Google Play Reviews

  1. Nick Whitman-avatar

This app serves as an excellent tool to help digest the emense song of ice and fire universe. The amount of information and detail for virtually every character (including patents, siblings, place of birth, place of death and anything they did during their lives that had any influence at all) and place is impressive. The maps show great detail, and the journey map is incredibly useful when reading the books.

  2. Walter Lindell-avatar

app Great resource that helped me Keep track of characters, places and groups in the books, the controls for the maps are a bit of a hassle though

  3. Casey Trempler-avatar

a game of thrones episode guide An excellent app to help keep track of each POV from their individual backstories and immediate family trees all the way down to the mapping of their location any chapter they're mentioned.

  4. Paul Robson-avatar

game of thrones a guide to westeros and beyond Nice idea, but I find it as responsive as Ilyn Payne

  5. Leonardo García-avatar

    Leonardo García

game of thrones guide dubrovnik I'm a die-hard fan of the books. The app was heralded in reddit as something amazing, but the information in this app is ridiculously lacking. You're better off browsing the wiki and using the interactive map (Quarter Maester). The UI is also not very useful. I really wanted to like it, but with so little information it doesn't make sense to give it a better rating when that's the whole purpose of the app.

  6. brett todd-avatar

game of thrones guided tour It does not open past the title page

  7. Cally Dunbar-avatar

game of thrones guided tour dubrovnik Just have to be careful to not read too far into character descriptions or you might get a spoiler, but overall an awesome app to help keep track of all the details in this series.

  8. Briana Abeldt-avatar

a game of thrones board game strategy guide The app works exactly as billed, the DLC is cheap enough to be worth it, and this is an excellent way to get a deeper look into Westeros and the surrounding continents for both book readers and show watchers! The ONLY reason I didn't give it a five is this; The artwork in the app is gorgeous, but when you go to the full character page, you don't get a chance to look at the full character artwork! Agggh! If they fix that one thing, I'll give it a five.

  9. Luke-avatar

game of thrones guide season 3 "A World of Ice and Fire" is a fantastic app. It contains hundreds of pages worth of information and history to accompany you on your journey through George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire". However, what is keeping me from giving this five stars is the slow, clunky and somewhat unresponsive UI. It'll usually take me a few presses for the app to recognise the menu I'm trying to open, which after time can become very annoying. I'm hoping this will be patched sooner, rather than later.

  10. Isaac Ellis-avatar

crusader kings 2 Informative, yet limited. It would be useful to have the spoiler settings by chapter rather than by book, and certain places and things don't need to be blocked just because the places haven't yet appeared in the books. For example, Jalahbar Xho, you can find out where he's from but nothing about the place. As it is a companion to the book, it would be useful for it to give you a bit background information about the places, houses and people in the book.

  11. David Barton-avatar

totally unreponsive when trying to open the various options. the only thing that seems to work are the bottom icons. everthing else is unresponsive. this review concerns the app I downloaded on my Samsung 6 cell phone. I downloaded on my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro laptop and it is working fine. my cell phone possibly doesn't have enough ram to operate the app. it is 364mb large. the laptop app is responsive and it looks very good. sorry it can't work on the phone.

  12. Ogakul Borat-avatar

Just started with the books, after a dissapointing season 8. The app is a great help! What I would love is an option to switch to the graphic illustrations (characters, banners, etc.) of the show. Would even pay for that! I think since there will be a lot of people coming from the show and starting with the books now, they would love this option too.

  13. A Google user-avatar

It really helps keep the characters and houses straight! I think the $4.99 is reasonable to unlock all the features. I'm not certain what the bad reviews are about. The files seem large and take time to load. I suspect that you could think you need to buy info packs again when you don't.

  14. Rosa Storm-avatar

This app is great! And I don't know why people are complaining about it costing a lot of money. Each book costs €1 to unlock, so €5 unlocks it all. And it's great content. You can even see on the map where people traveled according to your current chapter. Very useful!

  15. Jen Boucher-avatar

Had a slight hic up when first started using the app where purchases disappeared. Contacted customer support and it was sorted within a week. Thus I was very happy with the level of support. :) . Only one thing now keeping it off five stars and that is that there seems to be more content on a wiki of fire and ice... which can be had for free. Hopefully this will be temporary too

  16. Melissa Phoenix-avatar

    Melissa Phoenix

Amazing app. Beautiful pics. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes most problems. Unless you are logged into more than1 Google account in the play store, which causes issues; log out of any extra accounts. I sent an email to their support when I had a problem and they were pretty awesome with resolving everything very quickly!

  17. Adriane Whelchel-avatar

    Adriane Whelchel

I have only one suggestion for this app: PLEASE include the book Fire and Blood in this. I mean they are a HUGE part of this world. The only thing stopping the 5 star rating is the lack of other information from the other books

  18. Nefertaria Briggs-avatar

    Nefertaria Briggs

Edit: even when the app hadn't been updated for a few years, I found it worthwhile and happily purchased the expansions. That's when I gave it 4 stars, and I never do that for an app that is lagging in updates. Recently there have been several updates and I'm happy with the results. 5 stars now. Keep up the good work.

  19. Spooky Ghost-avatar

Great app but Hate when adding character journeys and choosing the chapter I'm on in the books, it does not remember the characters ive chosen and my location in the book so I have to input everything all over again every time I open the app, it ruins the flow of progressing through the book and journeys at the same time. Please fix this!

  20. Vincent-avatar

Really like this app. Giving me easy access to information about ALL the content of the books - and all for less than four quid!!! Absolute bargain - works perfectly on my Sony phone. Can't understand the negative reviews - this is so cheap to unlock ALL the content of this superbly designed and implemented app.

  21. Jarrod Neenan-avatar

The user experience with the map is apalling. It really should have been the standout feature of the app because the encyclopaedia does not and cannot hope to hold a candle to user driven wikis. Nice source for GRRM's unreleased chapters but that's about all you'll find here.

  22. Tsvetelina Tsvetanska-avatar

    Tsvetelina Tsvetanska

Full of bugs and not-intuitive UI. For example: I go to home > creatures. There is a search field, I type and press enter but it doesn't display eny results. This ia just one of many other weird app behavior. Too bad, I was going to buy the full content. Now I will uninstall it.

  23. Alexander Giomi-avatar

    Alexander Giomi

I really enjoy the app. The addition of the journeys and the new illustrations are a bonus. DLC is reasonably priced and worth the price. I gave it only four because it has been freezing and crashing since the update.

  24. Emil Polny-avatar

a bit unstable on android 8, and could benefit from a much more detailed map of the riverlands (raventree hall and environs..) hopefully details from additional books (fire and blood etc) will be added to the app inthe future.

  25. A Google user-avatar

Love it! it's a great companion when reading the books, or if you're just trying to remember all the names and places. I do wish the maps were a bit more detailed though.

  26. roker2121-avatar

Almost all content is price locked. Trying to navigate the only free map is a clunky and frustrating experience. Overall the UI is slow and clunky. There are better community made maps for free.

  27. Taylor Ward-avatar

Inexpensive. Informative. Great features but clunky, buggy, and the navigation feels off. The map navigation is bizarre and that's the most important feature.

  28. Miguel Valentin-avatar

    Miguel Valentin

Slow loading on clicking on things, and no restore purchases on mobile despite what FAQ says

  29. Boss Jihyo-avatar

Oh really? You have to pay for everything and it sucks, to be honest. Not even the Essos map.

  30. Sander-avatar

I love it. I do wish that you could see images of the characters in their bios if avalible. Otherwise, no complaints.

  31. Fognec Dilznitch-avatar

    Fognec Dilznitch

great encyclopedia but it errors and force closes entirely too much. im using a g7 kept in good running condition. fix this and its an easy 5 stars.

  32. jhessicka gomes-avatar

    jhessicka gomes

The app has decent content but major issues loading. It wasn't worth paying a fiver for full access when it doesn't load properly.

  33. deonna Jane-avatar

Content from the first book is free, its $4.99 (total) to unlock everything else. Well worth it

  34. PJ Walther-avatar

Great app! Especially for those lore geeks out there that really get into mythology of the universe GRRM created. wish there was one for Tolkien's universe.

  35. Valerie Conisbee-avatar

    Valerie Conisbee

Cross reference made easy! Detailed maps, so informative. I love it.

  36. Peter Briggs-avatar

With the most recent update it's not working anymore. Stays on the opening screen for 5 minutes and would probably be longer if I didn't get bored of waiting.

  37. Saud Ghaith-avatar

My purchases disappeared with this update. Now I can't even purchase again, plus the new interface has loading problems.

  38. Alex Paul-avatar

The interface is almost completely unresponsive for me. Using an LG V30 with Android 8.0. Please fix.

  39. Fran Mulligan-avatar

this last update made a shaky version not work anymore. the app keeps crashing on my pixel c tablet.

  40. Brett Irle-avatar

Excellent App for the GOT fanatic. Loads of info and easy to navigate. 👍👍

  41. Danijel Barukčić-avatar

    Danijel Barukčić

Very nice app. Has all the improtant info you need to know about ASOIAF.

  42. Shade Conover-avatar

Too many things are locked. I can't even gage how good the app is without being told 500 times that the tiny unimportant thing I want to explore is locked.

  43. Wilhem Body-avatar

Useless. Read the books, go on A Wiki of Ice and Fire and you're all set. Literally nothing more in there

  44. Wardaddy 22-avatar

Dont Bother - You have to pay for expansion of all but basic info.

  45. Jackie Harvey-avatar

Everything except one map is behind a paywall.

  46. David Clough-avatar

Very useful to update oneself on the gigantic lore & world of ice & fire

  47. A Google user-avatar

only had the app about a week but I already love it. even the free stuff is awesome.

    Christian Pedroza

Since todays update my keyboard no longer appears. I cant use my keyboard.

  49. RPKhorse-avatar

free download but if you want to see anything you have to pay for it.

  50. Wouter Nieuwerth-avatar

    Wouter Nieuwerth

Most of what you would use this app for is behind a paywall.

  51. Michelle Sloney-avatar

    Michelle Sloney

Waste of money.why would i pay for the info packs when I could look the information up on the internet.

  52. Stephen Austin-avatar

Such an awesome app for fans. Thank you for this update.

  57. Jack McDowell-avatar

What it says on the tin. Good pricing system and some confirmations of fan theories inside, much to my surprise (Robb's heir!)

  58. Matthew Shelly-avatar

there is zero content in this app that isn't paid

  59. A Google user-avatar

    Loads of interesting information.

  60. Krombopulos T-avatar

Everything is locked. these ppl are way to greedy. there is nothing in the app that is not locked.

  61. Oryctolagus Cuniculus-avatar

    Oryctolagus Cuniculus

but why do i need to pay for spoiler information when there's a thing called internet.. i thought this app was to help book readers understand the world better

  62. Laria Hicks-avatar

Fire and Blood? Is there going to be an update to include the new information presented in fire and blood?

  63. Jacob Moore-avatar

Free to very little. You need to pay for information. Use wikipedia

App keeps wanting me to repurchase the info packs that I already have purchased. Please fix it. It doesn't ask me to repurchase the info packs anymore... Now the maps won't load up, idk the app used to be great an now acts up all the time.

  75. Mitch Larsen-avatar

Not working well anymore, wants to download updates, hangs at 16.7% downloaded Uninstalled, reinstalled, same issue

  76. Troy Crayson-avatar

Seriously needs more details. Crazy that this is the most in depth app for asoiaf.

  77. Sam Jones-avatar

    Awesome app

  78. JP M-avatar

    Much better after multiple updates

  79. Elizabeth Scheidt-avatar

    Elizabeth Scheidt

    really slow

  80. Robert Lake-avatar

App is free to download but comes with everything you want to see locked. To unlock House Stark for instance would cost you 3 or 4 dollars. They have about 10 categories with tens to hundreds of sub categories in each category. Its a cool idea but everything should come unlocked. Nobody wants to pay that much for the app. The writers of the world of ice and fire should feel fortunate that GRRM lets them write a book and make money off his success. It would cost hundreds of dollars to unlock everything.

  81. Scott Croft-avatar

I don't know why people are saying this app costs so much.. The initial app is free, and has all the information from the first book unlocked. You pay an additional $0.99(yes, 99 cents) to unclock each remaining book. So $4 unlocks everythibg.. Very reasonable price for this app. It has everything from summaries to catch you up with each character, to the history of major houses and descriptions and maps of famous places. This app is effing great in my opinion!

  82. Sandrigo Campos-avatar

    Sandrigo Campos

I can't use all of the Journey map features for some reason even though I bought the 5 bloody InfoPacks! What the hell is this?! Am I supposed to give you the money and be left without the access to the travels of guys like Victarion?! Apart from that, good app. Like the details, art and well written pages. Very caring for detail. And if you are wondering if my spoiler bar is all the way to right, it is!!

  83. Mortimer Mortimer-avatar

    Mortimer Mortimer

Damn looks good but everything costs extra. I've already paid for all books why do I have to pay fo every extra in app. Make it either a one price to download app or make everything for free. Stop ripping of users. We made ASOF what it is, the readers make it big not the people trying to get rich out of it.

  84. Tyler Meshigaud-avatar

    Tyler Meshigaud

Really cool way to follow along in the books. If you forget who a character is, want to follow the journey of a certain character through the world map or want to study up on different groups in the books, it's all there. Only issue is that it crashes pretty often when looking at maps. Seems like it can't handle all the content. Anyways, definitely worth it if you're a big fan of the books, currently reading the books or just like the show.

  85. Matthew Greer-avatar

For fans of the books, and to a lesser extent, fans of the HBO series, this is a useful aid for keeping track of who's who and what's where. Unfortunately, at least on my devices, it is prone to 'stop working', particularly when navigating back from followed links, and navigation doesn't always behave as expected. Would love to see some of these kinks worked out, as well as more content contrasting the difference in storylines between the novels and the TV show.

  86. Karen Long-avatar

I love this app and the interactive maps are stellar, but in all the other categories the art and text are shrunken to about half size with no way to enlarge. It wasn't like this at first. What's going on? Is there a fix for this? I'm on a Nexus 4 with Jelly Bean. Fix this issue and this is definitely a 5-start app, even after paying for extra content. Update: if I close and restart the app it solves the issue, but please look at fixing this bug. UPDATE 2: All issues resolved. Love this app!

  87. Tyler Lyle-avatar

I can't complain. It's a great app. It runs well, it's well designed, and I've had no bugs or crashes in my experience. The spoiler setting is extremely useful, though I wish I could set it by individual chapters instead of whole books at a time. I love love LOVE the Journeys map. Seeing the paths each character has traveled is a great visual tool to enhance my reading experience. I just wish there were more illustrations and pictures for more visual cues.

  88. Adam Brooks-avatar

While information may not be as abundant as that of the physical twoiaf, it's a great read in spare time on the go and is fun to view all the maps and journeys. It tends to. Rash for me every once in a while. Layout is great. Additional artwork would be nice though as well as journeys for non pov characters.

  89. Russ Laffin-avatar

Really like the detail put into this, especially the interactive map. The spoiler gauge is a clever feature. A few errors occasionally, and a little pricey, but I had a lot of Google Play credit so it was worth it for me to get all the add ons.

  90. Steve Moffitt-avatar

Great looking app but there is limited content for free and after that it's going to cost quite a bit I'd imagine to open everything. Consider buying a world of ice and fire for around 12-15 for ebook and 17 to 21 for a hardcopy. Can't recommend it enough. Lovely book.

  91. Thomas Pashko-avatar

I love this book series, and the idea for this app is brilliant. But it seems silly that I should have to pay for infopacks to unlock the information for each book when I've already paid for all five books in the series and the World of Ice and Fire hardcover. The only real reason to use this app is convenience, since I'm able to look all this info up on various Wikis. It just seems ridiculous to make loyal readers pay more for this content when we've already spent lots of money on physical copies of books.

  92. Kent M-avatar

Screen doesn't rotate for tablets. And the advertising is dishonest. This app contains some excerpts from book 6, but not all of them. You still have to go hunting around on the Internet to find the others

  93. Unleashed rr-avatar

I've read every book pertaining to Ice and Fire including the Hedge Knight the mystery Knight the Sworn Sword and the world of Ice and Fire on top of all the Game of Throne books and this app just wants your money they won't disclose anything without money it wants you to purchase every little thing for all that why post on here for free

  94. Tracey Bolden-avatar

I like the app but notice lots of differences between the android and apple versions. I prefer the android version as ALL the exerts show up (yay) and it works well. I purchased the spoiler packs on my apple ipod and wonder if I can get them on the android...hope so, but if not no biggie I won't buy them twice.

  95. Ian Clyde-avatar

Awesome app if you're ASOIAF fanatic! I don't see why people can complain. Just the maps alone makes it worth the money! 5$ is super cheap and totally worth it! It's only crashed on me once which isn't bad at all. Definitely recommend!

  96. Rachel Woodland-avatar

    Rachel Woodland

Disappointing. There are many things I've looked up that weren't in there, and it frequently crashes or stops working correctly so I have to restart it. I would recommend just going to a wiki of ice and fire instead, but that of course has more spoiler risk.

  97. Judy J-avatar

Rich in content. Spoilers setting is brilliant. The maps are fantastic! I'd like to see more of the character artwork & be able to enlarge those pics. I don't watch the series, but might enjoy a little visual content from it. The books are the main focus though, as they should be. Well executed.

  98. Chadrick II-avatar

aSoIaF is my favorite book series of all time and I downloaded this hoping it was a source of info in the form of an app,ya know like a wiki. instead this app makes you pay just to read up on content in the books. It actually expects ppl to pay to research. You'd do better off with wiki. It doesn't even have all the information that it wants you to pay for.

  99. A Google user-avatar

The app is useless unless you give them money. Most of the content is locked. The game of thrones free map is pretty cool, I would recommend that instead. And the app of ice and fire, it has the targ dragon as the thumbnail.

  100. Tyler Hodges-avatar

This app, when fully unlocked for $5, is loaded with information. The character bios and maps are especially useful. However, I would love to see more, and larger, images throughout, as the tumbnails are a little lackluster. The spoiler slider is also imperfect, and as a result I have had several important plot details spoiled.
