Aegis Authenticator is a free, secure and open source app to manage your 2-step verification tokens for your online services. Aegis supports the HOTP and TOTP algorithms. These two algorithms are industry-standard and widely supported, making Aegis compatible with thousands of services. Any web service that supports Google Authenticator will also work with Aegis Authenticator. All of your one-time passwords are stored in a vault. If you choose to set a password (highly recommended), the vault will be encrypted using strong cryptography. If someone with malicious intent gets a hold of the vault file, it’s impossible for them to retrieve the contents without knowing the password. Entering your password each time you need access to a one-time password can be cumbersome. Fortunately, you can also enable biometric unlock if your device has a biometrics sensor (i.e. fingerprint or face unlock). Over time, you'll likely accumulate tens of entries in your vault. Aegis Authenticator has lots of organization options to make finding the one you need at a particular moment easier. Set a custom icon for an entry to make it easier to find. Search by account name or service name. Have a lot of one-time passwords? Add them to custom groups for easier access. Personal, Work and Social can each get their own group. To make sure you will never lose access to your online accounts, Aegis Authenticator can create automatic backups of the vault to a location of your choosing. If your cloud provider supports the Storage Access Framework of Android (like Nextcloud does), it can even create automatic backups to the cloud. Creating manual exports of the vault is also supported. To make the switch easier, Aegis Authenticator can import the entries of lots of other authenticators, including: Authenticator Plus, Authy, andOTP, FreeOTP, FreeOTP+, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Steam, TOTP Authenticator and WinAuth (root access is required for the apps that don't have an option to export). • Free and open source • Secure • Encrypted, can be unlocked with a password or biometrics • Screen capture prevention • Tap to reveal • Compatible with Google Authenticator • Supports industry standard algorithms: HOTP and TOTP • Lots of ways to add new entries • Scan a QR code or an image of one • Enter details manually • Import from other popular authenticator apps • Organization • Alphabetic/custom sorting • Custom or automatically generated icons • Group entries together • Advanced entry editing • Search by name/issuer • Material design with multiple themes: Light, Dark, AMOLED • Export (plaintext or encrypted) • Automatic backups of the vault to a location of your choosing Aegis Authenticator is open source and licensed under GPLv3. Almost the perfect authenticator. One problem I faced is when fingerprint verification is done too quickly, the app gets stuck in the login page and tapping on 'biometric' option doesn't prompt for scan again and I have to re-open to get prompted again. Also importing from 2FAS backup fails if the 'issuer' value is not defined, which shouldn't be that important. Also, having cloud backup instead of being included in app data backup is a more reliable option.

Coming from Authy, this app has an UI which is much more pleasing to the eye. I do miss the grid layout, though. The grid layout would be a nice addition to the design. Also, having a short PIN for opening the app alongside the long encryption password would be quite useful. And backing up usage data in the backup would be nice. The app has easy import options and decent exporting features too. The backups work well, you get tap to show and tap to highlight a code. Really nice.

Simplest authenticator I've seen by far. I can immediately login with fingerprint and see all the codes on the same page, instantly copying them by tapping on it. Literally a 5 second process. The settings page is not overwhelming or too tech-savvy either, and I also enjoy the auto light/dark mode. Do wish this could be set by a custom timeframe.

Coming from Google authenticator this is miles above. I really like that the app can import everything from Google Authenticator (and lots of other apps) whereas Authy can't do that. You have AMOLED themes as well as icons for lots of sites. Lots of things to love in this application

I haven't tried other 2FA applications such as Authy, andOTP, etc. but I don't think I have to as I am really more than satisfied to use Aegis. Excellent job, devs! Side note, the "Highlight tokens when tapped" option is quite mesmerizing.

A very functional and well designed authenticator app. The best thing about it is now I don't have to carry different authenticators for different apps. This one does it all.

This app is AWESOME and I'm never leaving it. I hope that the developers stay to true to their goals and offer the same services and security even when they become famous :D

Been using this for over a year without issue. Manual export/backup is better than most mainstreem otp programs. Open source with responsive developer. Thanks.

Clean and flawless experience for over a year now. I have used about three other authenticators before but I really like this one!

Easy to use, configurable (hide codes by default, etc.) and great backup including import / export.
