تعريف الصّحابة رضي الله عنهم اختلفت تعريفات العلماء للصحابي ومن هو، فعلماء الحديث الشريف لهم تعريفٌ، وعلماء أصول الفقه لهم تعريفٌ آخرٌ، وبيان تعريفاتهم على النحو الآتي: تعريفُ الأصوليون للصحابيّ: هو من طالت مجالسته للنبي صلى لله عليه وسلم، على طريق التبع له والأخذ عنه، بخلاف من وفد عليه وانصرف بلا مصاحبة ولا متابعة. تعريف المحدثين للصحابيّ:من لقي النبيّ -صلّى الله عليه وسلّم- مؤمناً به، ومات على الإسلام؛ فيدخل في من لقيه: من طالت مجالسته له أو قصرت بلا فرقٍ، ومن روى عنه أو لم يرو عنه، ومن غزا معه أيّ من الغزوات أو لم يغز، ومن رآه رؤية ولو لم يجالسه، ومن لم يره لعارضٍ؛ كالعمى، ويخرج بقيد الإيمان: من لقيه كافراً، ولو أسلم بعد ذلك إذا لم يجتمع معه مرة أخرى، وقد شمل التّعريف كذلك من دخل في الإسلام ورأى النبيّ -عليه السّلام- ثمّ ارتدّ عن الدّبن، ثمّ عاد إليه مجدّداً حتى لو لم يلق النبيّ مرّةً أخرى. وهذا التّعريف أصحّ وقد قال به البخاريّ وأحمد بن حنبل -رحمهما الله- وغيرهما. وذكر العُلماء أنّ عدد الصّحابة الذين توفي عنهم رسول الله -صلّى الله عليه وسلّم- قد بلغ مئةً وأربعة عشر ألفاً، وقد نُقل عن الرّافعيّ: أنّه عند وفاة النبيّ -صلّى الله عليه وسلّم- كان الصّحابة ستين ألفاً؛ ثلاثين ألفاً في المدينة المنوّرة، وثلاثين ألفاً في قبائل العرب، وقد قيل إنّ ما صنّفه العُلماء من أسماء وسِير الصّحابة ما يقارب العشرة آلاف. فضل الصّحابة الكرام شهِد الله تعالى بفضل الصّحابة رضوان الله تعالى عليهم، وقد أنزل فيهم آياتٍ قرآنيّةً تُتلى إلى يوم القيامة؛ حيث قال الله تعالى فيهم: (لَقَدْ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَثَابَهُمْ فَتْحاً قَرِيباً)، فعن ابن كثير في تفسير الآية الكريم: (فعلم ما في قلوبهم من الصّدق والإيمان والوفاء؛ لذلك كرّمهم ورفع قدرهم)، وفي قوله تعالى: (اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ)، يقول ابن القيّم: (فالله سبحانه أعلم حيث يجعل رسالاته أصلاً وميراثاً؛ فهو أعلم بمن يصلح لتحمل رسالته فيؤديها إلى عباده بالأمانة والنصيحة، وتعظيم المرسل والقيام بحقه والصبر على أوامره والشكر لنعمه، والتقرب إليه، ومن لا يصلح لذلك، وكذلك هو سبحانه أعلم بمن يصلح من الأمم لوراثة رسله والقيام بخلافتهم، وحمل ما بلغوه عن ربهم).
ولقد أكّد رسول الله -صلّى الله عليه وسلّم- فضل أصحابه واستحقاقهم لعلوّ الدّرجات، فقال: (خيرُ الناسِ قَرْنِي، ثمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهم، ثم الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهم). لقد كان المميّز في الصّحابة -رضوان الله عليهم- والسّبب في تعظيم شأنهم ونيلهم كلّ هذا الفضل من الله تعالى وكلّ هذه المحبّة من رسوله؛ ما وقر في قلوبهم من الإيمان الصّادق وصحّة الاعتقاد، فقد امتلأت قلوبهم بمحبة الله تعالى وتعظيمه والخوف منه، وأحبّوا رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم، فكانت طاعته وإيثاره على أنفسهم علامة هذا الحبّ، حتّى بذلوا في سبيل رضا الله ونبيّه أموالهم وأنفسهم وأوقاتهم وكلّ ما يملكون، ثمّ إنّهم تمّموا إيمانهم بصحّة العبادة وكثرتها، فداوموا على الطّاعات، وحسّنوا أخلاقهم، وتآخوا فيما بينهم، وآثروا إخوانهم على أنفسهم، حتّى جعل الرّسول -عليه السّلام- محبّتهم من الإيمان، وبغضهم علامةٌ من علامات النّفاق؛ لأنّ من عرف سيرتهم، ودرس أخلاقهم وأفضالهم لا يملك إلّا محبّتهم والترضّي عنهم، إلّا إذا مسّ إيمانه شيءٌ من سقمٍ.

And the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, affirmed the merits of his companions and their worthiness of the highest ranks. The distinguished companions in the Companions - may God be pleased with them - were the reason for maximizing their affairs and obtaining all this credit from God Almighty and all this love from His Messenger. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and obedience to him and his self-preference were a sign of this love, until they made for the sake of God’s approval and His prophet their money, themselves and their times and all that they possess, then they fulfilled their faith in the health and abundance of worship.
