on the radio, clearly not free. The most disappointing part is that it does not have all the languages as it had said. I've been trying to learn korean and mandirin. Wishing it wasn't as hard to start somewhere.

It's a fun program, well-designed; gets you to think, to use words of the language, in various ways: in speaking, in one's thoughts, and in writing.

  90. guest-avatar

I really like it, I took the free lesson and it teaches really well. It's not too expensive but I can't afford it right now. I'll definitely give it 5 when I buy it and have a real chance but it's really cool!

  91. guest-avatar

The app itself is super patient with newbies like me! It repeats and repeats the phrases as many times as you'd like. Have not seen any ads. And can also remind you when it is lesson time!

  92. guest-avatar

Some improvements recently, but some lessons are still too long. They should be at maximum 15min each. Then the user can chose for himself if he wants to do two. My last session lasted 25min...that's too long.

  93. guest-avatar

Android app asks you to sort letters of a scrambled word. However it seems to be impossible to do so: drag and drop doesn't work. So only a couple of minutes into the first lesson I've hit a road block!

I'm not knockin free language learning apps, because I use those too. Babbel is much less repetetive with the very easy vocabulary. It has really taken my Italian up a notch. Babbel more fully explores a subject area so you feel like you could really order dinner or ask for things in a store. Using several different types of educational tools is the best way to progress.
